An iQOO phone that becomes uncomfortably hot should be taken out of use immediately: end the game, unplug the charger, move the phone out of direct sunlight, and let it cool on a hard, ventilated surface. Do not put it in a refrigerator, immerse it in water, or continue playing to “test” it.
Once the phone is back to a normal temperature, reduce the game’s graphics and frame rate, lower brightness, close unneeded apps and downloads, and avoid gaming while charging. Use the original or manufacturer-approved charger and cable for your exact model. If the phone heats while idle, repeatedly displays temperature warnings, shuts down, smells unusual, swells, or has damaged charging equipment, stop using and charging it and arrange authorized service.

First, decide whether the heat is urgent
Gaming stresses the processor, graphics hardware, display and network radio at the same time. Charging adds another heat source, so a long session while plugged in can feel substantially warmer than gaming on battery. Warmth during a demanding game can therefore be normal, but the pattern matters more than a single reading because iQOO does not publish one universal temperature-warning threshold for every model.
| What you observe | What to do now | What it suggests |
|---|---|---|
| Warm only during a demanding game, then cools after you stop | Reduce workload, improve airflow and take breaks | Likely sustained-load heat; monitor the pattern |
| Much hotter when the charger is connected | Stop playing while connected, inspect accessories and retest unplugged | Charging is adding a major heat load |
| Heat while idle, repeated temperature warning or automatic shutdown | Stop use and charging; contact authorized service | Abnormal behavior needing diagnosis |
| Swollen body, chemical or burnt smell, frayed cable or damaged plug | Do not charge or open the phone; isolate it safely and seek service | Possible battery or charging-hardware hazard |
These are decision points, not a substitute for a model-specific diagnosis. A phone that is merely warm after a heavy game should respond to reduced workload and cooling. A phone that remains hot without that workload should not be treated as a settings problem.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Cool the phone safely before troubleshooting
- End the game. Save progress if possible, close the game and disconnect the charger if the phone is uncomfortably hot.
- Move it to shade. Keep it away from windows, dashboards and other direct-sun locations. Ambient heat makes it harder for the phone to shed gaming heat.
- Improve airflow. Put the phone on a hard, dry, ventilated surface. Remove a thick case only if it can be done safely and the phone is not dangerously hot to handle.
- Let it cool gradually. Do not put it in a refrigerator or freezer, pour water on it or place it against an ice pack. Condensation and thermal shock can damage electronics.
- Wait before retesting. Start again only after the phone feels normal to the touch and shows no warning. If it immediately heats again without a demanding task, stop and seek service.
A soft bed, blanket or clothing can cover vents and trap heat. Keep the display and rear panel unobstructed while the phone cools and during later tests.
Reduce the heat generated by gaming
After cooling, test the game with the phone unplugged. This separates the game’s workload from the additional heat produced by charging. Apply changes one at a time when possible so you can tell which change helps.
Lower graphics quality and frame rate
In the game’s graphics or performance menu, choose a lower rendering preset and a lower frame-rate target. High resolution, maximum effects and the highest frame rate make the processor and graphics hardware work continuously. A stable lower setting is usually preferable to a peak setting that causes throttling, stutter or shutdowns.
Reduce display brightness
Lower the screen brightness to the lowest comfortable level. A bright, high-refresh display adds power demand throughout the session. Disable extra visual effects or high-refresh options temporarily if your model and game expose them and heat remains excessive.
Close background work
Before starting a long session, close downloads, screen recording, livestreaming, navigation and other apps that are actively using the processor, storage or network. Do not rely on repeatedly force-closing every app as a permanent “cooling” fix; focus on apps doing real work, and leave essential system processes alone.
Take breaks during long sessions
Short pauses let accumulated heat leave the chassis. A pause is especially useful in a warm room, outdoors, or when the phone is inside a case. If heat rises steadily despite lower settings and breaks, stop the test rather than compensating with more aggressive cooling.
Find out whether charging is the main contributor
Run the same game for a short, comparable period after the phone has cooled, first unplugged and then—only if the phone stays comfortable—while charging. If the large temperature increase occurs only in the second test, charging and gaming together are the issue to address.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Do not play while charging when heat is already high
The safest immediate change is to charge before or after the session instead of during it. Official vivo battery-maintenance guidance advises against prolonged use while charging and against use in high-temperature surroundings; the guidance is general battery advice rather than an iQOO-specific surface-temperature limit. Its stated optimal battery working range is 0°C to 35°C, with the source year not stated in the published instructions: vivo smartphone battery maintenance instructions.
Inspect the charger and cable
Stop using a charger or cable that is frayed, cracked, bent at the connector, unusually loose, discolored or hot. Check the phone’s charging port for visible debris without inserting metal objects. Replace accessories with the original or manufacturer-approved charger and data cable intended for the exact model and market. Avoid choosing a replacement solely by a wattage number; compatibility, condition and certification matter.
Check the surroundings
Charge on a hard, open surface rather than under bedding or inside a bag. Keep the phone out of direct sun and away from other heat sources. If the phone becomes uncomfortable even when it is doing little, unplug it and arrange service instead of trying another charger repeatedly.
Use Bypass Charging only if your model supports it
Bypass Charging is not an iQOO-wide setting. The official iQOO 13 product page describes a game-scene mode in which the charger prioritizes powering the phone directly, greatly slowing battery charging and reducing battery-charging heat while gaming and charging: iQOO 13 official product page.

