A cracked monitor screen is physical damage to the display panel; cleaning, software settings, glue, or a protective film will not repair it. Check the warranty, then ask the manufacturer or an authorized service center whether the exact panel can be replaced and what the complete cost will be. If repair is unavailable or the estimate does not make sense for your monitor, replacement is the practical alternative.
First, identify the monitor and assess the damage
Before contacting support, record the monitor’s brand, exact model, screen size, and purchase date. These details help determine whether a compatible panel and service are available. If the model label is hard to find, check the rear of the monitor or its original paperwork.

Note what the damage looks like and whether the display still works, but do not treat a working image as evidence that the panel is repairable at home. A visible crack is hardware damage, and the repair question is whether the panel can be replaced—not which display setting to change.

Check warranty coverage and ask for a repair estimate
Warranty treatment depends on the manufacturer, model, and region. Do not assume that another brand’s policy applies to your monitor. Read the warranty for your exact unit and contact the manufacturer or an authorized service provider to confirm coverage and service options.

For example, ASUS classifies cracks or breakage in monitor screen glass as customer-induced damage excluded from warranty service. It says authorized service centers may offer chargeable replacement of damaged parts, with parts and labor charged. This is ASUS’s policy, not a universal rule. ASUS customer-induced damage criteria
Other manufacturers have their own terms: Sharp’s desktop display warranty lists cracked and other user-induced damage among exclusions, while AOC’s US and Canada warranty information says a cracked or broken LED panel is not covered under its stated warranty. Check the policy for your territory and model before deciding what you will pay.

What to include in a quote request
- Give the service provider the exact model, screen size, purchase date, and a description of the crack.
- Ask whether panel replacement is available for that specific unit and whether the exact panel can be sourced.
- Request a written total covering the panel, labor, shipping, and any diagnostic charges.
- Ask about turnaround time and whether the repair itself has a warranty.
How much does monitor screen replacement cost?
There is no universal repair price. Cost and availability depend on the model, region, parts, and service provider. One region-specific example is LG UK’s listed LCD monitor screen replacement price of £229 for monitors from 20 to 31 inches. LG says its listed monitor services apply to units less than six years old from purchase. Decide whether to repair or replace
Compare the full repair estimate with the cost and suitability of replacing the monitor. There is no fixed price threshold at which replacement is always the better choice. Consider the monitor’s age, its condition apart from the crack, the availability of the exact panel, the service turnaround, and the repair warranty alongside the total quoted cost.

Choose replacement if the panel cannot be sourced, service is unavailable, or you would rather put the repair cost toward a monitor that meets your needs. The decision depends on your quote and circumstances, not a general rule that one option is always cheaper.

Should you try to fix the panel yourself?
Do not use glue, generic screen film, cleaning, or software adjustments as a supposed fix for a cracked panel. The available service information supports a hardware repair decision, not a universal do-it-yourself panel replacement procedure.
Opening a monitor can expose you to hazards. A medical LCD monitor manual warns that removing covers may expose users to dangerous voltages or other hazards and directs servicing to qualified personnel. Use an independent repair provider carefully
If manufacturer or authorized service is unavailable, an independent provider may be another route. Before handing over the monitor, ask whether the provider can source the exact panel and get a clear written estimate. Confirm labor, shipping, diagnostic charges, service time, and any warranty on the work. The provider’s ability to source a compatible panel and the terms of its repair matter more than a generic promise to fix a screen.
