How to Fix a GoPro LIT HERO That Won’t Connect to the GoPro Quik App

If your GoPro LIT HERO won’t connect to the GoPro app, now called GoPro Quik, start pairing from the camera’s Pair Device screen. If Quik still cannot find or connect to it, clear saved pairings and pair again. Then check whether your phone supports the camera’s default 5 GHz Wi-Fi band and whether the camera firmware is current.

Work through those checks in order rather than changing several settings at once. That makes it easier to tell whether the issue was the pairing flow, an old saved connection, Wi-Fi compatibility, or software. GoPro’s detailed connection-reset procedure is for Android; the same complete sequence is not established for iOS.

Pair the LIT HERO through its camera menu

  1. On the camera, swipe down to open the Dashboard.
  2. Swipe left and tap Pair Device.
  3. On your phone, turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, open GoPro Quik, and follow the app’s on-screen pairing prompts.

Use this flow rather than trying to connect only through the phone’s Bluetooth or Wi-Fi menus. The camera’s Pair Device screen initiates the model-specific app pairing process; the phone’s wireless settings alone are not a replacement for following Quik’s prompts.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Keep the camera in the pairing flow while you work through the instructions in the app. Confirm that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled on the phone, then allow Quik to proceed through its prompts. If the app does not find the camera or the connection does not complete, do not assume immediately that the camera is damaged. Continue with the saved-connection reset and compatibility checks below.

According to the GoPro LIT HERO manual, after the initial pairing, the camera and app should sync when both are on and their wireless connections are enabled. That means a successful first pairing is not the end of the wireless requirements: when you want them to sync, the camera and phone must both be on, and wireless connections must be enabled.

If pairing fails, clear saved connections and retry

Old connection records can interfere with starting a fresh pairing. GoPro’s detailed connection-reset instructions are for Android. They recommend resetting camera connections, removing old camera records from both the phone and Quik, restarting the devices, and then pairing again. Follow the sequence rather than deleting only one record and assuming all saved pairings have been cleared:

  1. Reset connections on the LIT HERO. Use the camera’s reset-connections function. This clears saved device connections and resets the camera password, so devices that were connected previously will need to be connected again afterward.
  2. Remove saved GoPro camera entries in Android Bluetooth settings. Look for GoPro camera records in the phone’s Bluetooth settings and remove them. The purpose is to clear the phone’s old record so the retry starts as a new pairing rather than relying on a stale connection.
  3. Remove saved GoPro camera networks or entries in Android Wi-Fi settings. Check the phone’s Wi-Fi settings for GoPro camera records and remove them. Clearing Bluetooth records alone does not complete GoPro’s documented cleanup sequence.
  4. Remove the camera from Quik. In the app’s connected-camera list, remove the LIT HERO entry. The phone’s wireless settings and Quik each have saved connection information, so the procedure addresses both.
  5. Restart the phone and camera. Restart both devices after clearing the records.
  6. Start a new pairing. On the camera, open Dashboard > swipe left > Pair Device. Then open Quik and follow its prompts.

Resetting camera connections has a consequence: saved device connections are cleared and the camera password is reset. If you have other devices connected to the camera, expect to reconnect them as needed. The reset is not merely a phone-side cleanup, so do not begin it expecting the camera to retain all its old pairings.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

After the reset, complete the new pairing through the camera’s Pair Device screen and Quik. Do not stop after removing the camera from the phone’s Bluetooth list; GoPro’s Android procedure also calls for removing the Wi-Fi entry and the camera from Quik, then restarting both devices. If the same failure returns after carrying out the full sequence, move on to the band and firmware checks rather than repeating only one deletion step.

GoPro’s published procedure is Android-specific. It does not establish an equivalent full reset sequence for iOS, so do not assume that every Android menu step maps directly to an iPhone. If you use iOS and the standard Pair Device flow fails, check the camera’s Wi-Fi band and firmware as described below. If it remains unresolved, contact GoPro support rather than applying an unverified Android reset sequence to iOS.

Check whether the Wi-Fi band is compatible

The LIT HERO uses 5 GHz Wi-Fi by default. If your phone or local region does not support 5 GHz, change the camera to 2.4 GHz. This is a compatibility adjustment, not a required change for every user. If 5 GHz is supported by both your phone and the region where you are using it, the documented guidance does not call for changing away from the default.

  1. On the camera, open the Dashboard.
  2. Go to Connections > Wi-Fi Band.
  3. Select 2.4 GHz if 5 GHz is unsupported by your phone or unavailable in your region.
  4. Return to the camera’s Pair Device screen and try pairing through Quik again.

Use the band setting to address a specific compatibility question: does the phone or region support the camera’s default 5 GHz band? If yes, leave the default in place. If no, choose 2.4 GHz and retry the normal pairing flow. The two bands are not presented as a universal better-versus-worse choice, and the manual does not say every LIT HERO owner should switch.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Changing bands will not address unrelated pairing causes, such as stale records that have not been cleared or an incomplete pairing attempt. That is why the useful order is to start with Pair Device, clear old connections if pairing fails, and then make the band adjustment only when 5 GHz compatibility is in doubt. If 2.4 GHz is already selected or a compatible 5 GHz connection still fails, continue to the firmware check.

Check the camera firmware and choose an update route

GoPro’s LIT HERO firmware page lists v2.10.00, dated April 14, 2026, as the latest release shown. Firmware listings can change, so check GoPro’s LIT HERO firmware page for the current version rather than treating that listed release as permanently current. The GoPro LIT HERO manual says the camera must be updated before use and documents two update routes: through Quik or manually through GoPro’s update instructions.