Menu names and availability can change with software updates and region. If you cannot find the setting, do not assume it is hidden or install an unrelated utility; your model may not support it. Even with bypass enabled, lower graphics, good airflow and breaks remain necessary because the processor and display still generate heat.
Check for an iManager Phone Cooling utility
Some iQOO phones expose a Phone Cooling function through iManager. An iQOO product page describes it as reducing active apps and CPU frequency to lower demand: iQOO product page describing iManager Phone Cooling.
Open iManager and search for a cooling, device-care or performance tool only if your phone provides it. The exact label, location and behavior vary by model, region and software version. Read the on-screen explanation before enabling it: reducing CPU frequency can lower heat but may also reduce peak game performance. Treat the utility as a workload-management option, not proof that a battery, charger or motherboard fault has been repaired.

Improve airflow without creating a new risk
Remove an insulating case during a hot session if doing so is safe, keep the rear panel clear and avoid playing on soft surfaces. A fan can move room air across the phone, but do not block ports or attach anything that presses on a swollen back cover.

A clip-on smartphone gaming cooler can help during sustained gaming by moving heat away from the rear panel. iQOO’s support materials list a Cooling Back Clip Pro among its accessories: iQOO Global support and accessories page. It is an optional accessory, not a diagnosis or repair.
- Verify that the cooler fits your exact phone and does not interfere with the camera, buttons, wireless charging or the case.
- Use it after the free steps—lower settings, airflow and unplugged testing—have been tried.
- Follow the cooler’s instructions and watch for condensation in a humid environment.
- Stop using it if the phone still shows warnings, shuts down, smells unusual or heats while idle.
No particular third-party cooler has been established here as tested or suitable for every iQOO model.
Compare the pattern before choosing a fix
Classifying the heat first prevents wasted purchases and unsafe experiments. Compare four questions: does heat appear only under sustained game load, only while plugged in, in a hot or covered environment, or even when the phone is idle? Also note whether a warning, shutdown, swelling, smell or charging fault accompanies it.
| Pattern | Start with | Escalate when |
|---|---|---|
| Only during demanding games | Lower graphics and frame rate, reduce brightness, close active background work and take breaks. | Heat continues rising, warnings appear or the phone does not cool after stopping. |
| Mostly while charging | Stop gaming while connected, test unplugged and use approved, undamaged accessories. | The phone is hot during light charging or with a known-good approved charger. |
| Hot room, direct sun or covered phone | Move to shade, remove insulating coverings and charge on a hard open surface. | Heat remains abnormal in a cool, ventilated room. |
| Idle heat, swelling, smell or shutdown | Stop use and charging immediately. | Contact authorized service; do not keep testing with different settings. |
This comparison also tells you where an accessory belongs. A clip-on cooler is relevant only to sustained gaming after airflow and workload changes. It is not an answer to a damaged cable, swollen battery or heat that occurs while idle.

Understand the temperature guidance
The 0°C to 35°C figure in the vivo instructions describes an optimal battery working range. It is not an iQOO-wide external-surface alarm limit, and it does not mean that a phone touching 35°C must shut down. Conversely, the absence of a published number does not make repeated warnings or shutdowns safe to ignore. Use the phone’s behavior and warning messages, not an improvised numerical target, to decide when to stop.
Use iQOO’s support categories to classify the symptom
iQOO India lists separate support scenarios labelled “Phone heats up when playing games,” “Heats up while charging,” and “The phone heats up in a high temperature environment, direct sunlight, or covered by foreign objects.” You can use those categories to describe the pattern accurately when checking model-specific help: iQOO India support: phone heating scenarios.

