The right VALORANT sensitivity is the one you can control repeatedly, not a number copied from a professional player. Keep your mouse DPI fixed, test one in-game sensitivity at a time in a repeatable practice task, and make small changes only after several sessions. For crosshairs, prioritize clear visibility and a reticle that does not hide the target, then save variants so you can compare them without losing your baseline.
Use eDPI (mouse DPI multiplied by in-game sensitivity) or approximate cm/360 to describe and compare setups. Those measurements make settings easier to discuss, but neither proves that a particular value is right for you.

What “right” means for sensitivity and crosshair settings
VALORANT does not have one universally correct sensitivity or crosshair. Riot’s beginner settings guidance treats controls as personal preferences. Your choice has to fit your mouse space, hand movement, display, posture, and ability to stop on a target and make small corrections.

Sensitivity controls how far your aim moves for a given physical mouse movement. The crosshair controls how clearly you can see your point of aim. A fast sensitivity can still work with a precise crosshair, and a slow sensitivity can still feel uncomfortable if you cannot turn within your available desk space.

Understand eDPI and cm/360 before comparing settings
eDPI: a simple comparison number
eDPI is calculated as:
eDPI = mouse DPI × in-game sensitivity
For example, 800 DPI multiplied by 0.35 sensitivity equals 280 eDPI. That is arithmetic, not a recommendation. eDPI lets you compare two setups that use different mouse-DPI values, because the product describes the overall sensitivity relationship.

cm/360: the physical-space perspective
cm/360 expresses how many centimetres you move the mouse to rotate roughly 360 degrees in the game. A larger value means more physical travel for a full turn; a smaller value means less travel and a faster turn. It is useful when deciding whether a setup fits your mouse pad and normal arm movement.
Neither eDPI nor cm/360 establishes an ideal value. Treat both as descriptive measurements. Your repeatable performance and comfort are the decision criteria.
Prepare a fair sensitivity test
Keep the variables stable
- Choose one mouse DPI. Set it in the mouse software or use the mouse’s stored profile. Do not change DPI between sensitivity trials.
- Record the starting value. Write down the in-game sensitivity, DPI and eDPI so you can return to the same setup.
- Use the same physical conditions. Keep your seating position, grip, mouse pad and aiming arm position as consistent as practical.
- Pick one repeatable task. Use a practice-range activity or a familiar custom-game routine that requires stopping on targets and making small corrections. The purpose is to compare settings under the same task, not to produce an official score.
- Test over more than one session. A setting can feel unusual for a short time simply because your muscle memory is adapting. Judge control and consistency across several sessions.
What to observe
- Can you stop on a target without regularly sliding past it?
- Can you make a small correction without a second, larger correction?
- Can you turn far enough for common angles without repeatedly lifting the mouse or running out of pad?
- Does your aim remain controllable when you are tired or under pressure, rather than only in a calm warm-up?
- Does the same movement produce a similar result from one attempt to the next?
These observations are a practical evaluation method, not a Riot-defined calibration protocol. They are more useful than copying a published player setting because they test the constraints that apply to you.
Step-by-step: calibrate your mouse sensitivity
1. Start from a known baseline
Use the sensitivity you currently understand, even if it is not perfect. If you have no baseline, choose a moderate value that lets you make both a comfortable turn and a controlled short movement, then record it. The point of the first value is to create a reference for later comparisons, not to declare it correct.

2. Make one modest change
Adjust only the in-game sensitivity while leaving DPI and the rest of your setup unchanged. A small increase is appropriate when you regularly fall short of turns or need excessive mouse lifting. A small decrease is appropriate when you repeatedly overshoot targets or cannot stop cleanly. Avoid changing DPI and in-game sensitivity together; doing so prevents you from knowing which change affected your control.
3. Repeat the same practice task
Run the same target-stopping and correction exercise you used for the baseline. Look for the quality of your movement rather than a single impressive flick. If the new value feels different but produces steadier stops and corrections over repeated attempts, keep it for another session before deciding.
4. Compare adjacent values, not extremes
Once you have a value that feels close, compare it with a slightly lower and slightly higher setting. Keep notes such as “overshoots close targets,” “comfortable turn,” or “runs out of pad.” Comparing neighbouring values reveals a usable range and avoids the false certainty of searching for one perfect decimal.
5. Validate in real rounds
Practice can hide problems that appear during movement, peeking or pressure. Play normal rounds with the candidate setting and watch for the same symptoms. If you can aim well in practice but lose control in matches, keep the setting stable for more sessions rather than changing it after every poor round.
6. Save the value and stop changing it temporarily
When one setting gives you repeatable stops, adequate turning room and comfortable corrections, record the DPI, sensitivity and eDPI. Use it long enough for the movement to become familiar. Constantly changing values prevents your hands from learning any one relationship.

Diagnose common sensitivity problems

These symptoms do not prove that a specific sensitivity is wrong. They identify which neighbouring value is worth testing next.

