Start Lost Rites with Captain Brant
- Go to the Stardrop Inn and speak with Captain Brant.
- Select the dialogue option “About the uncovered ruins…” to receive the Lost Rites quest. These quest-start instructions are from Video Games Chronicle’s walkthrough, published October 8, 2026: DD2 Dark Arisen: Open the DLC Spellseal Doors in the Lost Rites quest.
- Open your inventory and use the Proving Ground Compass. It marks the new challenge locations on your map.
The expansion’s 12 dungeon challenges are described on Capcom’s Japanese Capcom Town Store listing. That listing identifies its offered product as a Steam key and says Dragon’s Dogma 2 is required; it does not establish regional pricing or availability elsewhere. Use the compass to find the challenge ruins
After using the Proving Ground Compass, check the map for the marked challenge locations and travel to the ruins. Some ruins contain optional Spellseal Doors; the walkthrough notes that certain areas may require passing through one. The available instructions do not provide a dependable door-by-door route, enemy list, or reward list, so do not assume every marked ruin has the same layout or contents.
Why a Spellseal Door may not open
If the door presents no usable item or will not accept what you carry, the walkthrough identifies this as a main-story progression gate—not a sign that you missed a key in a nearby cave. The specified progression is to follow the main story through Vermund and Battahl and complete A New Godsway. Its reward is the Empowered Godsbane Blade, which the walkthrough says opens the Spellseal Doors.

Return with the Empowered Godsbane Blade
- Continue the main quest line through Vermund and Battahl until you can complete A New Godsway.
- Obtain the Empowered Godsbane Blade awarded for completing that quest.
- Return to the Spellseal Door and use the blade to open it, following the in-game prompt.
The dialogue, compass, and door-opening steps above are based on the VGC walkthrough, not an official Capcom quest manual. Capcom’s cited listing confirms the expansion’s 12-challenge scope, but neither source supplies a verified list of each door’s exact location, reward, or enemies.

Why won’t a Lost Rites Spellseal Door open?
If the door offers no usable item, the walkthrough says it is gated by main-story progress. Complete A New Godsway to obtain the Empowered Godsbane Blade, then return and use it on the door.
