Open your Facebook profile and select Friends to view the friends section. If you want to change who can see the full list on your profile, use Facebook’s audience setting; hiding it there does not hide every friendship across Facebook.
Where to find your Friends list
On Facebook, open your profile and look for the Friends section. The section shows the friends associated with your profile. The exact placement or label can vary with the app version and device.

On the Facebook app, start at your profile and look for Friends. If you are trying to change the list’s visibility and cannot find the setting, use Facebook Settings search or look under Audience and visibility. App labels and steps can differ, so this is general guidance rather than a verified tap-by-tap route.

Change who can see your Friends section on a computer
- Click your profile picture in the top-right corner of Facebook.
- Select Settings & privacy, then Settings.
- Under Audience and visibility, open How people find and contact you.
- Select Who can see your friends list?
- Choose the audience you want, such as Friends or Only me.
Facebook’s general settings guidance places privacy controls under Settings & privacy > Settings > Audience and visibility. Some settings can vary by profile type, and under-18 accounts receive more private defaults in some regions. See Facebook’s instructions for adjusting who can see your Friends section.

What hiding your list does—and does not do
Facebook says the Friends section is public by default, meaning everyone can see it. The audience control changes who can see the full list on your own profile. Setting it to Only me hides that full list from other people on your profile; it does not give you control over the visibility settings your friends choose for their profiles.

- People may still see mutual friends on your profile.
- If a friend makes their own friendships visible, your connection may appear on their profile and elsewhere on Facebook, including Feed or Search.
- Choosing a narrower audience limits access to your list on your profile, but is not a guarantee that every friendship will be invisible across Facebook.
