How to Fix a Worx Landroid Vision Mower That Won’t Start, Connect or Find Its Way Back to the Charging Station

By Freedom251 Team · · 11 min read

A Landroid Vision that will not start, connect, or dock usually needs a setup correction rather than a replacement part. Start with the mower at its powered charging station, read the exact message on the display, and work through the matching branch: complete the PIN and Start confirmation for startup, meet the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi requirements for app access, or correct station position, QR-code visibility, approach space, contacts, and battery level for a failed return.

Charging-station recognition is independent of home networking. Vision reads the station’s QR code; it does not communicate with the station over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. That distinction prevents you from trying to fix a docking fault by changing router settings.

Start with the message on the mower

Leave the mower where it is for a moment and record the wording shown on its screen. Messages such as “Can’t find charge station! Press START to reset.”, “Camera blocked!”, St:En, a low-voltage battery warning, and an E1 power or grass error point to different fixes. A mower that is simply waiting in standby also needs a different sequence from one that has lost its map.

Use this order so that a low battery or an unconfirmed map does not get mistaken for a network or hardware failure:

  1. Put the mower on the charging station and make sure it is seated correctly.
  2. Read the display and follow the corresponding section below.
  3. Only after the mower can start and charge normally should you troubleshoot app pairing.
  4. If it can mow but cannot dock, inspect the base, its approach path, camera view, QR code, contacts, power, and firmware.

Worx’s initial-start instructions and the Vision owner’s manual are the controlling references for the exact prompt and model-specific error text.

When the Worx Landroid Vision won’t start

Complete the normal startup sequence

Pressing Start alone is not always enough. Worx’s sequence assumes the mower begins at its charging station with sufficient charge:

  1. Place the mower on the station and allow it to charge.
  2. Turn the mower on.
  3. Enter the mower’s PIN.
  4. Press Start.
  5. Read and confirm the prompt shown on the display.

If Vision does not recognize its current location, it can ask you to confirm the mowing zone. Confirm the correct zone rather than repeatedly pressing Start; the location confirmation is part of the startup process described by Worx.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Resolve the St:En initial-setup message

St:En indicates the initial mapping sequence. Begin with Vision at the station and provide at least 2 m of clear space in front of the station. Let the mower explore the work area and return to the station. When it prompts you, press OK to save the map.

If you stop the sequence or fail to confirm the map, the map is not saved. The initial-setup error can then return the next time you try to operate the mower. Do not treat a repeated St:En prompt as proof that the camera or drive system is defective; first repeat the exploration with the required clearance and complete the confirmation step. Worx describes the procedure in its St:En mapping guidance.

Check whether charging temperature is blocking the start

The owner’s manual states that charging is prevented when the battery temperature is above 45 °C or below 4 °C. Move the mower and station out of the temperature extreme and wait until the battery returns to the permitted range. It will not resume charging while the temperature remains outside that range, so repeatedly entering the PIN or pressing Start will not solve this condition.

Handle a low-voltage battery message

For a low-voltage battery error, turn the mower off and place it on the station for emergency charging. If the same battery error remains after that emergency charge, the manual identifies the battery as damaged and says it needs changing. Confirm the exact WR model before buying a replacement battery; the documentation does not establish one universal battery SKU for every Landroid Vision model.

Clean a blocked camera before trying again

“Camera blocked!” means the camera is covered by dirt. Clean the camera area carefully, return the mower to the station, and retry the startup or mapping operation. A camera obstruction can also stop Vision from recognizing the station later, so cleaning it is relevant to both startup and docking.

When the mower won’t connect to the app or Wi-Fi

Meet every Wi-Fi setup prerequisite

Vision’s Wi-Fi setup has conditions that are easy to miss. Before opening the pairing flow, verify each item in this table.

Requirement What to verify
Network type Use your secured main network, not guest or public Wi-Fi.
Radio band Use a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
Mower position Keep the mower docked on its charging station during setup.
Battery Charge the mower to at least 50%.
Signal during pairing Keep the mower, phone, and router close together while pairing.