Mouse space and equipment considerations
A low sensitivity can require more physical travel for turns and corrections. If you are testing a slower setup, make sure the mouse can move freely without hitting the keyboard or the edge of the pad. A larger mouse pad can be helpful for that reason, but it is optional and not a requirement for any particular eDPI.
Do not buy equipment to solve a problem that has not been identified. First determine whether the issue is overshooting, undershooting, insufficient turning room or inconsistent practice. Then address the specific constraint while keeping the sensitivity test controlled.
Choose a crosshair that stays visible without hiding targets
Prioritize contrast
There is no universally best crosshair color or shared code. Choose a color that remains distinct from the map backgrounds, ability effects and common visual clutter you encounter. A color that looks clear in the settings screen may blend into a particular site or smoky effect, so judge it in actual rounds as well as practice.
Control obstruction
A reticle should mark the point of aim without covering the part of the enemy you need to see. If the center or lines hide small targets, reduce the line length, thickness or opacity. If the crosshair disappears during movement or against bright backgrounds, increase its visibility one property at a time.

Keep the shape readable during motion
Compare the crosshair while standing still, moving, peeking and tracking. A design that is attractive in a menu can become noisy when the screen is moving. Use the simplest shape that remains legible for your eyes and display.
Change crosshair settings in VALORANT
- Open Settings in the VALORANT client.
- Open the Crosshair area. The primary reticle controls are there; advanced options also cover ADS and sniper-scope crosshairs.
- Change one property, such as color, line length, thickness or opacity, and observe the result in the preview and in play.
- Test the reticle against several backgrounds and during movement. If it is hard to see, improve contrast; if it blocks the target, reduce its visual footprint.
- Save a useful version in a crosshair profile before experimenting further.
Riot has changed the settings interface over time. Patch 12.07, dated April 14, 2026, documented a refresh of the PC settings screen, so labels or menu placement may differ from older instructions. If a path looks different, use the live client’s current Crosshair area rather than relying on an old screenshot.

Profiles make experimentation reversible
Riot’s Patch 3.03 notes described saving and switching between crosshair profiles. Patch 5.04 documented 15 available profiles. Use one profile as your baseline, then reserve others for controlled variants such as a smaller reticle, a different color or a version for a particular visibility problem.
Import and export generated codes
Patch 4.05 added generated-code import and export. A code is a convenient way to load a starting point or share your own profile, but it is not proof that the design will suit your display, maps or habits. Import it, test it under your conditions and adjust the properties that affect visibility or obstruction.

Copy a spectated player’s crosshair
Patch 5.04 also documented copying the crosshair of a player you are spectating with /crosshair copy or the shorter command /cc. The copied reticle becomes a starting point for your own testing; it does not establish that the player’s settings are optimal for you.

Use separate reticles where appropriate
ADS and sniper-scope crosshair options are available in the advanced controls. Compare them independently from your primary reticle. A design that is clear for hip-fire aiming may be distracting through a scope, while a very small scoped reticle may be difficult to see during ordinary rifle fights.
Compare crosshair variants methodically

Change one crosshair property at a time when possible. If you alter color, thickness, line length and center gap together, you cannot tell which change solved or created a visibility problem.
Combine sensitivity and crosshair testing without confusing the results
- Fix your mouse DPI and select a baseline sensitivity.
- Create a simple crosshair that is visible and does not cover the target.
- Calibrate sensitivity while leaving the crosshair unchanged. This isolates movement control from visual design.
- Save the stable sensitivity and baseline crosshair in your notes and profiles.
- Test crosshair variants while keeping sensitivity fixed. Evaluate visibility, obstruction and motion clarity.
- After selecting a crosshair, play normal rounds with both settings unchanged. Only then decide whether a separate issue deserves another controlled test.
This order prevents a new reticle from being blamed for a sensitivity change, or a sensitivity change from being blamed on a distracting reticle.

- Copying a professional player’s number: another player’s DPI, hand movement, desk space and preferences are different. Treat the number as an example, not a prescription.
- Changing several inputs at once: altering DPI, sensitivity and crosshair properties together removes the comparison baseline.
- Judging one match: a single game includes map, opponents, fatigue and pressure effects. Use repeated tasks and multiple sessions.
- Testing only in the menu: a reticle must be judged against real backgrounds, effects and motion.
- Chasing a perfect decimal: neighbouring values often perform similarly. Choose the one you can control and keep it stable.
- Using a code without adapting it: imported designs are starting points. Check contrast and obstruction on your own display.
- Ignoring physical space: a sensitivity that demands more travel than your pad allows will create avoidable lifts and missed turns.
- Relying on old menu screenshots: settings layouts can change, including the PC settings refresh documented in Patch 12.07 on April 14, 2026.
A practical decision rule
Keep a sensitivity when you can stop on targets, make small corrections and turn comfortably within your available space across repeated sessions. Keep a crosshair when it stays visible on your maps, remains understandable during movement and does not cover the target. Record both choices in a profile or note, then resist changing them until you have a specific, repeatable problem to investigate.
