If your Samsung Galaxy won’t connect to Wi‑Fi, first check whether the problem is limited to the phone or affects every device on that network. Then restart the phone and router, reconnect to the network, and work through the phone-specific checks below. Samsung’s support guidance is for Galaxy devices; menu names and screen layouts can vary by model and software version.
First, identify what is failing
Check the simple causes before changing settings:
- Make sure Wi‑Fi is switched on and Airplane mode is off.
- Confirm that you are selecting the right network, are within range, and have the current password.
- Check whether another phone, tablet, or computer can find and connect to that same Wi‑Fi network.
If no other device can see or join the network, focus on the router or access point. If other devices connect normally, continue with the Galaxy-specific steps. Samsung’s Wi‑Fi connection troubleshooting guide and Canadian Galaxy Wi‑Fi guide recommend checking these basics.

Restart the phone and router
- Restart your Galaxy phone.
- Turn off the router and modem, if they are separate devices. Wait briefly, then turn them back on and give them time to reconnect to the internet.
- Try connecting the phone again once the network is available.
Restarting both ends is an early, low-effort check recommended by Samsung. If other devices also fail after the restart, check the router’s status and firmware or contact its manufacturer.
If the network appears but the phone will not join
Verify the password and reconnect
Make sure you are entering the current Wi‑Fi password; an old saved password can prevent a connection even if the network name is correct. If you are unsure whether the saved details are the problem, remove the network from the phone and join it again:

- Open Settings and go to Connections > Wi‑Fi.
- Tap the network you are trying to use and choose the option to forget or remove it. The wording can differ by software version.
- Select the network again and enter its current password.
Test in Safe mode
If the phone still cannot connect, Safe mode can help determine whether a downloaded app is interfering. Start the phone in Safe mode using the instructions for your Galaxy model, then try Wi‑Fi. If the connection works in Safe mode, review recently installed apps and remove or investigate likely causes. Restart the phone to exit Safe mode.
If the network is missing or other devices cannot connect
Move closer to the router and check that it is powered on and operating normally. See whether other devices can find the network. If they cannot, the issue is more likely with the router or access point than with the Galaxy phone. Check its firmware and contact the router manufacturer for help; replacing the router is not a standard fix for a phone-specific Wi‑Fi problem.

Reset Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth settings
If the earlier checks do not help, Samsung’s US guide gives this path:

- Open Settings.
- Tap General management > Reset.
- Choose Reset Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth settings, then tap Reset settings and confirm.
This is a connectivity-settings reset, not a factory reset. Samsung Caribbean says it resets Wi‑Fi information, mobile data, and Bluetooth connections, so you may need to reconnect to Wi‑Fi and pair Bluetooth devices again. The route and labels can vary by model and software version.

Run Samsung Members Wi‑Fi diagnostics
If the problem remains, open Samsung Members and go to Support > Get started > Wi‑Fi diagnostics. Samsung Members must be installed. Use the result to decide whether to contact Samsung support about the phone; if other devices also cannot find or use the network, contact the router manufacturer instead.
