macOS 27 can show your Mac’s model name and serial number, but Apple’s documented screens and serial-number lookup do not establish when an individual Mac was manufactured. You can use those details to identify the model and its introduction year; that year is not the production date of your specific computer.
Find your Mac’s model name and serial number

Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. Record the model name and serial number shown. On some macOS versions, the same details appear in System Settings > General > About. Apple’s Mac model and serial number instructions and its About settings guide cover these screens.

For additional identifying details, hold the Option key while choosing Apple menu > System Information. Select Hardware in the sidebar and note the serial number, model identifier, and model number or part number shown. Apple documents this route in its model and serial number guide.

Look up the model’s introduction year
Enter the serial number at Apple’s coverage lookup to identify the model. Apple documents the lookup as a way to find a model from its serial number; do not treat it as a manufacture-date lookup unless the result explicitly provides that field.

Then search Apple’s Identify your MacBook Air model page for the model identifier or part number to find the model details and its “year introduced.” The introduction year tells you when that model was launched, not when your individual Mac came off the production line or was sold.
Do not confuse macOS version or build with the Mac’s age
About This Mac also reports the installed macOS version. Apple says the version number can be clicked to display the build number. Those values identify the operating-system software, not the computer’s manufacturing history. See Apple’s instructions for checking which macOS your Mac is using.

If your Mac will not start or its serial number differs
Retrieve the serial number in macOS Recovery
If the Mac cannot start normally, Apple says you may be able to start it in macOS Recovery, open Terminal from Utilities, and run:

Apple’s serial-number instructions also note that the serial may be printed on the Mac, usually on the underside near regulatory markings, or on the original packaging.

Account for a logic-board replacement
Apple warns that replacing a logic board can leave the printed serial number inactive. If the serial printed on the case does not match the active electronic serial, check the serial in macOS, at account.apple.com, or in repair documentation.
