How to Fix ASOS Saying “Access Denied”

By Freedom251 Team · · 9 min read

ASOS access-denied pages are usually caused by a cookie or browser-state problem, a rate limit, or a security rule applied to your IP address, network, browser signature, or autonomous-system number (ASN). Start by stopping repeated refreshes, confirming you are on the official ASOS site for your country, allowing cookies, updating your browser or app, and testing another browser or device. If a numbered Cloudflare error remains across devices or networks, ASOS Customer Care must investigate it.

ASOS’s own first-line instruction is: “Clear your browser’s cache and cookie files, then return to the site and make sure you’ve accepted our cookies.” Clearing site data can remove an unsigned-in bag or Saved Items, so record anything important before doing it.

What an ASOS access-denied message means

“Access denied” does not automatically mean your computer is damaged or that your account has been banned. ASOS uses web-security controls that evaluate requests before the shopping page loads. Depending on the code, the control may be reacting to your network provider, public IP address, browser fingerprint, a firewall rule, or too many requests in a short period.

The number shown on the page is more useful than the generic wording. Cloudflare’s descriptions distinguish several controls:

  • Click the button that reads 'LET'S GO!'
  • Input your 19-digit code, 8 digit PIN and email address that you purchased your ASOS gift card with from Amazon USA
  • Tick the 'I'm not a robot' box and then click 'Next'.
  • A 16-digit code will now appear on screen, this is your activated ASOS gift card!
Code Likely control What it means for troubleshooting
1005 ASN blocked The network or internet provider’s autonomous-system number was blocked. A different connection may behave differently, but ASOS must review a persistent block.
1006, 1007, 1008 or 1106 Client IP blocked The site owner blocked the public IP address. Cloudflare says only the website owner can investigate or allow that address.
1010 Browser signature blocked The security system rejected characteristics of the browser. Extensions, unusual settings, corrupted cookies or an outdated browser can be relevant, so another current browser is a useful comparison.
1015 Rate limited Too many requests were detected. Wait and avoid repeated refreshes; additional requests can extend the block.
1020 Firewall rule A customer-configured firewall rule blocked the request. Send ASOS the screenshot and Ray ID so its team can inspect the rule.

A code is an indication, not a diagnosis of your particular account. The same household can see different results on a phone, a laptop, Wi-Fi and mobile data because each test may use a different browser state or public IP.

Do these checks before changing settings

Stop refreshing a rate-limited page

If the page displays 1015 or says that you are sending requests too quickly, close the tab and wait. Do not keep pressing Reload, opening many tabs, or repeatedly submitting checkout. Cloudflare specifically warns that repeated requests can prolong a rate-limit block. Waiting is the correct first action for this code.

Confirm the country and domain

Type the official ASOS address yourself or use a trusted bookmark, then select the country or region you actually use. A regional site can apply different availability and security rules. Do not enter payment details on a look-alike domain reached through an unexpected message or advertisement.

Protect an unsigned-in bag

Before clearing cookies, write down product names, sizes and quantities or sign in if you can do so safely. ASOS warns that clearing cookies can remove an unsigned-in bag or Saved Items. Items saved to an account may return after signing in, but a guest bag should be treated as temporary.

Fix the browser version first

Update the browser

Use the browser’s built-in update screen, restart it when prompted, and retry ASOS in a new window. ASOS recommends an up-to-date browser for checkout troubleshooting. An old browser can fail modern cookie, JavaScript or security checks even when other websites still open.

Allow cookies for the test

ASOS requires cookies for normal navigation, login and checkout. Temporarily turn off a setting named Block all cookies, or add the ASOS site to the browser’s allowed-sites list. Keep ordinary privacy protections enabled where possible; the important test is whether ASOS works when its required cookies are accepted.

In Chromium-based browsers, open Settings, then Privacy and security, and inspect Third-party cookies or the site-data controls. In Firefox, open Settings, choose Privacy & Security, and review Cookies and Site Data. In Safari, open Settings (or Safari > Settings on a Mac), then review cookie and cross-site tracking controls. Labels vary by browser version, so use the browser’s settings search for “cookies” if the wording differs.

