Turn on Enable Voice Chat, select the microphone mode that matches how you speak, verify the input device and microphone threshold, then raise voice-chat volume. Next, check the active channel: Electronic Arts says solo players and parties default to Game voice chat in Game Update 1.4.3.0, and the channel can be changed with the control below the Commo Rose. Finally, make sure cross-platform friends were added through EA Connect and invited from the Party tab. A shared Platoon is not documented as an automatic shared party or voice channel.
Identify what is actually failing
“Voice chat is not working” can describe three different problems: your microphone is not transmitting, incoming voices are inaudible, or your friends are connected to a different channel or party. Use the symptom that matches your situation before changing settings.

Changing several unrelated settings at once makes it difficult to tell which control solved the problem. Work through the sequence below, then test after each meaningful change.

Turn on voice chat and configure the microphone
- From the Battlefield 6 main menu, open Settings.
- Select Audio.
- Scroll to the Voice Chat section.
- Set Enable Voice Chat to on.
- Choose the microphone mode that matches the way you want to speak.
- Check the selected microphone input, the microphone threshold, and the voice-chat volume.
Choose the correct microphone mode
EA lists three modes:
- Off: your microphone does not transmit. This is the first setting to rule out when teammates cannot hear you.
- Open Mic: the game transmits when the microphone signal rises above the configured threshold. A threshold set too high can prevent normal speech from opening the mic; one set too low can transmit keyboard, controller, or room noise.
- Push To Talk: the game transmits only while the assigned control is held. If you select this mode but never press the assigned button, teammates will correctly hear silence. Confirm the binding and hold it while speaking.
After selecting a mode, speak a complete sentence rather than tapping the microphone. If Open Mic does not react, lower the threshold in small steps and check that the intended microphone is selected. If Push To Talk is preferable in a noisy room, verify the binding before assuming the input is broken.

Check incoming voice volume
Voice-chat volume is separate from the game’s effects and music levels. Raise it enough to hear a test transmission. EA also documents audio ducking among the voice-chat controls; ducking can reduce other game sounds when someone speaks, but it does not place you in the correct channel. If the voice indicator shows activity yet speech is barely audible, volume is the relevant control. If there is no activity at all, continue to the channel and party checks.
Confirm the active voice channel
A party, a squad on the battlefield, and a Platoon are different social contexts. Being associated with the same group name does not prove that every player is listening to the same voice route.
Electronic Arts’ September 14, 2026 Game Update 1.4.3.0 notes state: Solo players and parties will default to Game voice chat, making it easier to take advantage of these interactions.
The update also describes switching channels with the control below the Commo Rose. Open that control and check the channel shown for your player. Ask one teammate to do the same and make an intentional choice rather than relying on the default.

When Game voice chat is the right choice
Use Game voice chat when you want communication with players in the current game context, including the interactions EA associated with the Proximity Chat rollout. Availability and supported modes can change as Battlefield 6 and REDSEC are updated, so a channel or feature shown in one mode may not appear in another.

When a party or group channel is expected
If your friends are coordinating before a match or want a private conversation, verify that all of them are in the same active party and that each player has selected the intended party or group route where the interface offers it. Do not infer a private party connection from a Platoon tag, a friend-list relationship, or being on the same server.
Ask a teammate to say a short test phrase after everyone confirms the channel. This separates a routing problem from a microphone problem: if the test phrase is audible after a channel switch, the original mic hardware was not necessarily defective.
Build a cross-platform party through EA Connect
For friends on different platforms, EA documents EA Connect as the route for adding one another as EA friends and using the in-game Party tab for invitations.

- Open EA Connect from the game’s social interface.
- Add the other player as an EA friend, using the EA account identity rather than relying only on a platform friend list.
- Wait for the friendship to appear as accepted or active.
- Open the Party tab in Battlefield 6.
- Select the friend and send the party invitation.
- Have the invited player accept, then confirm that both players appear in the same active party before entering matchmaking.
Cross-play starts enabled by default according to EA’s support guidance. However, EA says the cross-play setting cannot be changed while you are in a party, on a server, or in matchmaking. If the option is unavailable, leave the current party or server and exit matchmaking before trying to change it. Re-enter the party only after the desired cross-play state is available.

