Fix 2XKO problems by matching the remedy to the symptom: update the game and check service notices first; compare online with offline play for lag; test wired Ethernet against Wi‑Fi or tethering; verify that your Riot Account region matches the region you intend to play in; and use Riot’s three-check security sequence for Windows VAN 9005 errors. If crashes or disconnects continue after those checks, send Riot Player Support your platform, game version, time of failure, symptoms, and logs.
Riot has acknowledged crashes and sudden disconnects, including a console-specific stability problem discussed in 2026. A July 8, 2026 update (patch 1.2.3b) added console crash fixes, but that historical fix does not prove every current crash on every platform is resolved.

Start with the fastest checks
Before changing settings, determine whether 2XKO itself is unavailable or whether the fault is local to your device or connection. This first pass prevents you from reinstalling the game during maintenance or changing several variables at once.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Install the current game update. Restart the client after updating. A partial or pending update can leave you testing an already-fixed issue. Update the console or Windows installation as well when a platform update is waiting.
- Read the in-client notice and Riot service-status information. Maintenance or a tracked incident can produce login failures, sudden disconnects, and match interruptions that no router change will cure. If Riot is reporting an incident, save your troubleshooting notes and try again after the status changes.
- Write down the exact symptom. “The game closes,” “the match freezes and rolls back,” “inputs feel delayed,” “the lobby will not load,” and “VAN 9005 appears” point to different troubleshooting paths.
- Record your platform and version. Note PC or console, operating-system version where relevant, 2XKO version, approximate time, and what happened immediately before the failure.
- Change one thing at a time. A controlled comparison—offline versus online, or wired versus wireless—produces more useful evidence than changing graphics, router, account, and security settings simultaneously.
Do not assume that a visible pause is automatically an internet problem. Riot explains that inconsistent frame pacing can make video stutter and inputs appear inconsistent, while unstable Wi‑Fi or tethered connections can cause pauses and large rollback effects.

