Check whether each result is included with a subscription, free to watch, available to rent, or available to buy. Then open the provider’s own catalog and confirm the title, season or episode, offer type, and current price before you subscribe or pay. Availability changes by market, so a guide is a discovery tool—not a guarantee.
What you need before searching
A reliable lookup starts with two details: the exact series title and the viewer’s country. Without them, a result can point to the wrong show, a spin-off, or a catalog that is unavailable where the viewer lives.

Identify the exact series
Use the title as it appears in the show’s official listings. Include a subtitle, year, season name, remake label, or regional title when one exists. Sci-fi franchises often have similarly named originals, reboots, animated spin-offs, specials, and anthology entries. A search for only a familiar word from the title can combine separate programs and produce misleading availability results.

Set the correct country
Streaming rights are licensed by territory. The same series can be included with a subscription in one country, offered for purchase in another, and absent from a third. JustWatch describes its service as a way to search movies and TV shows across services in one place, with country-specific editions available from its main guide: JustWatch.
Choose the country where the viewer will watch, not the country where the show was produced or where the account was created. If you are traveling, use the market you need to check at that moment and verify the result in the provider’s catalog for that market.
Step-by-step: find the current streaming options
- Write down the exact title. Include a subtitle, remake year, or other identifier if the franchise has similar entries.
- Open a country-specific availability guide. Start with JustWatch and set the country before searching. The site’s United States TV guide, for example, provides filters for services and distinguishes free, rental, and purchase options: Watch TV shows online – JustWatch.
- Search for the series, then open the matching title page. Confirm the poster, release year, season count, and other identifying details. Do not assume the first similarly named result is the correct program.
- Read every offer label. Separate subscription-included viewing from a free option, a one-time rental, and a purchase. A service name by itself does not tell you which of those arrangements applies.
- Check the season or episode scope. A listing may cover one season, selected episodes, or a complete series. If the guide shows seasons separately, open each season you intend to watch.
- Record the provider and offer type. Note whether the result is included, free, rental, or purchase, and whether the guide displays a price or a link to the provider.
- Open the provider’s own catalog. Search the same title there while signed out or in the relevant country storefront when possible. Confirm that the title is playable or purchasable under the stated terms.
- Recheck immediately before paying. Catalogs and prices can change. Treat the guide result as a current lead, not a permanent statement of rights.
How to interpret the ways a series can be available
Availability guides commonly present several ways to watch. The practical difference is whether you already have access through a subscription, can watch without paying, or must make a separate transaction.

| Offer type | What it usually means | Questions to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Included with a subscription | The series is listed inside a paid service’s catalog and may be watchable while the subscription remains active. | Is the entire series included, or only selected seasons? Does the provider require a particular plan or add-on? |
| Free | The guide identifies a no-cost viewing option. The provider may still require an account, advertising, or a specific local service. | Is every episode free? Are ads or registration required? Is the free offer available in your country? |
| Rent | You pay for temporary access to an episode, season, or series under the provider’s rental rules. | What content is included in the rental, and how long does access last after playback begins? |
| Buy | You make a one-time purchase for the listed episode, season, or series. | Does the purchase cover the complete season or only individual episodes? Which account and storefront receive the entitlement? |
The categories above are the distinctions described in the United States TV guide from JustWatch. The exact labels, prices, playback rules, and participating services can differ by country and can change after the guide updates.
Do not confuse a service listing with included access
A result that names a streaming service does not necessarily mean the show is included in that service’s base subscription. It may be a rental or purchase handled through the same app, or it may require an add-on. Open the offer details and then verify the terms in the provider’s own catalog.

Check whether all seasons are present
Long-running sci-fi shows are often split across services or have only their newest season listed. Compare the season selector on the guide with the provider’s title page. If the guide lists a service but the provider exposes only certain seasons, record that limitation instead of describing the series as fully available.
What to do when the title is missing or the result looks wrong
Try title variations without losing precision
Search the official title first. If it produces no match, try a subtitle, alternate punctuation, the release year, or the localized title. Remove only one element at a time so you can tell whether a result is a genuine match. Never merge two similarly named results into one recommendation.
Use a second availability guide
A second guide can reveal a provider that the first guide does not show, but it is a cross-check rather than proof that either database is complete. Compare whether the second guide supports your country, lists the local services you use, separates subscription, free, rental, and purchase offers, and links to the provider.
Reelgood publishes descriptions of the countries and historical periods covered by its availability data. Those pages explain the scope of its own data; they are vendor descriptions, not independent measurements of completeness or accuracy. See its December 2025 streaming data updates and metadata request information when you need to understand that scope.
Confirm directly with the provider
After a second guide produces a lead, search the provider’s catalog using the exact title and country. Check the result while signed out if the service hides regional information behind an account. If the provider’s page says the title is unavailable, expired, or limited to another market, use that direct result rather than an older guide entry.

