What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Start by identifying the exact Razer mouse model and how you are charging it. Turn the mouse off, connect it directly to a computer USB port (not a hub), and leave it charging for at least 30 minutes. Then test a second compatible cable or USB port, check the dock contacts if you use a dock, and compare behavior on another computer. These tests separate a cable, USB, dock, software, and battery-capacity problem without assuming that every Razer mouse uses the same connector or dock.
First, identify the charging path and the exact symptom
Razer wireless mice do not all use the same charging cable, dock, wireless puck, or battery design. Read the model name from the underside of the mouse, its packaging, or the Razer software you normally use. Keep that model name available before downloading firmware or buying an accessory.

Next, record what actually happens. Does the mouse show a charging indicator? Does the percentage move above 0%? Does it work while the cable is attached? Does it die soon after you unplug it? Are you charging through a cable, a dock, or both? Those observations are diagnostic clues, not proof that a particular component has failed.
| Observation | What to compare next |
|---|---|
| No indicator or response when connected by cable | A second compatible cable, another direct PC USB port, and another computer |
| Charges by cable but not on a dock | Dock power, USB connection, pogo pins, mouse contacts, another port, and another computer |
| Shows charging but remains at 0% | At least 30 minutes powered off, then a second cable/port and firmware check |
| Works while plugged in but quickly stops after unplugging | Battery-capacity problem versus a charging-path problem; complete the isolation tests before seeking service |
Write down the result of each test instead of changing several variables simultaneously. A short log can include the cable used, USB port, computer, whether Synapse was running, charging time, and the battery reading before and after. This makes a support case more useful and prevents repeating the same failed setup.

Give the battery a proper initial charge
For a Razer mouse with a lithium battery pack, Razer’s support guidance updated September 22, 2025 says to turn the mouse off and charge it for at least 30 minutes before diagnosing a persistent charging fault. This is a troubleshooting interval, not a promise that the mouse will be full or that a worn battery will recover.
- Move the mouse’s power switch to the off position.
- Connect the charging cable firmly to the mouse and directly to a computer USB port.
- Leave it undisturbed for 30 minutes or longer.
- Turn it on and check whether the indicator or battery percentage has changed.
If the percentage remains at 0%, the indicator never appears, or the mouse immediately dies when unplugged, continue with the isolation steps below rather than repeatedly reconnecting the same setup. A low reading immediately after plugging in does not by itself prove that charging has failed; use the complete interval and then compare the result.
Fix and test cable charging
Cable connector types vary by Razer model, so use the cable intended for your mouse or another known-compatible cable. Do not force a connector into the port.
- Turn the mouse off.
- Inspect the cable for cuts, bent metal, a loose plug, or a connector that no longer seats firmly.
- Insert the connector straight into the mouse’s charging port and make sure it is fully seated.
- Plug the other end directly into a computer USB port. Avoid a keyboard port, unpowered hub, or other intermediary while testing.
- Try a different USB port on that computer.
- If available, repeat the test with a second compatible cable.
- Inspect the mouse port for visible damage or looseness. Stop if the port moves, looks broken, or requires force.
Razer support recommends checking cable function, trying a spare cable and another PC port, and examining the charging port. A successful charge with a different known-compatible cable points to the original cable or its connection, but it does not establish that the battery itself is healthy.
Do not choose a replacement cable solely because its plug looks similar. Confirm the exact mouse model and connector specification first. A cable that fits physically may not be suitable for the device, and forcing a mismatched plug can damage the port. If charging works only when the plug is held at an angle, stop bending or propping it up; that symptom warrants service rather than continued use.
Diagnose a charging dock or wireless charging puck
A dock adds another power and contact path. A mouse can charge by cable while failing to charge on a dock because of the dock’s USB connection, its power delivery, dirty contacts, or an alignment problem. That result identifies the dock path as the place to investigate; it does not by itself identify which component is defective.
Check the dock’s connections
- Disconnect and reconnect the dock’s USB and power connections so each plug is fully seated.
- Connect the dock directly to a computer USB port instead of a hub while testing.
- Try another compatible USB cable, another computer USB port, or another computer when available.
- Place the mouse on the dock carefully and verify that its charging contacts meet the dock’s contacts.
Clean the charging contacts
Dust, debris, or skin oils can interrupt the small spring-loaded contacts (pogo pins) on a dock and the matching contacts on the mouse.

- Unplug the dock and turn the mouse off.
- Remove visible dust or larger debris from the dock with a soft-bristled toothbrush.
- Wipe the dock pogo pins and the mouse charging contacts with a dry Q-tip or lint-free microfiber cloth.
- For stubborn oil or residue, use a cotton bud that is only slightly damp with isopropyl alcohol. Keep liquid away from openings, never spray the device, and allow every contact to dry completely before reconnecting power.
- Reconnect the dock directly to the computer and test the mouse again.
Do not scrape contacts with metal tools, flood them with cleaner, or continue charging while they are wet. If a pogo pin is stuck down, bent, or missing, cleaning is unlikely to restore a reliable connection and the dock or mouse interface should be evaluated by support.
If the mouse charges through its cable but still does not charge on the dock after these checks, continue using the cable as a comparison and arrange support if the dock path remains unreliable. Do not treat a replacement dock as a guaranteed battery repair.
Eliminate USB-port, computer, and software variables
A direct comparison is more useful than changing several things at once. Keep the mouse and, when possible, the same cable while changing one test condition at a time.
| Test | How to perform it | What it helps isolate |
|---|---|---|
| Direct port versus hub | Move the cable or dock from a hub to a computer USB port | Power or connection problems introduced by the hub |
| One USB port versus another | Repeat the charge on a second port on the same computer | A faulty, loose, or insufficiently powered port |
| One computer versus another | Test the same mouse and compatible cable on a second system | Computer-specific USB or software behavior |
| Synapse system versus a test system without Synapse | Where practical, test on a computer that does not run Synapse | Whether the symptom changes with the software environment |
Razer support suggests trying another computer, including a system without Synapse where applicable, to help isolate software effects. This comparison does not prove that Synapse is the cause; it only shows whether the behavior changes when that variable is removed. If the same mouse, cable, and port behavior occurs on two computers, computer-specific settings become less likely.