A quick symptom decision tree
Use the failure’s location to choose the next test:
- It closes or returns to the console dashboard: update first, check notices, and collect platform, version, time, and reproduction details. This is a crash report, not automatically a network report.
- The game stays open but the match pauses, rolls back, or catches up: compare online play with offline or local play, then compare Wi‑Fi or tethering with a wired match.
- Only menus or the lobby fail: check service availability and account-region alignment. Use the older restart workaround only for the specific post-disconnect lobby symptom described below.
- The Windows launcher displays VAN 9005: skip general network experiments and follow the TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and Memory Integrity sequence.
- The same hitch occurs in training or local play: treat it as a possible frame-pacing or device-performance problem and describe that distinction to support.
When 2XKO crashes or suddenly disconnects
Update, then check whether Riot is already tracking it
Riot’s January 29, 2026 “2XKO in 2026” update explicitly acknowledged “Game crashes (or sudden disconnects)” among issues players reported. Riot game director Shaun Rivera introduced that list by thanking players for detailed reports and flags. The acknowledgement means the symptom is real and tracked; it does not identify the cause of your individual crash. Install the current patch and check notices before attempting deeper repairs.
Console-specific 2026 context
In a June 18, 2026 developer update, game director Ben “Draggles” Forbes described a systemic console crash cause related to the amount of content being added: “We’ve tracked down the cause, but it’s pretty systemic (related to the amount of content we’ve been adding recently) and not something that can be fixed with an easy one-shot.” On July 8, 2026, patch 1.2.3b stated: “Patch 1.2.3b introduces bugfixes for the console related crash issues.” Treat the July note as a targeted historical fix, not a guarantee that every later console or PC crash is fixed. A console result can therefore be useful context, but it cannot be applied automatically to a Windows crash.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Collect useful crash details
- Platform and model, such as the specific console generation or your PC configuration.
- 2XKO version and whether the failure began immediately after an update.
- Whether the crash happens at launch, in menus, during character select, in training, or during an online match.
- Approximate UTC or local time, match mode, and any error text or code.
- Whether the client closes, freezes, returns to the dashboard, or disconnects you while remaining open.
- Reproduction steps, if you can trigger it reliably.
- Whether another mode works at the same time. For example, note if training loads but online matchmaking crashes.
Submit these details through Riot Player Support when the crash persists. Riot has asked players to submit tickets for tracked crashes, disconnects, and other issues; a precise timeline and logs are more useful than repeatedly reinstalling without documentation. If the problem started after a particular patch, say so explicitly and include the patch number.
Do not overread a successful restart
A restart can clear a one-time client or lobby state, but it does not establish that the underlying crash is fixed. If the failure returns, record the second occurrence rather than repeatedly restarting and losing the pattern. Repeated crashes at the same screen, character select step, or match transition are especially valuable reproduction information.
Fix lag, rollback, and stuttering by separating network from performance problems
Use online versus offline play as a diagnostic test
Play the same type of movement or training sequence offline or in local play, then compare it with an online match. Keep the test short and repeatable: use the same device, display, controller, and game mode where possible.
| What you observe | Most useful next test | What the result can and cannot show |
|---|---|---|
| Stutter or inconsistent inputs only online | Play one match on wired Ethernet instead of Wi‑Fi or phone tethering. | A change points to the local connection path, but does not by itself identify your ISP, routing, or Riot’s servers. |
| Stutter also occurs offline or in training | Describe it as a possible rendering, frame-pacing, or hardware-performance issue and contact official support if it continues. | Offline symptoms make a network-only explanation less likely; they do not prove a specific driver or graphics setting is responsible. |
| Rollback, pauses, or delayed state updates during online play | Compare wired and wireless play, then verify your Riot Account region. | These tests narrow possibilities; they are not guaranteed cures. |
Test Wi‑Fi or tethering against a wired connection
Riot’s online-play explanation identifies Wi‑Fi and tethered connections as examples associated with pauses, stuttering, and large rollback effects. If practical, connect your gaming device directly to the router for one controlled match. A Cat 6 Ethernet cable is one optional way to perform that comparison; it is a test of the connection path, not a promised fix or a Riot-endorsed purchase. No cable category is required by Riot.

If wired play is better, keep the result as evidence for support or work through your home network: move closer to the access point, stop large downloads and streams during testing, and avoid phone tethering for competitive matches. These steps can reduce local contention, but they cannot correct a service-side incident. If wired and wireless behave identically while the service is healthy, do not conclude that the ISP or Riot servers are at fault without further evidence.
If you cannot run Ethernet, say that in the ticket and report whether the problem changes at a different time or on another permitted connection. That is still a comparison, not proof of a particular cause.
Check computer capability before chasing network settings
Riot notes that a computer below the game’s minimum specification can contribute to stutters and rollback-like symptoms. Confirm that your system meets the current published minimum requirements for 2XKO and provide your hardware details in a support ticket. A PC that is overloaded or unable to render consistently can feel like delayed input even when the connection is stable.
The official material does not establish one universal graphics preset, a single driver version, or a guaranteed Windows setting that fixes every stutter. Avoid treating an invented setting recipe as authoritative. Instead, identify whether the symptom is a steady low frame rate, brief hitching, visual judder, or a network-style pause.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsUnderstand frame pacing
Frame pacing is the consistency with which frames are simulated, rendered, and displayed. Even when a network connection is stable, uneven frame delivery can look like hitching and make controls feel inconsistent. Compare offline and online behavior, capture a short video if possible, and report whether the issue is a steady low frame rate, brief hitching, or an input-response problem. A video showing the same sequence in training and online play can help support distinguish visible rendering stutter from rollback.
Verify your Riot Account region
Riot’s January 20, 2026 patch notes warn that a Riot Account region different from the player’s intended region can cause poor connection in games. Check the region associated with the account you actually use, not merely the country where your console or PC is located. A device’s physical location and an account’s assigned region are separate facts.
- Sign out of any extra Riot accounts on the device.
- Confirm that the account used to launch 2XKO is assigned to your intended play region.
- Compare results after correcting an obvious mismatch; do not change regions repeatedly as a blind experiment.
- If the account is locked to the wrong region or you cannot determine the assignment, contact Riot Player Support with the account and intended region details.
Region alignment is an early, free check. It does not prove that a correctly assigned account will have perfect latency, because routing, local congestion, and service incidents can still affect a match. Likewise, a region match does not rule out Wi‑Fi instability or frame-pacing problems.