Allow for timing differences
Guides and provider catalogs can update at different times. A title may disappear from one service, move between offer types, or become available only after a scheduled release. If you need to watch immediately, perform the direct provider check just before starting a subscription, rental, or purchase.

When two guides disagree, compare their practical coverage rather than assuming one is universally better. The following framework focuses on the factors that affect a viewer’s decision.
| Comparison axis | What to inspect | What the available descriptions establish |
|---|---|---|
| Country support | Whether the guide has an edition for the viewer’s country and displays local storefronts. | JustWatch provides country-specific access from its main guide. The exact country list should be checked on the site before relying on a result. |
| Local service coverage | Whether the services operating in the viewer’s market appear in the results. | Coverage is market-specific. No independent source establishes that any guide includes every local service. |
| Offer categories | Whether results distinguish subscription, free, rental, and purchase options. | JustWatch’s US TV guide describes filters and categories for these viewing routes. |
| Provider handoff | Whether a result opens the provider’s catalog or supplies enough detail to find the title there. | A direct provider check is still necessary because guide data can have a defined scope and can change. |
| Historical or data scope | Whether the guide explains the countries, services, or periods represented in its data. | Reelgood publishes country and historical-coverage information for its own data; this is a vendor statement, not an independent accuracy score. |
Do not turn a difference between guides into a claim that one has the complete answer. Use the disagreement as a prompt to check the provider directly.
Country-specific checks that prevent common mistakes
Use the viewer’s billing and playback market
A title page from another country can show a service or offer that the viewer cannot access. Keep the guide, provider storefront, and intended viewing location aligned. If a household includes viewers in different countries, perform a separate lookup for each market rather than sharing one result.
Check local naming
Distributors may use translated or alternate titles. Search the original title and the known local title, then verify the show’s artwork, year, and episode information. A localized title can identify the right program; it does not by itself establish that the same rights holder offers it in that country.

Check currency and tax presentation
If a guide displays a price, treat it as market-specific and verify the final amount in the provider’s checkout or catalog. The available source material does not establish a universal price, tax rule, or recurring subscription amount for any particular series or country.
Before you subscribe, rent, or buy: a verification checklist
- Title: The provider page matches the exact series, not a remake, spin-off, film, or special.
- Country: The provider storefront is the market where the viewer will watch.
- Seasons: The desired season or complete run is actually listed.
- Offer type: The page says included, free, rental, or purchase in terms you understand.
- Price: The current amount and billing frequency are shown by the provider, not inferred from another market.
- Access conditions: Any account, plan, add-on, advertising, or device requirement is visible before payment.
- Playback status: The title can be played or purchased now, rather than merely appearing in a search index.
- Change risk: You are comfortable that subscription access can end if the provider’s rights change.
Useful search wording
When asking a guide or search engine, include the title and country. Two clear templates are:
Where can I watch [series title]?Is [series title] streaming in [country]?
These phrases work as practical starting points. Add the release year or season when the title is ambiguous. For example, a query for a reboot should include its year so the result is not confused with the original series.
Troubleshooting by symptom
The guide returns several shows with the same name
Open each candidate and compare the year, poster, season count, and episode titles. Use the version that matches the show you mean, then repeat the provider check for that entry.
The guide shows a service, but the provider search finds nothing
Confirm the country setting, remove punctuation differences, and search the provider’s catalog for the localized title. If the provider still has no matching page, treat the guide result as stale or outside the provider’s current storefront and do not pay based on it.

The title appears, but only as a rental or purchase
That is a different offer from subscription-included access. Compare the one-time cost and scope shown by the provider with any subscription option, and verify whether the transaction covers an episode, a season, or the complete series.
Only one season is listed
Check the guide’s season selector and the provider’s page separately. If another service carries the missing seasons, record the split explicitly. If no guide or provider lists them, do not claim that the complete series is currently streaming.
Two guides disagree
Compare country, service, season, and offer type first. Then use the provider catalog as the deciding check for immediate availability. Keep the date of your check if the information matters for a planned viewing event, because catalogs can change.

What can be concluded without a series and country
No single service can be named from the question alone. A current answer requires the exact series title and the country where it will be watched. Without those details, the accurate result is a method: search the exact title in a country-specific guide, interpret the offer category, cross-check a second guide when needed, and confirm the provider’s own catalog before paying.
The sources available for this method do not independently measure each guide’s completeness, do not provide a universal price, and do not establish availability for a particular unnamed show. Any article or answer that names a current service without the missing title and market would be making a claim the available evidence cannot support.
Quick Recap
A compact decision path
- Have the exact title and country? If not, obtain them before making an availability claim.
- Found a matching title in a guide? Check the year, seasons, and artwork.
- Is the offer clearly labeled? Separate included, free, rental, and purchase access.
- Does a second guide agree when the result is important or surprising? Compare country and service coverage.
- Does the provider’s own catalog confirm it? Verify the current offer and price there before subscribing or paying.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