These requirements come from Worx’s Wi-Fi setup requirements. A phone connected to a 5 GHz-only network, a mower away from its dock, or a battery below the stated threshold can make a correct password appear to fail.

Pair through the app’s APP-Link procedure

  1. Put Vision on the powered station and confirm that it is charging.
  2. Make sure the phone is close to the mower and the router.
  3. Open the Worx app and start its APP-Link procedure.
  4. Select the intended secured 2.4 GHz network when the app asks for one.
  5. Follow the on-screen pairing prompts without moving the mower away from the station.
  6. Wait for the success message before closing the app or starting a mowing cycle.

Worx’s Vision internet-connection guide describes the app pairing flow. If the app does not report success, repeat the prerequisites rather than adding the mower to a guest network.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Understand what poor coverage does to app commands

Remote commands sent while the mower is in an area with weak or no Wi-Fi may not execute immediately. Worx says they execute when the mower returns to an area with a good signal. This can look like a failed command even though the mower has accepted it and is waiting for coverage.

For an unstable connection, check that the charging station itself is within stable Wi-Fi range. Then try the firmware-update route in the app. Worx’s unstable-Wi-Fi guidance identifies a manual USB firmware update as a fallback when the app update cannot be completed. Follow the firmware package and model instructions supplied by Worx; do not install firmware intended for a different WR model.

Do not confuse app connectivity with station recognition

A mower can be offline in the app and still be able to find its physical station, because Vision identifies the station by reading its QR code. Conversely, a mower can have good app connectivity and still fail to dock if the station is wrongly oriented, blocked, dirty, unpowered, or outside the camera’s view. Troubleshoot those as separate systems.

When it cannot find the charging station

First rule out insufficient charge

If the display says “Can’t find charge station! Press START to reset.”, the manual says the mower may not have enough power to return. Carry it to the base and let it charge before testing navigation again. A nearly empty battery can produce a return failure even when station placement is correct.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If the mower has enough charge to travel but repeatedly misses the base, continue with the placement and visibility checks below instead of replacing the battery immediately.

Place and orient the station for Vision’s search pattern

Vision searches for its base along the right edge of the lawn. The station’s charging contacts and QR code should point clockwise toward the work area; Vision moves counterclockwise while approaching. An orientation that looks tidy from the garden side can still face the mower in the wrong direction for this search pattern.

Use the Worx charging-base guide to compare the installed position with the required orientation. The mower must have a usable approach from the lawn, not an approach blocked by a wall, edging, stored tools, dense growth, or another obstacle.

Clear the approach and the camera’s view

Inspect the full route to the station, not only the few centimetres immediately in front of the contacts. Remove obstacles and make sure the mower can reach the base without being forced against a boundary. During mapping, Worx requires at least 2 m of clear space in front of the station; preserving a similarly open approach also helps a returning mower line up consistently.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Vision needs to recognize the station’s QR code with its camera. Clean the camera if it reports “Camera blocked!”, and check that grass, dirt, shadows, decorations, or a nearby object are not hiding the QR code. A station can be powered and physically reachable yet still be invisible to the camera.

Inspect the charging contacts

Check that the mower’s contacts can meet the station’s contacts squarely. Dirt, soil, grass clippings, corrosion, a shifted base, or an obstruction can prevent charging even after the mower has found the station. The base guide specifically calls out charging-contact detection, access, and obstacles as causes to check before assuming a component has failed.

  • Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft

Do not force the mower into the station. Remove the obstruction, restore a level approach, and retry a controlled return. If it reaches the base but does not begin charging, compare the contact alignment and the station indicator before considering a part replacement.

Check station power and the ground around it

For an E1 power or grass issue, inspect the station’s power supply. If the station indicator is green, restart the mower. If the indicator is off, reconnect the supply and try another electrical socket. Also remove stones, soil, and uneven patches near the base; these can lift the mower, divert its wheels, or keep the contacts from meeting.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Worx gives these checks in its E1 power or grass troubleshooting page. Correct the supply and ground conditions before buying a new station.