If the invitation never arrives
- Confirm that the EA friend request was sent to the correct EA identity.
- Check EA Connect rather than assuming a console or PC friend list is sufficient.
- Have both players restart the social panel and look again in the Party tab.
- Make sure neither player is already committed to another party, server, or matchmaking session.
- Once the invitation succeeds, check the voice channel separately; party membership and audible chat are related but distinct checks.
Understand what a Platoon does—and does not do
EA describes Platoons as organized groups of up to 100 members. Members can use a shared tag and party up, but the available Platoon information does not say that every member is automatically placed in one party or one voice channel.
Therefore, use the Platoon as a way to find and organize players, not as proof of a live voice connection. When a Platoon member seems absent:
- Confirm the person is online and has accepted the relevant EA friendship or party invitation.
- Invite that person to the active Party tab group.
- Wait until the player visibly joins the party.
- Check the channel below the Commo Rose on both sides.
- Run a short voice test before launching the match.
If only some of the 100-member Platoon can hear one another, that is consistent with separate party or channel membership; it does not by itself demonstrate a game-wide voice outage.
Use the symptom-specific fixes
Nobody hears your microphone
- Set Enable Voice Chat to on under Settings > Audio > Voice Chat.
- Make sure the mode is not Off.
- If using Push To Talk, hold the assigned control while speaking and verify the binding.
- If using Open Mic, lower the microphone threshold gradually until ordinary speech activates transmission.
- Confirm that the intended microphone input is selected, especially if a headset and a webcam or controller microphone are both connected.
- Ask a teammate to confirm whether they see or hear any transmission indicator, then test again in the confirmed channel.
If the game never detects the input after these checks, the likely issue is outside channel routing. A headset with a working microphone is an optional hardware path for players who lack suitable voice input; replacing hardware does not correct a wrong channel, EA Connect setup, platform permission, or an underlying game issue.

You cannot hear anyone
- Raise the in-game voice-chat volume.
- Confirm that audio ducking has not made speech seem absent by temporarily listening with normal game audio levels.
- Open the channel control below the Commo Rose and match the channel used by the speakers.
- Ask one teammate to transmit a deliberate test phrase.
- Check that the teammate’s microphone mode is not Off and that a Push To Talk user is holding the assigned control.
Do not diagnose your own microphone from an incoming-audio failure. Your input can work while incoming voices are routed elsewhere or mixed too quietly.
Only cross-platform party setup fails
- Add both players as EA friends through EA Connect.
- Send and accept the invitation from the Party tab.
- Leave any active party, server, or matchmaking session before changing the cross-play setting.
- Rejoin the party, check the selected voice channel, and test before matchmaking.
Cross-play being enabled does not automatically add a player to your party, and a successful party invitation does not automatically prove that everyone is listening to the same voice channel.
Platoon members can see one another but cannot talk
Return to the distinction between organization and live session. Create or join the actual party, verify each member’s channel, and run a voice test. If one member is still missing, remove the assumption that the Platoon tag supplies voice routing and troubleshoot that player’s EA Connect status and microphone settings individually.

Voice routing and game joining can fail independently. EA’s 1.4.3.0 notes report an improvement to joining a game together while in a party, but they do not claim that every party-join failure is resolved.

After voice chat is confirmed, try the join again with everyone in the same active party. If it still fails, record the exact symptom—such as an invitation that disappears, a loading screen that returns to the menu, or a player who remains outside the match—and avoid presenting the patch note as a guaranteed fix. The appropriate next step is current EA Help support, because the official update does not document a universal recovery procedure for every join error.
Hardware and platform-permission limits
EA’s documented instructions focus on the in-game Audio controls, EA Connect, and Party tab. They do not provide a complete, current microphone-privacy walkthrough for Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in the material available here. Platform menus and permission labels can also change.
If the in-game checks fail, verify that the operating system or console recognizes the microphone, that the game is allowed to use it, and that no system mute is active—but use the current instructions for your platform rather than relying on an old dashboard path. If you cannot confirm the permission state or the game still receives no input, contact EA Help with your platform, microphone type, voice mode, channel, and the exact test result.
A short repeatable test before every platoon session
- Join or create the intended Party from the Party tab.
- Open Settings > Audio > Voice Chat and confirm Enable Voice Chat.
- Check microphone mode, input, threshold, and voice-chat volume.
- Open the control below the Commo Rose and select the channel the group agreed to use.
- Have one player transmit a short phrase; have another confirm it was heard.
- Only then start matchmaking or launch the game.
This test takes less time than diagnosing a silent squad after loading into a match and makes it clear whether a later failure is audio, social setup, channel selection, or game joining.
When to escalate the problem
Escalate to current EA Help guidance when all of the following are true: voice chat is enabled, the microphone mode and input are correct, the channel is confirmed, EA Connect friendship and Party-tab membership are established, and a suitable microphone is recognized by the platform. Include the game version or update context, platform, whether the issue affects incoming or outgoing audio, whether it affects one player or the whole party, and whether party game joining also fails. Those details distinguish a local setting from a service or update problem.
Recheck the menus after major Battlefield 6 updates. Channel defaults, Proximity Chat availability, supported modes, and labels can change; the September 14, 2026 notes are the current reference for the Game voice-chat default described above, not a permanent promise about every future build.
