In ARK: Survival Ascended, enable Console Access in Settings → Advanced, open the console, run whoami, and copy the 32-character alphanumeric OSS ID that appears. That value is the account ID support teams commonly request; do not substitute a server, character, or Steam ID.

Find the OSS ID in five steps
The dependable route is the in-game console. The menu names below are the labels described in current PC-oriented guides; console editions can present a different interface.

- Turn on Console Access. Set Console Access to ON, then choose Save. Saving matters: opening the console before the setting is applied may leave the command unavailable.
- Choose a console key if needed. In the Keyboard tab, locate Toggle Console and assign a key you can press easily. Some PC setups use the tilde key (
~) by default. If your layout has no convenient tilde key, use the key shown in your own control settings instead of assuming the default. - Open the console. Press the assigned key. Nitrado’s instructions describe pressing the key twice to fully open the console interface, while a Survive the Ark support article describes pressing the tilde key. If one press only changes an overlay or appears to do nothing, press the assigned key a second time.
- Run the identity command. Click in the console input, type
whoamiusing that exact spelling, and press Enter. Read the output and copy the OSS ID it prints.
The Nitrado console instructions and the Survive the Ark support guidance agree on the essential operation: Console Access must be enabled, and whoami displays the identifier. Their descriptions differ on whether opening requires one press or a double press, so use the behavior of your platform and keybind as the deciding factor.
Recognize the correct value in the output
The command can show more than one identity label. The output identifies an Online SubSystem ID (usually shown as OSS Id) and an ARK ID. The Survive the Ark support article defines the OSS Id as your Account ID. For a support request, copy the value attached to OSS Id or Online SubSystem ID, not an unrelated number displayed elsewhere.

The OSS ID is a 32-character string made from letters and numbers. Copy every character in order, preserving capitalization if the console displays mixed case. Do not add quotation marks, spaces, a label such as “OSS Id,” or punctuation at the end.
OSS ID, ARK ID and Steam ID are not interchangeable

If the output contains both an OSS Id and an ARK ID, take a moment to match the label before copying. Sending the wrong field can lead support to ask for the information again even when the command worked correctly.

Copy and submit the ID safely
After whoami runs, select the OSS value in the console if your interface permits text selection, or write it down carefully and compare it character by character with the on-screen value. The Survive the Ark support guidance says the ID can be typed into a ticket or pasted from the clipboard.
- Open the support ticket or form that requested the identifier.
- Paste the value, or type it without changing its order or adding spaces.
- State that the value came from the ARK: Survival Ascended
whoamicommand. - Include the platform and the point at which you saw the value if the form allows additional context.
Share the identifier only through the support channel or server administrator that requested it. Avoid posting a full account identifier in a public chat or screenshot when a private ticket is available.

What to do when the console will not open
Console Access is missing or will not stay enabled
Return to Settings → Advanced, set Console Access to ON, and select Save before leaving the menu. The command depends on this permission being enabled. If you changed the setting but immediately switched screens without saving, repeat the change and save again.
Menu labels and placement can change between editions or updates. If you are on a console edition and cannot find an Advanced tab or Console Access switch, do not assume that a PC walkthrough applies exactly; the available interface may differ.

Open the Keyboard controls and check the current Toggle Console binding. Press that key rather than relying on a remembered default. If the first press produces only a partial overlay, press it again, as Nitrado’s instructions describe a double press for the fully open console.
Keyboard layouts can assign the tilde symbol to a different physical key. The binding shown in your own settings is the authoritative one for that installation.

The command produces no useful result
Confirm that the input contains only whoami, with no leading slash, quotation marks, or extra words, and press Enter. If the console is visible but not accepting text, click its input area before typing. Reopen the console after verifying that Console Access is still enabled and saved.
You see two identity values
That is expected: the documented output can include both Online SubSystem (OSS) and ARK identifiers. Use the value beside OSS Id or Online SubSystem ID when the request says “OSS ID” or “Account ID.” Retain the ARK ID only when a separate instruction specifically calls for it.
You cannot read or copy the characters
Use the console’s text-selection or clipboard behavior if available. Otherwise, transcribe the string in short groups, then compare the transcription with the screen before submitting it. Pay special attention to characters that look alike, such as uppercase and lowercase letters. A single incorrect character makes the identifier unusable.
PC, Steam, Epic and console considerations
The published walkthroughs located for this procedure are written mainly for PC. A PC player should therefore expect the Advanced settings, keyboard binding and console workflow described above. Console players may see different controls, a different way to open the command interface, or no matching keyboard tab.

Claims that Steam and Epic accounts always expose identical values, or that Epic players need only the ARK ID, are not established by the documented instructions. Do not infer which field to send from platform alone. Run whoami where the game permits it and follow the label in the output or the exact wording of the support request.
The default console key is also not universal. Tilde is cited in one support description, but a custom binding, keyboard layout, edition or update can change how the console is opened. Treat the key shown under Toggle Console as the current setting for your game.

Some ARK community instructions describe additional ways to reach the command:
Dedicated server
The reported sequence is to connect to the server, create a character, open the console, and run whoami. On PC, those instructions commonly describe double-tapping Tab to open the console. This route is not as well established as the general Console Access procedure, and the exact key or permission can depend on the server configuration. If it does not work, use the server’s documented control binding and confirm with the administrator which identity field is required.
Local Host
Another reported route is to start a Local Host map, create a Survivor, open the console, and run whoami or, in some instructions, ListPlayers. Because the available output and command permissions can vary by mode and edition, treat this as an alternative to test rather than a guaranteed replacement for the saved Console Access workflow. When the output includes multiple identifiers, select the OSS-labeled value.

These dedicated-server and Local Host procedures should not be used to guess an ID from a server name, character name or player list. The objective remains the same: obtain the account-level value explicitly labeled OSS Id or Online SubSystem ID.
Common mistakes that return the wrong identifier
- Copying the ARK ID instead of OSS Id: both can appear after one command, but they are separate fields.
- Using a Steam ID from an admin list: server administration documentation may request Steam IDs for a particular list; that is a different purpose from an OSS ID support request.
- Forgetting to save Console Access: changing the switch without selecting Save can leave the console unavailable.
- Typing a different command: the documented command is
whoami; extra punctuation or a slash can change the result. - Assuming the tilde key is mandatory: the key may be rebound or mapped differently on your keyboard.
- Trusting an unlabelled number: only the value associated with OSS Id or Online SubSystem ID answers an OSS-ID request.
- Transcribing a character incorrectly: the identifier is long and alphanumeric, so compare it with the console before sending.
A quick verification checklist
Before submitting the value, confirm each item:
- Console Access is set to ON under Settings → Advanced and was saved.
- You opened the console with the active Toggle Console binding, using a second press if the interface requires it.
- You entered
whoamiand pressed Enter. - You copied the field labeled OSS Id or Online SubSystem ID.
- The copied value contains the complete 32-character alphanumeric string and no extra text.
- You did not substitute the ARK ID or a Steam ID.
Once those checks pass, the value is ready to paste into the support ticket or other private request that asked for your ARK: Survival Ascended account identifier.