Consider firmware only after the physical checks

The base troubleshooting guidance lists firmware alongside station position, obstacles, QR-code recognition, and contact detection. If the installation is correct but return behavior remains unreliable, use the official app firmware-update path. Where an unstable connection prevents that update, the manual USB method described in Worx’s E25 and unstable-Wi-Fi instructions is the fallback.

What the common error messages mean

Display message or symptom Meaning indicated by Worx First action
Can’t find charge station! Press START to reset. The mower may not have enough power to return. Carry it to the station and charge it; then test navigation.
Low-voltage battery error Emergency charging is required; a persistent error indicates a damaged battery. Turn the mower off, place it on the base, and replace the battery only if the error persists.
Camera blocked! Dirt is covering the camera. Clean the camera and retry recognition.
St:En The initial mapping sequence has not been completed and saved. Start at the station, provide 2 m of clearance, let Vision explore and return, then press OK.
E1 power or grass issue The station supply or ground around the base needs inspection. Use the indicator-light and socket checks, then remove stones, soil, and uneven ground.
Mower locked after a Lock Function condition The mower requires the Wi-Fi condition associated with its original pairing. Reconnect it to the originally paired network or contact Worx Customer Service.

The battery, temperature, camera, and lock behavior are documented in the Vision owner’s manual. The exact wording can vary by model and firmware, so use the message on your mower as the starting point.

When a replacement battery or charging-base part is justified

Battery replacement

A replacement battery is justified by the manual’s specific condition: turn the mower off, place it on the base for emergency charging, and replace the battery only if the low-voltage battery error persists. Before ordering, verify compatibility with the exact WR model printed on the mower and its documentation. The official material does not establish a single battery part number or universal fit for all Vision models.

If the mower merely fails to return once, or if it is below the charge needed for the trip, correct the charge and station conditions first. Buying a battery cannot fix a hidden QR code, a blocked approach, a failed station power supply, or dirty contacts.

Charging-station or base components

The same diagnostic rule applies to the base. A new station or charging-base component should follow confirmation of physical damage or a verified electrical failure, not precede checks of orientation, right-edge placement, clockwise-facing contacts and QR code, approach clearance, camera visibility, contact alignment, power, ground level, and firmware.

When a part is genuinely required, match it to the exact Landroid Vision model. Worx’s return instructions do not establish a universal charging-base part number or say that most docking failures require a new base.

If the error keeps returning in the same part of the lawn

Recurring errors in one location can indicate a working-area or installation problem. Revisit the installation instructions and inspect that area for a boundary condition, obstacle, uneven surface, or route that prevents the mower from reaching or recognizing the station. The owner’s manual specifically advises treating repeated errors in the same lawn area as a possible working-area setup issue.

Record where the mower stops, the battery level, the displayed message, and whether the station indicator is on. This separates a location-specific navigation problem from a battery or power fault and gives Customer Service useful information if the installation checks do not resolve it.

A complete recovery sequence

Use this checklist after moving the station, cleaning the camera, changing network settings, or updating firmware:

  1. Confirm the station has power. A green indicator supports the restart step; an unlit indicator calls for reconnecting the supply and trying another socket.
  2. Check the ground around the station and remove stones, soil, grass buildup, and uneven patches.
  3. Verify the station sits at the lawn’s right edge with its contacts and QR code oriented clockwise toward the work area.
  4. Clear the approach and preserve the camera’s view of the QR code.
  5. Place Vision on the station and allow it to charge. If a low-voltage message persists after emergency charging, follow the battery-replacement condition.
  6. Power on, enter the PIN, press Start, and confirm the displayed prompt or mowing zone.
  7. If St:En appears, repeat the exploration with at least 2 m clear in front of the station and press OK when Vision returns.
  8. For app control, use a secured 2.4 GHz main network, keep the mower docked with at least 50% battery, keep the phone and router close, and complete APP-Link pairing.
  9. Test a short return-to-base cycle while watching whether Vision sees the QR code, reaches the contacts, and begins charging.

If the same error remains after this sequence, preserve the exact display message and the checks already completed before contacting Worx support. That record is more useful than replacing parts based only on a failed docking attempt.
