How to identify the official ChatGPT app
Android
- Open OpenAI’s ChatGPT Android app help page and follow its Google Play link, or search Google Play for openai chatgpt.
- On the listing, confirm the developer is OpenAI. OpenAI’s help page says, “Make sure you are downloading the app published by OpenAI to ensure you have the official and secure version.”
- For an additional check, the official listing identifies the package as
com.openai.chatgpt.
iPhone and iPad
Use OpenAI’s iOS app guidance to reach its App Store listing, then verify that the publisher is OpenAI.

How to find the official Gemini app
Start with Google’s Gemini app download page. It links to the Google Play and Apple App Store listings. Check the app-store listing and follow the provider’s download page rather than choosing an app based only on its name or icon.
Google says Gemini availability depends on selected devices, languages, and countries. If the app does not appear in your store or is unavailable on your device, check Google’s download page and the local store listing; availability is not universal.