Quick connectivity through USB-C and Wi-Fi allows instant media transfers using the GoPro Quik app, simplifying editing and sharing on the go. Rugged, bright, and smartly designed—it’s a travel essential for creators who never stop moving.
  • If Quik can connect: use the app update route GoPro provides.
  • If pairing blocks the app route: use GoPro’s documented manual update route instead. The manual route is an alternative way to update the camera when app access is blocked; it is not a guaranteed fix for a wireless connection fault.

Choosing a route depends on whether the app can reach the camera. If Quik connects, the app route is available to you. If the connection failure prevents that route, GoPro documents a manual alternative. Do not assume a manual update will necessarily make pairing work: it addresses the camera’s software version, but the official instructions do not promise that updating fixes every connection issue.

Follow GoPro’s update instructions for the route you choose, and take the SD-card warning seriously. During a firmware update, do not remove the SD card. The manual warns that removing it during the update may permanently damage the camera. This is a specific update precaution, not a reason to remove the card as a troubleshooting step for app pairing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If you cannot update through Quik because the LIT HERO will not pair, the manual route lets you consider the firmware check without relying on the blocked app connection. If you are unsure whether an update completed, consult GoPro’s update instructions and support rather than interrupting an update or improvising a recovery procedure. The documented update routes are through Quik or GoPro’s manual instructions; they do not establish that an accessory purchase or a change to unrelated camera components will resolve pairing.

When to contact GoPro support

If the reset-and-repair sequence, compatible Wi-Fi band, and available firmware update do not resolve the connection, GoPro recommends contacting support. This is especially appropriate if you have completed the documented steps but Quik still cannot connect, or if you are using iOS and need help beyond the Android-specific reset procedure.

Have these details ready so support can distinguish a camera-side issue from a phone or app compatibility problem:

  • The steps you have already tried, including whether you reset connections and removed old pairings from the phone and Quik.
  • Camera model and firmware version.
  • Phone model and mobile operating system version.
  • Mobile carrier.
  • GoPro Quik version.

Be specific about the sequence and the result. For example, note whether the camera appeared in Quik after you tapped Pair Device, whether you changed the Wi-Fi band, and whether you could use the app or manual firmware update route. Reporting the phone model, operating system, carrier, and Quik version gives support the device and software context GoPro requests; it is more useful than simply saying that the camera will not connect.

What not to assume

A Quik pairing failure by itself does not establish that the camera has hardware damage. GoPro’s documented connection steps focus on wireless pairing, saved connections, Wi-Fi compatibility, and software. They do not identify an SD card, battery, cable, or repair tool as the cause of an app connection failure, and the documented fixes do not call for buying an accessory or replacement part.

Keep the troubleshooting focused on the symptom. Do not buy a replacement battery, cable, SD card, reader, or repair tool as a response to this pairing problem without a separate diagnosis. The documented options are free pairing, settings, restart, and firmware steps. If those steps do not resolve it, contact GoPro support with the details above rather than treating the connection failure as proof that a component needs replacement.

Should I pair the LIT HERO from my phone’s Bluetooth settings?

Use the camera’s Pair Device flow and follow Quik’s prompts rather than trying to connect only through the phone’s Bluetooth or Wi-Fi menus. The phone settings are relevant when clearing old Android records, but they do not replace the initial app pairing flow.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What should I do if Quik still will not connect on Android?

GoPro’s Android procedure is to reset camera connections; remove saved GoPro camera entries from the phone’s Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings; remove the camera in Quik; restart the phone and camera; then pair again from the camera’s Pair Device screen. Resetting camera connections clears saved device connections and resets the camera password.

Is the same reset procedure documented for iPhone?

The detailed GoPro connection-reset procedure is Android-specific; it does not establish a full equivalent iOS sequence. On iOS, try the standard Pair Device flow and check Wi-Fi band compatibility and firmware. Contact GoPro support if those checks do not resolve it.

Should I change the LIT HERO from 5 GHz to 2.4 GHz?

Only if your phone or local region does not support 5 GHz. The LIT HERO defaults to 5 GHz, and GoPro documents 2.4 GHz as a compatibility adjustment. If 5 GHz is supported, you can leave the default setting in place.

Where is the LIT HERO Wi-Fi band setting?

On the camera, open Dashboard > Connections > Wi-Fi Band. Select 2.4 GHz if 5 GHz is unsupported by your phone or unavailable in your region, then retry pairing through Quik.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I update the LIT HERO if it will not pair with Quik?

GoPro documents updates through Quik and a manual update route. If the pairing problem blocks the app route, consult GoPro’s manual update instructions as an alternative. A manual update is not a guaranteed fix for the connection fault.

What firmware version is listed for the LIT HERO?

GoPro’s firmware page lists LIT HERO firmware v2.10.00 dated April 14, 2026. Check the official LIT HERO firmware page for the current listing, since firmware information may change.

Can I remove the SD card during a firmware update?

No. The LIT HERO manual warns that removing the SD card during a firmware update may permanently damage the camera.

Do I need to buy a cable, battery, or other accessory to fix this?

GoPro’s documented pairing fixes do not call for buying an accessory or replacement part. Start with the Pair Device flow, connection cleanup where applicable, Wi-Fi band compatibility, and firmware; seek support if those steps fail.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Bottom Line

Pair from Dashboard > swipe left > Pair Device, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled on the phone and Quik open. If it fails, Android users can clear camera and app pairings, restart both devices, and try again. Check whether 5 GHz is supported before switching to 2.4 GHz, and use GoPro’s documented update route if firmware needs attention. Do not remove the SD card during an update. If the problem persists, contact GoPro support with the camera, phone, operating system, carrier, firmware, and Quik version details.
