If AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, DWG TrueView, or another Autodesk application says AcInetUI.dll is missing or AcInetUI.dll was not found, repair the affected Autodesk installation rather than downloading a loose DLL. AcInetUI.dll is identified as a product-specific Autodesk component, and the matching installer is the only reliable way to restore its version, architecture, and dependent files.

What AcInetUI.dll is and why the error appears

A DLL (dynamic-link library) is a module that stores functions and data that another program can use. Microsoft describes a DLL as “a module that contains functions and data that can be used by another module or DLL.” AcInetUI.dll, also written as acinetui.dll, is associated with Autodesk CAD software rather than being a normal Windows component.

Available file-analysis records identify it as a 32-bit Autodesk AutoCAD component. Software inventories have listed it with Autodesk DWG TrueView 2017 and AutoCAD LT 2016. Those records are not a complete product catalog, so do not assume that every AcInetUI.dll error belongs to those exact releases. Read the product name and version in your own error message, application folder, or Autodesk installation before choosing a repair.

Windows can show the message when the file was deleted, quarantined, damaged, removed during an upgrade, or replaced by a file from a different release. The same message can also result when another dependency that AcInetUI.dll needs is missing or incompatible. A DLL can therefore be present on disk and still fail to load.

Capture the exact error and identify the Autodesk release

Do this before uninstalling anything. The product and release determine which files and dependencies the repair must restore.

  1. Write down the complete message. Note whether it says “AcInetUI.dll is missing,” “AcInetUI.dll was not found,” or names another module as well. Record any error code and whether the message appears when launching, opening a drawing, or using a particular command.
  2. Check the application’s About screen. If the program opens far enough, choose its Help or application menu and open About. Record the product name, edition, and year or build.
  3. Check Windows’ installed-apps list. In Windows 11, open Settings > Apps > Installed apps. In Windows 10, open Settings > Apps > Apps & features. Search for AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, DWG TrueView, or the Autodesk product named by the error.
  4. Inspect the installation folder without moving files. Right-click the application shortcut, choose Open file location, and note the folder path. A file’s location can help distinguish the Autodesk release that is failing, but do not copy a DLL from that folder into a Windows system directory.
  5. Record Windows architecture. Open Settings > System > About and note whether Windows is 64-bit or 32-bit. A 32-bit application component must be supplied by the matching application package; Windows’ architecture alone does not tell you which Autodesk installer to use.

If several Autodesk products are installed, identify the one that produces the message. Repairing a different release may leave the failing program unchanged or introduce another version conflict.

Use the Autodesk installer’s Repair option first

Repair is normally the least disruptive fix because it restores the application’s expected files and dependencies without requiring you to locate a standalone DLL.

Repair from Windows installed apps

  1. Close the Autodesk application and any Autodesk launchers or update windows.
  2. Open the installed-apps page described above and select the exact product and release that generated the error.
  3. Choose Modify, Change, Repair, or a similarly named maintenance option. The label varies by product year and installer technology.
  4. If the Autodesk maintenance window offers Repair, select it and allow the process to complete. Approve an administrator prompt if Windows requests one.
  5. Restart Windows after the repair, even if the installer does not insist on a reboot.
  6. Launch the same Autodesk product and repeat the action that originally produced the error. Confirm whether the message is gone before deleting logs or changing another installation.

Keep the product open long enough to test the failing workflow. A successful launch alone does not prove that every dependent module is available; opening a drawing or using the command that previously failed is a better check.

Repair with the original Autodesk installer

If Windows shows no maintenance option, start the installer or installation media for the same product release. Choose Repair or Modify when offered. Do not select a newer year merely because it is available: a newer release may install a different component set and does not necessarily satisfy an older application’s dependency.

Use installation media or an installer obtained through the legitimate Autodesk channel for your license. If the installer asks for the serial number, sign-in, deployment location, or installation source, provide the details used for that product. A repair that points to an incomplete or mismatched source can stop partway through and leave the original problem unresolved.

Reinstall the same Autodesk product when Repair is unavailable

When the repair entry is missing, damaged, or unsuccessful, a clean reinstall of the same release replaces the complete application file set. This is different from downloading AcInetUI.dll by itself.

  1. Back up custom templates, profiles, plot styles, add-ins, and other work-related settings that your Autodesk product stores outside the main program folder.
  2. Save your installer, license or sign-in information, and any deployment instructions before removing the application.
  3. In Settings > Apps > Installed apps (or Apps & features), select the exact failing Autodesk release and choose Uninstall. Follow the product’s removal prompts.
  4. Restart Windows if the uninstaller requests it. If Autodesk supplies a product-specific cleanup or deployment procedure for your edition, follow that procedure rather than deleting arbitrary folders.
  5. Install the same release from the official Autodesk installer or original media. Select the components your workflow requires and let the installer complete without interruption.
  6. Restart Windows, open the application, and test the operation that failed.

Uninstalling can remove shared components or customized settings, which is why a backup matters. If the product is managed by an employer or school, ask the administrator for the approved installer and license procedure instead of removing a managed deployment yourself.

Check Windows servicing only after the Autodesk installation is correct

If a matching Autodesk repair or reinstall still fails, Windows itself may have a damaged component store or an update problem. These checks support the operating system; they do not replace repairing the Autodesk product.

Install pending Windows updates

  1. Open Settings > Windows Update.
  2. Choose Check for updates and install applicable updates.
  3. Restart when prompted, then check again until Windows reports that no further updates are ready.
  4. Retry the Autodesk application.

