If Apple Maps shows your old address, first identify where the wrong information is stored: your personal home pin in Maps, the Home address on your Contacts My Card, or Apple’s public map data. These are separate records, especially on iOS 18 and later. Edit or refine a saved Maps place, update My Card separately when needed, and submit a report only when the public map itself is wrong.
Identify which “home address” is wrong
The quickest fix depends on what you see on screen. A wrong destination that appears under Places is usually your personal saved home location. A wrong address shown in your contact details is a Contacts problem. A street, building, business, road entrance, or other feature that is wrong for everyone is public map information and needs a report.

On iOS 18 and later, Maps can store a home or work address that differs from the home or work address on your Contact Card. Changing one therefore does not necessarily change the other. Decide which record you want to correct before you start.
Fix a wrong or outdated Home pin in Maps on iPhone
Use these steps when the address listed for your personal home in Maps is old, or when the map pin is in the wrong spot.

1. Open your saved Places
- Open Maps on your iPhone.
- Scroll the Maps screen until you reach Places.
- Find the saved home location. The entry may show the old street address or the location represented by your home label.
2. Open the place editor
- Touch and hold the saved home location.
- Tap Edit Details.
The editor is where you decide whether the address text is wrong, the pin is misplaced, or the entire saved place should be replaced.
3. Move a pin that is geographically wrong
If the street address is correct but the marker sits on the wrong house, entrance, driveway, or parcel, do not create a second address. In the editor:
- Tap Refine Location on the Map.
- Move the map or pin until it sits on the correct location.
- Tap Done.
This changes the position of your personal saved pin. It is different from reporting a public map error; the adjustment is for your saved home place rather than a correction visible to every Maps user.
4. Change the saved address or label
If you moved and Maps still uses your previous address, edit the place details and enter the current address. If the correct address is already available as another saved place, add or designate it as My home. Check the displayed street number, street name, town or city, postal code, and any apartment or unit information before saving.
5. Remove the old saved place if it remains
An outdated entry can remain in Places after you add the new one. Touch and hold the old saved place and tap Unpin. Removing the obsolete entry prevents Maps from continuing to offer it when you ask for directions home.
Update the Home address in Contacts My Card
Contacts is a separate source of address information. Correct it when your contact card still contains the previous home, when Siri or autofill uses the wrong address, or when another Apple feature displays the old Contact Card value.

- Open Contacts.
- Tap My Card.
- Tap Edit.
- Add the correct address or replace the outdated one.
- Set the address label to Home.
- Tap Done.
Contacts home and work details can be used by features such as Weather, autofill, Siri, and other address-aware functions. Correcting only the Maps pin will not reliably update those features.

Use “Add to Contact Card” when Maps offers it
When you set or change a home location in Maps, Maps may offer Add to Contact Card. Choose that option if you want the same address copied to My Card. Review the resulting contact entry afterward, because the two records can still be edited independently.
Apple warns that once Maps has prompted you to synchronize a home address with My Card, changing the Maps address later may require a corresponding Contacts edit. If one app continues to show the old value, open My Card directly and correct it rather than repeatedly editing the map pin.
Report an incorrect public map address or feature
Use reporting only when the map data itself is wrong or incomplete—for example, a public road is drawn incorrectly, a place is missing, an address is attached to the wrong location, or a building entrance is represented inaccurately. A report is not the normal way to change your private saved Home place.

You can start a report from the affected map area or from your profile reports list.

- Open Maps and display the area containing the problem.
- Touch and hold the affected map area until a pin appears.
- Scroll down the information card.
- Tap Report Something Missing.
- Select the issue category that best describes the problem.
- Provide the requested details and follow the prompts to submit the report.
From your profile
- In Maps, tap your profile picture or initials.
- Choose Reports.
- Tap Report a New Issue.
- Select the relevant issue and complete the form.
Describe what is wrong in terms another reviewer can verify: the visible street or place name, the incorrect address, the correct location, and whether the feature is missing, misplaced, closed, or otherwise inaccurate. Do not describe a private saved Home pin as a public-data error unless the underlying public map feature is also wrong.