Record when the heat starts, whether the phone is plugged in, the game and settings in use, room or outdoor conditions, and whether a warning appears. This information helps service staff distinguish sustained workload from charging, environmental or hardware causes. Do not infer a hardware fault solely from touch temperature, and do not dismiss repeated warnings because the phone later cools.
When to stop troubleshooting and get authorized service
Stop using and charging the phone and contact an authorized after-sales service centre if any of these conditions occurs:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- The phone heats markedly while idle or during light tasks.
- A temperature warning appears repeatedly, or the phone shuts down to protect itself.
- The back cover or screen is lifting, the body is swollen, or the battery area changes shape.
- You notice a chemical, burning or unusual electrical smell.
- The charger, cable or connector is damaged, discolored, sparking or excessively hot.
- Heat returns immediately after cooling and removing gaming and charging loads.
Do not open the phone, puncture a swollen battery or attempt a battery replacement without model-specific diagnosis. The manufacturer guidance calls for original batteries, chargers and data cables and directs errors to an authorized service centre. Keep the phone away from flammable materials while arranging help, and tell the technician exactly what happened.
A practical decision path
- Is it uncomfortable now? Stop the game, unplug it and cool it safely.
- Does it cool normally? If not, stop using it and seek service.
- Does it heat only during gaming? Lower graphics and frame rate, reduce brightness, close active background work and take breaks.
- Does charging make it substantially worse? Test unplugged, stop gaming while connected and replace suspect accessories with approved ones.
- Does your exact model offer Bypass Charging? If yes, use it for supported game scenes; if not, do not install an unverified substitute.
- Does your exact model offer Phone Cooling in iManager? Use it only as a model-supported workload control, understanding that performance may fall.
- Are warnings, shutdowns, swelling, smells or idle heat present? Stop all use and charging and contact authorized service.
What not to do
- Do not continue a game while the phone is uncomfortably hot.
- Do not put a hot phone in a refrigerator, freezer or water.
- Do not cover it with bedding or charge it inside a bag.
- Do not use a damaged or unknown charger and cable just because they fit the port.
- Do not assume every iQOO model has Bypass Charging, iManager Phone Cooling or the same menu path.
- Do not use a clip-on cooler to mask swelling, a charging fault or heat at idle.
- Do not open the phone or replace its battery without an appropriate diagnosis.
Keep the fix model-specific
iQOO phones differ by processor, battery design, software version, region and accessory support. The reliable approach is to separate game load from charging, remove environmental heat, use approved accessories, and then check only the features your exact model exposes. If those changes do not alter the pattern—or if the phone shows a warning, shutdown, swelling or unusual smell—service is the correct next step, not a more aggressive performance setting.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it normal for an iQOO phone to feel warm during a demanding game?
Some warmth can occur when the processor, graphics hardware, display and network are all working hard. It should ease after you stop and cool the phone. Persistent heat, repeated warnings, shutdowns or heat during idle use is not a normal gaming pattern and warrants authorized service.
Can I keep gaming while the iQOO phone is charging?
Avoid doing so when the phone is already hot. Test the game unplugged, charge before or after the session, and use only the original or manufacturer-approved charger and cable. If your exact model supports Bypass Charging, it may reduce battery-charging heat during a supported game scene, but it does not remove all gaming heat.
Does every iQOO phone include Bypass Charging?
No. The official iQOO 13 page describes the feature for that model, while availability depends on model, software and region. Check the game tools or gaming overlay on your own phone. If the option is absent, do not install an unrelated substitute or assume it is hidden.

Where can I find iManager Phone Cooling?
Only some models provide Phone Cooling through iManager, and the label and menu location vary. Open iManager and look for a cooling, device-care or performance tool. Read its explanation first because lowering CPU frequency can reduce heat while also reducing peak game performance.
Should I put a hot phone in a refrigerator or use an ice pack?
No. Rapid cooling can create condensation and thermal stress that damage electronics. End the game, unplug the phone, move it to a shaded, dry and ventilated hard surface, remove an insulating case if safe, and let it return to normal gradually.
What charger should I buy if my iQOO charger is damaged?
Use the original charger or a manufacturer-approved replacement intended for your exact model and market, together with a compatible data cable. Do not choose solely by a wattage number. A frayed, cracked, loose, discolored or unusually hot accessory should be removed from service.

Will a clip-on gaming cooler fix overheating?
A compatible clip-on smartphone cooler may help during sustained gaming after you lower settings and improve airflow. Verify fit with the phone and case and follow its instructions. It is not a repair for a swollen battery, charging fault, warning, shutdown or heat that occurs while idle.
When should I stop troubleshooting and contact service?
Stop using and charging the phone for repeated temperature warnings, automatic shutdowns, marked idle heat, swelling or a lifting screen/back cover, chemical or burnt smells, or damaged, sparking or excessively hot charging equipment. Do not open the phone or replace the battery yourself; use an authorized service centre.
The Bottom Line
Cool the phone first, then separate gaming heat from charging heat by testing unplugged. Lower graphics and frame rate, reduce brightness, close active background work, improve airflow and avoid long sessions while charging. Use approved accessories and model-specific tools such as Bypass Charging or iManager Phone Cooling only when your phone actually supports them.
Warnings, shutdowns, swelling, unusual smells, damaged charging equipment or heat that persists while idle are service issues, not settings problems. Stop use and charging and contact an authorized centre.