Login, lobby, and connection failures
Use the current-status path first
For a login that will not complete or a lobby that fails to load, install updates, read the client notice, and check Riot’s current service information. Then verify account-region alignment. These checks distinguish a broad availability issue from an account or local connection problem. Note whether the failure happens before authentication, after selecting a mode, or immediately after a disconnect.
An older lobby workaround for one specific symptom
Riot’s September 15, 2025 known-errors page, published in Portuguese, described a lobby problem after disconnecting through the in-game settings and advised restarting the game. Use that restart only when the symptom matches; it is an older workaround, not a universal cure for connection trouble. Because operational support pages can change, use the current Player Support site if the restart no longer works.
Black-screen login lockup
The same older page described a particular black-screen login lockup and suggested a clean uninstall and reinstall. Because the guidance is dated and symptom-specific, do not make a clean reinstall your first response to every crash. Preserve logs and error details before removing the client, and use current Player Support guidance if the lockup remains. A reinstall also cannot fix a live service incident or an incorrect account region.
How to fix VAN 9005 on Windows
Follow this section only if the launcher displays VAN 9005. Riot’s current Player Support guidance, updated January 15, 2026, uses three Windows security checks in this order: TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and Memory Integrity.
1. Check TPM 2.0
Open Windows’ TPM management tool (search for tpm.msc) and confirm that a TPM is present and ready, with specification version 2.0. If TPM is disabled, enable firmware TPM in your UEFI/BIOS using the names provided by your motherboard or system manufacturer. Save the change and restart before testing 2XKO. Firmware labels vary, so do not change unrelated settings while looking for the TPM option.

2. Check Secure Boot
Open System Information (search for msinfo32) and inspect the Secure Boot State field. If it is off, enter UEFI firmware settings through Windows’ recovery or advanced-startup controls and enable Secure Boot. Firmware menus differ by manufacturer; do not change unrelated boot settings, and restart after saving. If you are unsure how your system boots, use the manufacturer’s documentation or ask Player Support rather than guessing.
3. Check Memory Integrity
In Windows Security, open Device security, then Core isolation details, and check Memory integrity. Enable it if Windows allows, restart, and retry the game. An incompatible driver can prevent the switch; record the driver name rather than disabling security features indiscriminately.