Check firmware for the exact mouse model
Firmware can affect device behavior, so check Razer Support for an update that explicitly applies to your exact model. Do not use firmware intended for a different mouse, even if the product names look similar.
- Open Razer Support and search for the complete model name and, if shown, its revision or edition.
- Review the downloads or firmware section for that model.
- If an applicable firmware updater is listed, follow Razer’s supplied instructions and keep the mouse connected as directed.
- After the update, turn the mouse off and repeat the direct-port charging test for at least 30 minutes.
Firmware is a troubleshooting check, not evidence that an update will repair a physically worn battery, damaged port, failed dock, or bad cable. If no firmware update is listed for your model, proceed with the hardware comparisons instead of installing an unrelated package. Do not interrupt an updater by unplugging the mouse unless Razer’s instructions specifically tell you to do so.
Use the results to choose the next step
The mouse charges with a different cable or port
Keep using the known-good compatible cable or USB port while you arrange a replacement for the failed item. Avoid claiming the battery is defective when changing the external charging connection restores normal charging.

The mouse charges by cable but not on the dock
Recheck dock power, direct USB connection, contact cleanliness, and alignment. If cable charging remains normal and dock charging does not, the dock/contact path is suspect. The test cannot distinguish a failed dock from damaged contacts or a problem in the mouse’s dock interface, so support or a model-compatible replacement is the appropriate next decision.

Repeat the powered-off, direct-port charge for at least 30 minutes with a known-compatible cable and another port or computer. Then check model-specific firmware. A persistent 0% reading after those checks should be treated as an unresolved hardware or battery issue, not as proof that cleaning or software will fix it.
The mouse works only while wired and dies quickly unplugged
That pattern is consistent with a battery-capacity or charging-path problem, but it does not identify the failed component. Complete the cable, port, dock, and computer comparisons before requesting service.
The mouse charges intermittently
Intermittent charging commonly makes the contact path worth checking first: reseat the cable, try another direct port, inspect the port for looseness, and clean dock contacts if a dock is involved. Do not repeatedly wiggle a connector to maintain power, because that can worsen mechanical damage. Record whether the interruption occurs only at a particular angle or only on the dock.
When to contact Razer Support
Contact Razer Support when the mouse still will not gain charge, remains at 0%, or rapidly loses power after the direct-port, alternate-cable, dock-contact, computer, and applicable firmware checks. Include the exact model and serial number. Support may use those details to review the case and explain available service or warranty options.

A charging dock is not universal. Razer lists the Mouse Dock Pro for these models:
- Basilisk V3 Pro 35K
- Basilisk V3 Pro
- Cobra Pro
- Cobra HyperSpeed
- Naga V3 Pro
- Naga V2 Pro
Verify the current compatibility page and your exact mouse model before purchasing a Mouse Dock Pro or a compatible wireless charging puck. Compatibility with one model does not establish compatibility with another Razer mouse. A similarly named product, regional bundle, or later revision may have different requirements.
Consider an accessory only when testing points to the dock or puck as the problem, or when you need a supported charging method. A dock is an optional charging convenience; it cannot restore a battery that no longer holds a charge, and it is not a universal fix for a failed cable, charging port, or battery. If cable charging is also failing, buying a dock first can add cost without addressing the underlying fault.
A concise repair checklist
- Record the exact mouse model, charging method, indicator behavior, and whether it works while plugged in.
- Turn the mouse off and charge it directly from a computer USB port for at least 30 minutes.
- Try another compatible cable and another direct USB port.
- Test on another computer; use a system without Synapse where practical.
- If using a dock, check its USB and power connections, then clean the pogo pins and mouse contacts safely.
- Check Razer Support for firmware intended for the exact model.
- Do not force connectors, spray liquid, scrape contacts, or open a swollen or hot battery.
- If the mouse still will not charge or hold a charge, contact Razer Support with the model and serial number instead of assuming a user-replaceable battery or buying an unverified dock.

What information should I provide to Razer Support?
Provide the exact model and serial number plus your test results: cable and ports tried, dock or cable behavior, the powered-off 30-minute charge, another-computer comparison, and any visible damage.
The Bottom Line
Use a model-specific, direct-USB test first: turn the mouse off and charge it for at least 30 minutes, then compare a known-compatible cable, another port, another computer, and—if applicable—the dock contacts. Check exact-model firmware, but do not treat software or cleaning as guaranteed battery repairs. If the mouse still shows 0%, will not charge, or dies quickly unplugged, give Razer Support the model and serial number and ask about the correct service or warranty route.