Clear only ASOS data when possible

A targeted deletion is less disruptive than wiping every website’s data. Open the browser’s site-data or cookies list, search for the ASOS domain, remove its stored data, close all ASOS tabs, and open the site again. If your browser offers no per-site option, clear cached files and cookies for the relevant time range, understanding that this can sign you out elsewhere and erase other temporary shopping carts.

Test without extensions

Content blockers, script filters, privacy extensions and password-manager overlays can alter the browser request or prevent a challenge from completing. Open a private window with extensions disabled, or temporarily disable one extension at a time for the ASOS test. Do not install an extension offered by an access-denied page. If private browsing works, re-enable extensions individually to identify the conflicting setting.

Use a comparison test to isolate the cause

Change one variable at a time and record the result. This avoids confusing a local cookie problem with an IP or firewall block.

Test If ASOS works If ASOS still fails
Same device, different current browser The original browser’s cookies, extensions or signature are suspect. Test another device or connection; the issue may not be browser-local.
Same browser, different device The first device has local settings, stored data or software interference. A shared network or account-independent block is more likely.
Home Wi-Fi versus mobile data The home public IP, provider ASN or network filter may be involved. If both fail, save the code and Ray ID and continue with ASOS support.
Before login versus checkout Checkout-specific cookies, payment-page scripts or account state may be involved. A site-wide security control is more likely.
Website versus current ASOS app The browser environment is the likely differentiator. Update and reset the app, then escalate if both channels fail.

Reset the ASOS website session

  1. Close every ASOS tab and window.
  2. Remove ASOS cookies and cached site data using the targeted method above.
  3. Restart the browser, open the correct regional ASOS domain, and accept the cookie prompt.
  4. Sign in again only after the home page loads normally.
  5. Add one item to the bag and visit the bag page before attempting payment. This separates a general access problem from a checkout-stage failure.

If the page immediately returns the same code after a clean session, do not keep deleting data. A repeated 1005, 1006, 1007, 1008, 1106 or 1020 response is more consistent with a network, IP, ASN or firewall decision than with a stale cookie.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Fix checkout-only failures

When browsing works but payment or checkout shows access denied, repeat ASOS’s checkout checks with extra care:

  • Use a current, fully updated browser.
  • Make sure cookies are accepted and Block all cookies is disabled for the test.
  • Clear ASOS site data, reopen the browser and rebuild the session.
  • Try another supported browser or device without extensions that modify pages or payment flows.
  • Avoid opening multiple checkout tabs or repeatedly clicking the payment button.
  • If the error appears after changing networks, record that fact; it helps ASOS distinguish a checkout session problem from an IP control.

Do not repeatedly submit an order while the page is blocked. Check your bank or ASOS order history first if you are unsure whether a payment attempt was accepted, then contact ASOS rather than creating duplicate orders.

When the ASOS app works differently

An app and a browser use different cookies, network handling and embedded web components, so success in one does not prove that the other is configured correctly.

  1. Force-close the ASOS app rather than merely switching away from it.
  2. Reopen it and retry once.
  3. Install any available ASOS app update.
  4. Update the device operating system, then restart the device.
  5. If the app still fails, test the website in a current browser and compare the exact code and network used.

On Android or iOS, the operating system’s app settings may also offer a cache-clearing or offload option. Use those cautiously and make sure you know your sign-in details before removing local app data.

Test the network without assuming a VPN is the answer

For a diagnostic comparison, try a normal connection that is not running through a VPN, proxy, corporate gateway or heavily filtered public network. Such services can share an IP address among many users or change the apparent location and ASN, which can trigger a security rule. A different connection may reveal that your usual public IP is blocked, but it is not proof that a VPN will bypass ASOS controls, and repeatedly switching locations can create additional security challenges.

If ASOS works on mobile data but not home Wi-Fi, restart the router only if your provider normally assigns a new public IP; many connections keep the same address. Do not attempt to evade a block through deceptive activity. The useful result of this test is evidence for ASOS support, not a guarantee of permanent access.

