The October 16, 2026 developer notice says updates download automatically when Beast of Reincarnation launches, for both physical and digital editions. Xbox Series X|S: Manage Game and add-ons > Updates
- Open your Xbox library and highlight the game.
- Press the controller’s Options/Start button.
- Choose Manage Game and add-ons.
- Scroll to Updates.
- Start any available update and wait for the download and installation to complete.
- Launch the game and check the title-screen version.
If the Updates section is empty, return to the dashboard, quit the game fully, and open the management screen again. This avoids treating a running or suspended copy as evidence that no update exists. The same path applies whether your copy is digital or installed from a physical disc; the notice says both editions receive automatic launch checks.
Steam: press Update, then inspect Library > Downloads
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Choose Beast of Reincarnation.
- Press Update where the Play button normally appears.

After starting the update, leave the game closed until the platform reports that installation is complete. Look at the bottom-right corner of the title screen. Version numbers are time-sensitive, and Fictions’ published numbers changed between August and October 2026. The later October developer notice takes precedence over the earlier support procedure.

The October 9, 2026 patch is identified as version 1.1.01 on PC and 1.012.000 on PS5. Because platform numbering is not formatted identically, compare the exact string shown on your own title screen rather than converting one format into another. If an article or screenshot quotes the August numbers, it is describing the earlier support state, not necessarily a current installation. Record the exact string and the date you checked it when contacting support.
Diagnose a download that will not start
The update prompt never appears
Fully quit and relaunch first, because the game checks for updates during launch. Then use the platform-specific manual command above. On Steam, open the Downloads page even when the library button changes back to Play; the job may be queued or processing. On either console, avoid checking from inside a suspended game, since the system may not initiate a new launch check until the title is closed.

The download is queued or paused
On Steam, Library > Downloads shows whether another game is ahead of Beast of Reincarnation, whether the transfer is paused, or whether Steam is processing local files. Resume the item or wait for the preceding transfer to finish. Starting the game before that queue completes can leave the old build installed.
On consoles, revisit the game’s update-management screen after quitting the title. A suspended session can prevent the system from presenting the pending update as an active download. Let the update complete before judging the result; a queued item is not the same failure as a rejected or corrupted installation.
The download finishes but the old version remains
- Close the game completely and launch it again so the title screen refreshes.
- Read the version in the bottom-right corner, not a store-page description or an old support screenshot.
- Repeat the manual update check for your platform if the displayed build did not change.
- Use the later October version list as the comparison point, recognizing that a still newer rollout may supersede it.

The platform says there is no update
First determine whether your installed title already matches the current notice. If it does, no further download is required. If it does not, quit the game, restart the console or Steam client, and run the manual check again. The developer notice says rollout can take time depending on platform, so a delayed regional or platform rollout is possible; avoid deleting the installation while waiting for the service to recognize the patch. Reinstalling consumes the same storage and bandwidth without solving a release that has not reached your platform yet.

Fix crashes during updating or at launch on PC
For crashes on Steam or PC Game Pass, Fictions asks players to submit a support ticket so the team can investigate. Include a CrashDump when one is available; it usually appears in:

Attach the relevant dump rather than only describing the symptom. A ticket is especially important when the crash repeats after a clean relaunch or occurs during the update process, because the dump can distinguish an application failure from a platform download problem. Preserve the file before trying major maintenance steps so support can inspect the failure that actually occurred.
What to include in the ticket
- Your platform: Steam or PC Game Pass.
- Whether the crash occurs while downloading, while applying the update, at startup, or during play.
- The version shown on the title screen, if the game stays open long enough to display it.
- The CrashDump file from the path above, when present.
- The key steps that preceded the crash, such as declining the prompt, relaunching, or starting from a queued download.
- Your operating system and whether the listed minimum hardware is met.
Consider a BIOS update
Fictions says that updating the computer BIOS may sometimes resolve crashes. This is a maintenance step, not a guaranteed fix. Use the BIOS instructions and files supplied by your computer or motherboard manufacturer, confirm the exact model before applying anything, and follow the manufacturer’s recovery precautions. Do not interrupt a BIOS update or use firmware intended for a different model. If you are not certain which BIOS package matches the machine, stop and obtain the manufacturer’s guidance rather than guessing.

Confirm that the PC can install the game
Steam lists the following minimum requirements. These are minimum specifications, and the page describes the expected target as low 1080p at about 40 frames per second with DLSS or FSR1; they are not a promise of high settings or a fixed frame rate on every system.

Check free space before treating a failed download as a server-side fault. Clear at least the listed 45 GB requirement plus room for the platform’s temporary download and installation files. If the machine misses the CPU, GPU, RAM, operating-system, DirectX 12, or SSD requirement, meeting those requirements is a prerequisite rather than an optional optimization. The documented fixes do not require a particular SSD model, cleaner utility, VPN, booster, or other accessory.
Understand what the latest patch changed
The October 9, 2026 v1.1.01 update on PC and v1.012.000 update on PS5 added a PC field-of-view setting, controls to show or hide cutscene-skip prompts, event-pacing and skip fixes, performance-load distribution changes, and environmental and collision fixes. These changes explain why checking the installed build matters: a successful download is not verified by the launcher alone, and the title-screen number is the clearest in-game confirmation.
Fictions also said the current post-launch update cycle was coming to a close and that the next planned patch was intended to be the final patch in that phase of major post-launch updates. That statement describes the planned cycle at the time of the notice; it does not make an older build current, nor does it eliminate the need to install an available patch. When to stop troubleshooting locally
Escalate to Fictions after the game has been fully quit, the platform-specific manual check has been run, and the title-screen version still does not advance or the PC crash repeats. A support ticket with the exact platform, displayed version, failure stage, and CrashDump gives the support team actionable evidence. Reinstalling before collecting that information can remove useful local evidence and does not address a rollout delay or a queued download.