If VAN 9005 remains
After all three checks are configured and you have restarted, retry once. If the error persists, submit a Riot Player Support ticket and attach the requested logs. Older advice about disabling virtualization-based security should not override Riot’s current sequence, which directs players through TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and Memory Integrity. This procedure is for Windows VAN 9005; it is not a general remedy for a console crash, rollback, or login outage.
Choose the right comparison test
| Comparison | Run it when | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Online versus offline/local | You see stutter, inconsistent inputs, or pauses. | Online-only symptoms suggest investigating the connection path; symptoms in both modes suggest examining frame pacing or device performance. |
| Wi‑Fi or tethering versus wired | Matches pause, roll back, or disconnect. | Improvement on wired implicates the local wireless or tethered path, but not necessarily the ISP or game servers. |
| Intended region versus Riot Account region | Latency or poor connection is persistent. | A mismatch is a documented risk; a match does not guarantee ideal routing. |
| Console versus PC | You have access to both and the issue is a crash. | The 2026 documented systemic crash issue and 1.2.3b fix were console-specific; cross-platform results are evidence, not proof of cause. |
Run only comparisons that are safe and practical. You do not need access to another platform to report a problem, and a single successful match does not establish a permanent fix.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the dated fixes do—and do not—establish
The January 2026 acknowledgement, June 2026 console explanation, and July 8, 2026 patch 1.2.3b note are useful status context. They show that Riot has investigated crash and disconnect reports and shipped a console-related hotfix. They do not provide a universal crash rate, a guaranteed repair for every platform, or evidence that a particular home network is responsible for lag. Riot’s later planning updates may describe stability work, but a planned change is not proof that an individual bug has already been fixed.
A practical prevention checklist
- Keep 2XKO and the platform software current.
- Check service notices before repeatedly changing local settings.
- Use online-versus-offline and wireless-versus-wired comparisons to classify symptoms.
- Avoid phone tethering for competitive sessions when a stable wired or normal broadband connection is available.
- Confirm your Riot Account region before diagnosing persistent connection quality.
- For VAN 9005, check TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, then Memory Integrity, restarting after changes.
- Keep timestamps and error details for any recurring crash or disconnect.
- Change one troubleshooting variable at a time and keep a short record of the result.
These steps separate known availability events, console-specific history, account configuration, local connectivity, frame pacing, and Windows security requirements without claiming that one fix applies to every 2XKO failure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does 2XKO keep crashing?
Riot has acknowledged crashes and sudden disconnects. Update the game, check current service notices, and record your platform, version, time, location in the game, and error text. A console crash issue discussed in June 2026 received targeted fixes in patch 1.2.3b on July 8, 2026, but that does not establish that every current crash is fixed. Persistent crashes should go to Riot Player Support with logs.

Why is 2XKO lagging or rolling back?
First compare the same activity online and offline. If the problem is online-only, test one match on wired Ethernet instead of Wi‑Fi or phone tethering and verify your Riot Account region. Riot identifies Wi‑Fi, tethering, and below-minimum PC specifications as possible contributors. If stutter also occurs offline, frame pacing or device performance may be involved.
Can a Cat 6 Ethernet cable fix 2XKO lag?
It can provide an optional wired-versus-wireless comparison. Improvement on wired play is evidence that the local wireless or tethered path matters, but it does not prove the ISP or Riot servers are responsible and is not a guaranteed cure. Riot does not require a particular cable category.
How do I check whether my Riot Account region is causing connection problems?
Confirm the region assigned to the Riot Account that launches 2XKO and compare it with your intended play region. Riot’s January 20, 2026 patch notes warn that a mismatch can cause poor connection. If the account is assigned incorrectly or you cannot verify it, contact Player Support rather than changing regions repeatedly.
What should I do if 2XKO will not load the lobby?
Check updates and service notices first, then verify account-region alignment. Riot’s September 15, 2025 known-errors page described a specific lobby problem after disconnecting through in-game settings and advised restarting the game. That dated workaround applies only when the symptom matches; it is not a universal connection fix.
Should I reinstall 2XKO after a black screen?
A dated Riot known-errors page suggested a clean uninstall and reinstall for a particular black-screen login lockup. Do not make reinstalling the first response to every crash or login issue. Preserve logs and error details, check current service information, and use Player Support if the specific lockup remains.
How do I fix VAN 9005 in 2XKO?
On Windows, follow Riot’s current order: check TPM 2.0, then Secure Boot, then Memory Integrity, restarting after changes. If all three are configured and VAN 9005 remains, submit a Player Support ticket with the requested logs. Do not substitute older advice about disabling security features for the current sequence.
When should I contact Riot Player Support?
Contact support when crashes continue after updating, disconnects repeat, login fails while service is available, or VAN 9005 remains after the three security checks. Include your Riot ID, platform, version, hardware, timestamps, exact symptom, region, comparison-test results, screenshots or recordings, and relevant logs.
The Bottom Line
Update 2XKO, check Riot’s service notices, and identify the symptom before changing settings. Use online-versus-offline and Wi‑Fi-versus-wired comparisons for lag, verify your Riot Account region, and reserve the TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and Memory Integrity sequence for Windows VAN 9005. If crashes, disconnects, or login failures persist, send Riot Player Support a dated, specific report with logs.
