In practical terms, AcDelTree.exe should be treated as one component of a larger installation, not as an independent Windows utility. Autodesk normally places product executables inside its own installed folders and delivers them through a complete installer. That is why restoring the parent product is safer than trying to locate a matching file by name.
Check whether the copy is trustworthy before running it
Autodesk normally supplies this executable as part of an installer, not as a standalone download. A loose file from an executable-download site is therefore the wrong starting point. A download may be an old build, may not match your product language or release, and may be modified.
Why the filename is not enough

The hash is an identifier for that observed sample, not a safe hash that every legitimate Autodesk copy should have. Different releases, languages, patches, and builds can have different hashes. A match to the listed value would be a serious warning, while a mismatch alone would not prove that a file is legitimate.
Inspect the location
Write down the complete path shown in the error, Task Manager, or your security product. A path inside the installed Autodesk or DWG TrueView folders is consistent with a product file, although location by itself is not proof. A copy in a temporary directory, a user profile, a Startup location, or an unrelated application’s folder deserves a scan before you allow it to run.
If the error names a path you do not recognize, do not launch that file to see what happens. Close the triggering application, preserve the path and timestamp shown by the alert, and examine it with security software first. The MD5 command lets you compare the file with a known record; the hash above is the one reported for the malware-detected sample, not a safe reference value. Keep the complete path, signature result, and hash in your incident notes so that an administrator or security team can compare them later. Do not execute a file merely to test whether it opens.
Scan suspicious copies
Run a current security scan on the file and its containing folder when the location, signature, or behavior is suspicious. Scan before attempting Repair or Reinstall if the alert came from an unexpected folder, because reinstalling the Autodesk product does not remove persistence elsewhere on the computer.
If the scanner confirms malware, quarantine or remove the object and investigate other files or persistence mechanisms that may have been changed. Continue with Autodesk repair only after the security incident is being handled. If the same executable keeps returning outside the Autodesk folder, treat that recurrence as evidence of an unresolved malware problem rather than a failed application repair.
Record the error context
Before changing the installation, capture these details:
- The exact wording of the error, including whether it says the file is missing, cannot start, failed to initialize, or is not a valid Win32 application.

An installer or another Autodesk product names the file
Do not assume DWG TrueView is the only possible parent. AutoCAD or an Autodesk installer may be calling a component with the same name. Record the parent process and repair that product rather than installing a random TrueView file over it.
Repair the Autodesk installation
Classic Autodesk installers (2021 and earlier)
Autodesk explains that deleting or altering required product files can prevent commands from running and can produce missing-file errors. For products using the classic installer, use Windows’ repair option:
- Close DWG TrueView, AutoCAD, and other Autodesk programs. Save open drawings first.
- Open Control Panel and choose Programs followed by Programs and Features.
- Select the affected Autodesk product, not an unrelated runtime or viewer.
- Choose Uninstall/Change.
- In the Autodesk maintenance dialog, select Repair or Reinstall.
- Choose Repair first and let the process finish without interrupting it.
- Restart Windows and test the Autodesk application.
Repair restores the initially installed registry entries and replaces missing product files. It is the least disruptive option when the installation is present but a file has been deleted or altered. It also avoids the mismatch risk that comes from copying a file from a different release.

If the maintenance dialog cannot find the original installation source, note the exact message and use the matching Autodesk installer instead of downloading AcDelTree.exe separately. A complete installer is able to restore the product’s file set and registration information together.
When to use Reinstall instead
If Repair does not restore AcDelTree.exe or the same error returns, repeat the maintenance process and choose Reinstall. Autodesk describes Reinstall as repairing the registry and reinstalling all product files. It is appropriate when several files are damaged or the first repair did not complete successfully.
Reinstall is also the logical next step when the executable exists but fails signature or integrity checks and the security scan finds no active malware. The goal is to replace the entire trusted product set, not just the one named file.

The /P value identifies the product, /M AOEM selects the Autodesk installation mode, /language en-US specifies the language, and /Q requests quiet operation. The command is not a general AcDelTree.exe replacement command; it invokes the product installer to repair the installation. Reinstall from Autodesk when repair fails

- Uninstall the affected Autodesk product using the normal Autodesk or Windows uninstall workflow.
- Restart Windows if the uninstaller requests it, and close other Autodesk processes before reinstalling.
- Download the matching DWG TrueView release from Autodesk’s official product or support page.
- Run the installer and allow it to restore all product files and registration data.
- Restart again, then open DWG TrueView and a known-good DWG drawing.
Some newer Autodesk installation frameworks do not offer the older Repair/Reinstall dialog. - Launch the Autodesk application that originally produced the message.
- Open a DWG file known to be valid and confirm that viewing or conversion works.
- Run the command or workflow that originally triggered the error, not only the application’s splash screen.
- Check that the same error does not appear during startup or when you run the affected command.
- Confirm that AcDelTree.exe is now located under the expected Autodesk product directory and that security software has not raised a new alert.
- If a copy of AcDelTree.exe appears again in an unrelated location, or security alerts continue, stop treating the issue as a normal application-file repair and continue malware remediation.

What not to do
- Do not download a standalone AcDelTree.exe. Autodesk distributes the file within its product installer, and at least one sample with this name has a malware verdict.
- Do not copy the file into
C:WindowsSystem32. That does not repair the parent application’s registration and can introduce an untrusted executable into a sensitive directory. - Do not use a registry cleaner as the primary fix. The supported repair process restores the Autodesk registry entries together with its files.
- Do not assume a Windows update, System Restore, or a generic “EXE fixer” will repair this error. Those actions are not a guaranteed solution for a damaged Autodesk installation and can obscure the original cause.
- Do not ignore a location or signature mismatch. Replacing a suspicious file with another copy can leave malware persistence in place.
- Do not mix releases. A file from TrueView 2019, AutoCAD, or another language is not automatically interchangeable with the component named by your installation.