What each persistent code requires

Codes 1005, 1006, 1007, 1008 and 1106

These point toward ASN- or IP-level blocking. Confirm the result on another device using the same network, then on a different ordinary connection. If only the original network fails, give ASOS the public-facing details and the time of the test. Cloudflare states that the website owner, not Cloudflare support, must investigate or allow a blocked IP or ASN.

Code 1010

Compare a current, unmodified browser with the failing browser. If the clean browser works, remove or reconfigure the extension or privacy setting that changes the request. If every browser on the device fails, test another device before concluding that the device itself is blocked.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Code 1015

Stop requests and wait. Do not automate refreshes, repeatedly clear data and retry, or open many parallel tabs. If the message remains after a reasonable pause, capture the page and contact ASOS with the timestamp and Ray ID.

Don't use search engines or shortened versions of the website address, as these may lead you to fake or fraudulent sites. Do not provide any Gift Card details (example: Card Number) to someone you do not know or trust. If you believe you've reached an illegitimate website, contact cardholder service at 1-888-524-1283. Be cautious of phishing sites, there are a variety of scams in which fraudsters try to trick others into paying with gift cards.
  • To report your Lost or Stolen Physical Visa Card, call Customer Service 24/7 at 1 (888) 524-1283 to cancel your Gift Card as soon as you can. You will be asked to provide the Gift Card number and other identifying information.
  • Use your Visa Gift Card in the U.S. everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted, including online.

Code 1020

Save the complete error page, including the Ray ID, and send it to ASOS Customer Care. A 1020 response represents a customer firewall rule; changing your browser may not remove the rule.

Collect the details ASOS needs

When local fixes do not resolve the page, provide a concise diagnostic record instead of a vague “it does not work” report:

  • The exact error code and full wording.
  • The Ray ID shown on the error page.
  • The date and time in UTC.
  • Your country or region.
  • Device model and operating system version.
  • Browser or ASOS app version.
  • Whether you were browsing, signing in, viewing the bag or checking out.
  • Whether another browser, device or network produced the same result.
  • The cookie, cache, update and extension steps already tried.
  • A screenshot that does not expose payment details, passwords or unnecessary personal information.

ASOS asks for the error details, screenshots and troubleshooting steps already attempted. Include the exact domain and regional site, but never send your password, full card number or one-time security code.

Common mistakes that make the problem harder

  • Refreshing a 1015 page: extra requests can extend the rate limit.
  • Deleting every browser cookie first: this can erase an unsigned-in bag and Saved Items without addressing an IP block.
  • Changing several variables at once: you lose the information that identifies whether cookies, the device or the network caused the difference.
  • Assuming a VPN is a fix: a VPN can introduce a shared or flagged IP and does not guarantee access.
  • Using an outdated app or operating system: ASOS specifically includes updates in its app troubleshooting guidance.
  • Contacting the wrong party for a firewall decision: Cloudflare cannot override an ASOS customer rule; ASOS must inspect its own rule.
  • Sharing sensitive checkout screenshots: crop payment data before sending diagnostics.

A practical decision path

  1. If the code is 1015, stop refreshing and wait.
  2. If no code is shown, confirm the official regional domain, update the browser, allow cookies and clear ASOS site data.
  3. Try a second current browser, then another device.
  4. Compare ordinary Wi-Fi with mobile data, without assuming that a VPN will solve the issue.
  5. If the app is involved, force-close it and update both the app and operating system.
  6. If the same numbered block persists, record the code, Ray ID, UTC time, versions, region and network results.
  7. Send that record and a safe screenshot to ASOS Customer Care.

Bottom line

Start with ASOS’s cookie and cache procedure, a current browser, and a second browser or device. Treat 1015 as a wait-and-stop-refresh situation; treat 1005, 1006, 1007, 1008, 1106, 1010 and 1020 as clues that a network, IP, browser-signature or firewall control may be involved. When those checks do not change the result, only ASOS can inspect the request, so give its support team the exact code, Ray ID, timestamp and troubleshooting history.
