There is no single wattage for every Samsung French-door refrigerator: you need the full model number to find its rating. Samsung lists 115 V / 3.5 A for some models and 115 V / 60 Hz / 5.0 A for another. Multiplying volts by amps gives apparent power in volt-amperes (VA), not a confirmed measurement of the refrigerator’s operating watts.
Why the model number matters
“Samsung French-door refrigerator” describes a product category, not one electrical specification. Published ratings differ across models and generations, so a figure for one refrigerator should not be applied to another. Find the full model code on your appliance, then check the matching Samsung documentation and the refrigerator’s rating plate.

What Samsung lists for example models
| Model | Samsung-listed electrical input | What the listing establishes |
|---|---|---|
| RF70H30HERAA | 115 V / 3.5 A | Samsung US identifies this as a 29 cu. ft. Bespoke AI three-door French-door refrigerator. [Samsung US product listing] |
| RF70F27SERAA | 115 V / 3.5 A | Samsung US identifies this as a 26 cu. ft. three-door French-door refrigerator. [Samsung US product listing] |
| RF28R7201SR/AA | 115 V / 60 Hz / 5.0 A | Samsung US identifies this as a 28 cu. ft. four-door French-door refrigerator. [Samsung US product listing] |
Using the listed voltage and current, the first two examples calculate to 402.5 VA (115 × 3.5) and the third to 575 VA (115 × 5.0). These are apparent-power calculations, not measured watts, and they do not mean the refrigerator continuously draws that amount while running. The real operating power depends on factors not supplied by those two nameplate values, including power factor and operating conditions.
Watts, volt-amperes, and annual energy are different
- Watts (W) measure real electrical power at a point in time.
- Volt-amperes (VA) are apparent power; multiplying listed volts by amps produces VA, not necessarily real watts.
- Kilowatt-hours per year (kWh/year) describe energy use over time. They are not an instantaneous watt reading.
For example, Samsung Canada lists 633 kWh/year for the RF23M8070SR/AA and marks that model ENERGY STAR certified. That is a model-specific annual energy figure, not a universal value for Samsung French-door refrigerators. [Samsung Canada product listing]

How to find the figure for your refrigerator
- Record the complete model code from the refrigerator’s identification label or documentation. Do not rely on a partial family name.
- Use that exact code to find the matching Samsung model page and, where available, its Energy Guide. Check that the market and model suffix match your appliance.
- Read the rating plate for electrical input details such as voltage, frequency, and amperage. Treat volts multiplied by amps as VA unless a source provides real watts or the information needed to determine them.
- For annual energy use, use the Energy Guide or model documentation’s kWh/year figure. Keep that figure separate from instantaneous watts.
If you want to observe electricity use at the outlet, an appropriate plug-in monitor may help, but use one only if its electrical rating and instructions make it suitable for a refrigerator. A short observation can vary with cooling demand and operating conditions; it should not be confused with the model’s annual energy estimate.

For a useful comparison, line up the exact model codes and markets, then compare the listed voltage, frequency, and amperage alongside each model’s annual kWh figure. Keep the type of number clear: a nameplate input rating, an energy-label estimate, and a direct measurement answer different questions. The published examples show that ratings vary, but they are not a matched test under one measurement method. Samsung’s older US catalog also lists French-door ratings of 115 V / 60 Hz / 6 A and 115 V / 60 Hz / 5.3 A, further illustrating variation by model and generation. [Samsung US refrigerator catalog]