Report from Maps on Mac
- Open Maps on your Mac.
- Choose Maps > Report an Issue.
- Select the relevant category.
- Enter the location and a clear description of the problem.
- Submit the report.
Apple’s Mac reporting instructions specify that this feature requires a Mac with Apple silicon, the Apple T2 Security Chip, or a Touch Bar. If your Mac does not meet those hardware requirements or the menu is unavailable, use the iPhone reporting route instead.
Submitted Mac reports from the previous 90 days can be reviewed in the Reports area. That 90-day window is a history feature, not a promise that Apple will resolve an issue within 90 days. Apple’s guidance does not provide a guaranteed correction deadline or promise that every report will be accepted.
Choose the correct fix at a glance

Why Maps and Contacts can disagree
Older instructions often assume that “home” is one shared address. That is no longer a safe assumption. Apple’s current guidance says that in iOS 18, Maps can have a home or work address different from the corresponding Contact Card address. The same distinction is reflected in Apple’s cross-device documentation for iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia.
That separation explains several common situations:
- You correct the Maps home pin, but Contacts still displays the former address.
- You update My Card, but the saved Home place in Maps remains unchanged.
- One feature uses the address from Contacts while turn-by-turn navigation uses the saved Maps place.
- Maps offers to add an address to My Card, but later edits do not automatically keep both records synchronized.
When two apps disagree, inspect both records rather than assuming the edit failed. First confirm the Maps entry under Places, then open My Card and verify the Home field independently.
Version and interface differences
iOS 18 and later
The current iPhone workflow uses Places, Edit Details, and Refine Location on the Map. Maps and Contacts can contain separate home and work addresses, so use the app that owns the incorrect value.

Older iPhone software
Menu names can differ substantially on older releases. Apple’s documented older path for iOS 14 or earlier is Info > Report an Issue > Home. If you do not see Places, Edit Details, or the current reporting labels, check the iOS version and follow the labels shown on that device rather than assuming a control is missing.
Mac and iPad considerations
Apple’s current cross-device guidance covers iPhone, iPad, and Mac, but the reporting workflow described specifically for Mac has hardware requirements. On a Mac, look for Maps > Report an Issue. On iPhone, use the affected map area or your profile’s Reports section. If a label differs on an iPad or older system, the distinction remains the same: edit the saved place for a personal pin, edit My Card for contact data, and report public map data.

The map pin is correct, but the written address is wrong
Open the saved place’s Edit Details screen and correct the address fields. Do not use Refine Location on the Map unless the geographic position itself is wrong; refinement changes placement, not the underlying street text.
The written address is correct, but the pin is wrong
Use Refine Location on the Map, move the marker to the correct property, and tap Done. If the public road or entrance is also misplaced for other users, submit a separate public map report.
You cannot find the old Home entry
Scroll fully to Places and look for the saved location rather than searching the map as though it were a public business. If the entry is present but duplicated, remove the obsolete one with Unpin.

Open Contacts > My Card > Edit, replace the address, set the label to Home, and save. If Maps offers Add to Contact Card, use it when you want the Maps value copied over, then verify the contact card.
Contacts is correct but Maps still routes to the old address
Return to Maps > Places, edit the saved Home location, and replace or remove the outdated entry. Updating My Card alone does not guarantee that the separate Maps home place will change.
The report option is not visible
Confirm that you are reporting a public map issue, not editing a private saved place. On iPhone, touch and hold the affected area until a pin appears, then scroll the card. You can also open your profile, select Reports, and choose Report a New Issue. On Mac, the reporting menu requires Apple silicon, the T2 Security Chip, or a Touch Bar.
You expect a report to be fixed immediately
Apple’s instructions do not state a resolution deadline. Keep the report description precise and use the Reports area to review your submission where available, but do not treat the 90-day Mac history window as a correction guarantee.

Verify the correction before relying on it
After editing, test the exact feature that was failing:
- For a Maps pin, open Places again and confirm the displayed address and marker position.
- For a Contacts correction, open My Card and verify the address label is Home.
- For navigation, start a route to the saved Home place and check the destination card before beginning.
- For a public report, reopen Maps’ Reports area when available to confirm that the submission appears in your history.
If only one Apple feature remains wrong, identify whether it reads Maps Places or Contacts My Card. Correct that specific record instead of repeatedly submitting public reports.
Privacy and accuracy checks
A personal home pin and a public map report have different audiences. Use the Maps and Contacts editors for your own saved information. Submit a public report only for information that should be corrected on the map itself, and include enough location detail for Apple to identify the feature without adding unnecessary private information.
Before saving an address, check unit numbers, postal codes, spelling, and the pin’s position. A small address-field error can send navigation to a neighboring property even when the marker appears close to home.

When to use each route
Use this decision sequence whenever Apple Maps shows an old or incorrect home address:
- Look at the destination in Maps > Places. If the saved entry is wrong, edit, refine, replace, or unpin it.
- Open Contacts > My Card. If the Home field is wrong, edit it separately and save.
- Inspect the public map. If the street, place, entrance, or address is wrong for everyone, submit an issue report from iPhone or Mac.
- Check your operating-system version if the labels do not match. iOS 18 and later use the current Places workflow; older versions may use different paths.
- Verify the corrected record in the app that originally showed the error.
This separation prevents the most common mistake: treating a private saved Home pin, a Contact Card field, and public Apple map data as one address record.
