First identify which problem you have: a Wi-Fi connection failure, Alexa not detecting your voice, or an Alexa reply routed to a TV or soundbar you cannot hear. Troubleshoot those paths separately, starting with reversible checks and restarts; leave a factory reset until last because it deletes account information and downloaded content.
Check whether the problem is Wi-Fi or Alexa
If the Cube will not connect to Wi-Fi
Open Settings > Network and run Network Diagnostics if available. Amazon’s Network Status tool can help distinguish a failed connection between the Fire TV and router from a problem between the router and the internet, and may show recommendations. If other devices in your home also have no internet, check for a broader network or service outage rather than assuming the Cube is at fault.

If Alexa does not seem to respond
Say the wake word and watch the Cube’s light. Whether it lights helps determine whether the problem is voice pickup or where Alexa’s reply is playing. Work through the relevant steps below rather than treating an Alexa symptom as proof of a Wi-Fi fault, or vice versa.
Fix a Fire TV Cube that will not connect to Wi-Fi
For a connection problem after setup, try these steps in order. Amazon’s Wi-Fi troubleshooting guidance recommends checking diagnostics, restarting, refreshing the wireless connection, and then checking the home network.

- Run Network Diagnostics and follow any on-screen recommendations.
- Restart the Cube: unplug it from power, wait 10 seconds, then reconnect it.
- If the network still will not connect or does not appear, open Settings > Network, turn Wi-Fi off, then turn it back on.
- Forget the saved network and join it again, carefully entering the Wi-Fi password.
- If the Cube remains offline, unplug both the modem and router for one minute. Reconnect the modem first and wait about one minute for its internet connection. Then reconnect the router and wait about one minute for it to come online.
- Move the Cube and router closer together if possible. If several devices are offline, investigate a possible internet service or home-network outage.
If the problem occurs during first-time setup
Have your Wi-Fi network name and password ready. If your network is missing from the list, press Back on the Fire TV remote to refresh it. Restart the Fire TV and home networking equipment, and move the Cube closer to the router while setting it up. Amazon also suggests trying Ethernet if possible, but its setup guidance does not establish which Ethernet adapters are compatible with the Fire TV Cube; do not assume an adapter will work without checking compatibility.
Fix Alexa when the Cube does not respond
Start with the Cube’s light, then use the matching steps. Amazon’s Alexa troubleshooting guidance distinguishes between a Cube that does not light and one that lights but gives no audible reply.

The Cube does not light when you speak
- Move the Cube out of an enclosed space and make sure it has power.
- Press the Cube’s Action button, then speak your request.
- Check the top-mounted Mute button. Amazon says it lights red when the microphones are deactivated.
To speak to Alexa, use the wake word or press and hold the remote’s Voice button. The remote’s Voice button does not support voice navigation commands or onscreen selections.

Say, “I can’t hear you.” Amazon says this routes Alexa’s response to the Cube instead of a powered-off TV or soundbar. Raise the Cube’s volume with its + button. You can also check voice history in the Alexa app to see what Alexa heard, then try rephrasing the request if necessary.

Restart the Cube before considering a factory reset
As an alternative to unplugging the device, Amazon’s Fire TV Cube restart and reset instructions say to hold the Action button for 10 seconds to shut it off, then press the button again to restart it.
Use a factory reset only after the connection and Alexa checks have failed. Amazon lists two methods for the Cube:

- Hold Volume Down and Mute until the light flashes blue, which takes about 40 seconds.
- On the device, open Settings > My Fire TV > Reset to Factory Defaults.
A factory reset deletes account information and downloaded content. It is not the first step for a problem that may be fixed by refreshing Wi-Fi, correcting a voice-pickup issue, or routing Alexa’s reply to the right speaker.

If diagnostics point to a weak connection and moving the Cube closer to the router improves it, coverage may be the underlying issue. For larger homes, Amazon suggests mesh routers as a whole-home coverage option. A mesh system is not a guaranteed fix for every Fire TV Cube connection problem; first rule out a wider internet outage and try the basic steps above.
