Digital frames do not all support the same bands or security modes.
Identify where the connection fails
Note the exact symptom before troubleshooting. A frame that has never connected may need a compatible network or first-time app pairing; one that stopped working may have stale saved credentials, a changed router configuration, or a signal problem.

- Network does not appear: Check the frame’s supported Wi-Fi bands and whether the network is visible.
- Network appears, but the frame will not join: Re-enter the password and check for network security or authentication restrictions.
- Frame joins Wi-Fi but has no internet: Check router access and any restrictions on the network.
- Phone app cannot find the frame: Resolve app pairing first; this may be separate from entering Wi-Fi credentials.
- A previously working frame disconnected: Restart the frame and router, then check whether the router name, password, or settings have changed.

Try reversible checks first
- Check power and placement. Confirm the frame is on and, for testing, place it near the router with as few obstructions as possible.
- Restart both devices. Power-cycle the frame and router. Wait until the router is fully back online before trying again.
- Select the intended network. Make sure the SSID—the Wi-Fi network name—belongs to the home network you mean to use.
- Re-enter the password carefully. Check capitalization and other characters. If unsure, verify the password by reconnecting another device.
- Reset the frame’s Wi-Fi settings if needed. Use the reset option in the frame’s own menu, if available, and follow the maker’s instructions for the model.
Aura’s setup and reconnection advice is model-specific; consult its official support guidance rather than assuming every frame has the same menu names.

If the frame cannot see your network
Check the exact frame model’s Wi-Fi requirements before changing the router. Frameo says most frames running its software support only 2.4 GHz, while Aura says only some Aura models support both 2.4 and 5 GHz. Those statements apply to those products, not every digital frame. See Frameo Support and Aura Support for the maker’s current model guidance.
For a Frameo-based frame, its support guidance identifies several possible network requirements and discovery issues. They are not universal requirements for other brands:

- The router must broadcast a band the frame supports; many Frameo frames require 2.4 GHz.
- The network should be visible rather than hidden.
- Frameo lists IPv4 and says WPA3 or Enterprise encryption may be incompatible.
- In some countries, the selected 2.4 GHz channel can affect whether a frame discovers the network.
Check the specific frame and router documentation before altering security, IP, or channel settings. Frameo’s notes are available at Frameo Support.

If the frame sees the network but will not join
Re-enter the password, then use the frame’s Wi-Fi reset option to remove stale saved details if it has one. Retry with the correct credentials for the selected network.

Business, school, hotel, and public Wi-Fi can require a browser sign-in, enterprise authentication, or administrator approval. A frame may not be able to complete those steps. Try an ordinary residential network, or ask the network administrator whether the frame is permitted and what setup is required. Aura’s connection guidance is at Aura Support.
For app setup, check phone pairing separately
If the app cannot discover the frame, check that the frame is powered on and displaying its pairing code, and that Bluetooth is enabled on the phone. Aura says its Android setup requires Location Services and iOS setup requires Bluetooth privacy permission. These steps concern Aura app pairing; they do not establish the Wi-Fi requirements of other brands. See Aura’s setup guidance.

Use another Wi-Fi network to locate the fault
After checking the frame’s settings, test it on a phone hotspot or another known-good Wi-Fi network, if the frame supports that network’s band and security. This comparison helps separate a home-router problem from a frame-side problem.
- It connects to the hotspot: Investigate the home router’s band, security, visibility, signal, or network restrictions.
- It fails on the hotspot too: Confirm the hotspot meets the frame’s requirements, reset the frame’s Wi-Fi settings, and try another suitable network if available. If it still fails, contact the frame maker about model-specific troubleshooting or hardware evaluation.

Address weak signal only when placement points to it
If the frame connects near the router but fails in its usual location, test another position and reduce obstructions. Aura notes that weak Wi-Fi can impair operation, and Frameo advises checking placement and mesh-node selection. Some routers merge their 2.4 and 5 GHz bands or steer devices between mesh nodes; Frameo says these features can occasionally cause trouble. Consult the router maker’s instructions before changing band steering or mesh settings.
A booster or router change may help when the evidence points to poor coverage, but it will not fix an incorrect password, unsupported band, incompatible security mode, or failed Bluetooth pairing. Try moving the frame first; consider coverage equipment only if the placement test indicates a signal problem. Aura’s guidance is available at Aura Support, and Frameo’s at Frameo Support.
When to contact support
Contact the frame maker if the frame still cannot connect after a Wi-Fi reset and tests on more than one suitable network, or if its menu, requirements, or error message do not match the available instructions. Provide the exact model, error text, router security and band settings, and the result of the hotspot test. If the hotspot works but home Wi-Fi does not, the router provider or network administrator may be better placed to help with local settings.
