If the generated lyric or vocal performance is garbled, make a new generation with clearer lyrics and instructions. If the words are intelligible on their own but buried by the backing track, separate the vocal and rebalance it against the accompaniment. Stem separation can help with masking; it cannot recreate syllables the model never produced clearly.
Diagnose the problem before editing
Listen to the vocal by itself if you can, then compare it with the full song. This separates two problems that can sound similar:

- Wrong or unclear words in the vocal itself: the lyric, pronunciation, or performance needs to be regenerated or otherwise changed. Raising the vocal in the mix will not fix it.
- Clear words masked by the music: the vocal may be usable, but the accompaniment is competing with it. A vocal stem and a balance adjustment may help.
Check the lyric against the intended words before spending time on EQ or volume changes. If the vocal alone is already unintelligible, treat it as a generation problem.

Regenerate when the lyrics or vocal performance are wrong
Give the generator a more explicit brief
Place custom words in a clearly marked lyrics section. Name the language, label sections such as verse, chorus, and bridge, and describe the vocal delivery and singer qualities you want. Google’s Lyria guidance recommends specific prompts, the target language, and section labels; it also notes that generated results can vary between calls. These details can guide a new attempt, but do not guarantee a particular performance.

Use the revision workflow available on your platform
Controls are not interchangeable across services. Suno’s Reuse Prompt workflow lets users revise lyrics and style before creating a new version. By contrast, Google’s Lyria 3.5 documentation, last updated October 1, 2026, says generation is single-turn and does not support iterative refinement through multiple prompts. Check the instructions for the specific generator and version you are using rather than assuming a feature exists everywhere.
Separate and rebalance a vocal that is buried
If the lyric is clear in the vocal but masked in the full mix, extract the lead vocal or use a vocal-and-complement split. Bring the resulting tracks into an editor or DAW, then adjust their relative levels so the words are easier to hear without making the accompaniment disappear.

Choose based on whether you need only a vocal split or several instrument stems, where you want to edit, how much control you need, and whether artifacts are acceptable. The available evidence does not establish a best-performing separator for repairing AI-generated songs.

Check the separated vocal for damage
Listen to the extracted vocal by itself and then in the full mix. Separation can leave instrumental bleed or make the voice sound watery; Suno specifically acknowledges these possible artifacts in its own guidance. If consonants become less distinct or the artifacts distract from the words, try another separation mode if available, or return to a new generation when the performance itself is flawed.
Headphones can make it easier to compare the vocal stem with the complete mix while editing. They are a monitoring aid, not a way to repair missing or garbled words, and they cannot guarantee how the result will sound on other playback systems.

What stem separation can—and cannot—fix
Separation can make an existing vocal easier to balance against its accompaniment. It does not reliably reconstruct a lyric that was sung incorrectly, merge fragmented syllables into the intended words, or guarantee a clean vocal-only file. There is no established independent success-rate comparison for vocal repair on AI-generated songs, so treat any result as something to audition rather than a promised fix.