On a managed computer, update policies may delay or restrict installation. Do not bypass those policies; ask the administrator whether a servicing window or approved update package is required.

Run DISM RestoreHealth from an elevated terminal

Microsoft documents DISM component-store repair for applicable Windows servicing problems. Run it only when you can allow the process to finish.

  1. Open the Start menu, type Terminal or Command Prompt, right-click the result, and choose Run as administrator.
  2. Enter DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press Enter.
  3. Wait for DISM to reach completion. Do not close the window because the percentage appears to pause.
  4. Restart Windows when it finishes, then test the Autodesk product again.

DISM repairs Windows servicing data; it does not recreate an Autodesk-specific AcInetUI.dll with the correct product version. If the Autodesk repair was skipped, return to that step rather than copying a file into a system folder.

Why downloading AcInetUI.dll separately is unsafe

A search result offering a single DLL is not a substitute for the Autodesk installer. A downloaded copy can have the wrong version, architecture, digital-signature status, or build dependencies. Even a file with the right name may belong to a different Autodesk release.

  • Do not copy a downloaded file to C:WindowsSystem32.
  • Do not copy it to C:WindowsSysWOW64. The folder names do not mean “32-bit” and “64-bit” in the intuitive way, and manual placement can create new conflicts.
  • Do not overwrite a file in an Autodesk folder unless an official Autodesk procedure specifically instructs you to do so.
  • Do not run mass regsvr32 commands. Registering every DLL is not a general repair method, and many application DLLs are not intended to be registered.
  • Do not disable security software simply to force a DLL into place. If a security product quarantined a file, review its detection and use the official Autodesk installation path to restore the application.

Replacing one file without the application context can leave the loader facing a second missing dependency or a version conflict. It can also make later support harder because the installation no longer matches its recorded files.

Choose the remedy by authenticity, version, and supportability

Remedy Source authenticity Version and architecture match Dependencies restored Supportability
Autodesk Repair for the installed release Official product maintenance path Uses the installed release’s package Designed to restore the application set Best first choice; preserves normal installer records
Reinstall the same Autodesk release Official installer or original media Match the exact product and year Replaces the full installation Strong option when Repair is unavailable
Windows Update and DISM servicing checks Microsoft Windows servicing Addresses Windows components, not a specific Autodesk build Repairs applicable operating-system servicing data Useful follow-up after the application path is correct
Standalone DLL download Unknown archive or mirror Cannot be trusted without the matching package Does not restore related files Unsupported and likely to create further conflicts

The practical decision is straightforward: use Repair when it is available; reinstall the same release when it is not; investigate Windows servicing only after confirming that the Autodesk installation matches the error. A random DLL archive scores poorly on every criterion that matters.

Troubleshoot the result after reinstalling

The error names a different Autodesk product

Repeat the identification process for the product named in the message. Multiple Autodesk releases can coexist, and repairing AutoCAD LT will not necessarily repair DWG TrueView or a separate AutoCAD installation.

The file exists but Windows still reports it as missing

“Missing” can mean that the loader could not satisfy a dependency, not that the named file is absent. Confirm that the repair or reinstall completed successfully, restart Windows, and test the application from its normal shortcut. Avoid replacing the visible file manually; the matching installer is the way to align its dependencies.

The installer fails before it completes

Write down the installer’s exact message and exit code if one appears. Check available disk space, run the installer with the permissions required by your organization, and verify that you are using the same release’s installation source. If the computer is managed, obtain the deployment package from the administrator rather than mixing files from another machine.

The problem began after an upgrade or security quarantine

Record the date and the update or security event, then use the official Autodesk Repair path. Do not restore a quarantined DLL from an arbitrary backup. If the security product identifies a file as suspicious, preserve that detection information for Autodesk or your security administrator.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Only one Windows user sees the problem

Test with an authorized account only if your organization permits it. A user-profile or permission issue can produce a different symptom from a damaged shared installation. Do not grant broad write access to the Autodesk or Windows folders as a workaround.

What to send Autodesk support if the error persists

Escalation is more effective when support can reproduce the exact environment. Gather the following before opening a case:

  • The full AcInetUI.dll message, including any additional module or error code.
  • The Autodesk product name, edition, year, build, and installation path.
  • Your Windows edition, version, and 32-bit or 64-bit architecture.
  • The date the problem began and whether it followed an update, upgrade, uninstall, restore, or security event.
  • The steps you already tried: Repair, same-release reinstall, Windows Update, and DISM, with the result of each.
  • Autodesk installation logs and any Windows Event Viewer application-error details.
  • Whether other Autodesk products on the same computer start normally.

Do not email a DLL copied from an unknown website as a proposed fix. Preserve the original error text and logs instead; they show which release and dependency the installer needs to address.

If the official Autodesk repair or reinstall has not resolved the dependency problem, Outbyte PC Repair can be used as an optional shortcut for checking common Windows issues, damaged system elements, settings, temporary files, and crash records. It complements antivirus software rather than replacing it, results vary, and no utility repairs every application failure. It runs on Windows 11, 10, 8, and 7, offers a free trial by category for at least two days, and then requires a subscription.

Final checklist

  • Identify the exact Autodesk product and release named by the error.
  • Use that product’s official Repair option first.
  • If Repair is unavailable, uninstall and reinstall the same release from official media.
  • Apply Windows updates and use DISM servicing repair only as a follow-up.
  • Never place a downloaded AcInetUI.dll in a Windows system folder or use broad registration commands.
  • If the message remains, provide Autodesk support with the product details, Windows architecture, full error text, logs, and the steps already completed.
