In the PlayStation 4 version of Shadow of the Colossus, the 16 colossi appear in a fixed sequence. Use the game’s sword-light guidance to head toward the active target, and pair it with a numbered map and the matching encounter walkthrough for the route. For optional upgrades, shoot fruit from trees to raise maximum health and collect white-tailed lizards to raise maximum stamina. After finishing the game, Time Attack rewards can make those collectibles easier to locate on a later exploration run.
How to find the 16 colossi
Colossi are encountered one at a time in numbered order. Keep a map that marks their locations by appearance available, then use the sword’s focused light outdoors as a directional cue toward the current target. It points you toward the colossus, but is not a substitute for terrain-specific directions.

- Check the numbered map. Identify the location for the next encounter in the sequence.
- Use the sword’s light. Focus it outdoors and note the direction in which the beam points.
- Ride Agro toward that bearing. The PS4 walkthrough’s first route uses the light relative to the Shrine of Worship as its example.
- Read the matching encounter section. Follow its approach and terrain guidance when the broad direction is not enough.
The route reference is a PS4 walkthrough with a diagrammatic map. It supports the numbered sequence, but not a universal set of precise coordinates that can safely be applied to every release. Treat its directions as PS4 guidance rather than assuming controls or map details are identical on PS2, PS3, and PS4.

Fruit grows on trees around the Forbidden Land. Some trees are easy to miss because they stand at places you might not otherwise explore, including dead-end cliffs and overlooks. Shoot fruit down with your bow, then collect it; eating it increases Wander’s maximum health.
- Look around trees as you explore, especially at dead ends and overlooks.
- Use arrows to knock fruit from branches.
- Collect the fallen fruit to increase maximum health.
How to find white-tailed lizards and raise maximum stamina
White-tailed lizards can appear around the world, including near save shrines. Knock one down with your sword, an arrow, or Agro, then collect it. The collectible may also be described as a white-tailed lizard tail; it increases maximum stamina.
Checking around save shrines is a practical place to start, but lizards are not limited to those locations. The available PS4 references do not establish a dependable total count or a complete set of coordinates for every lizard and fruit tree, so avoid treating an unverified list as exhaustive.
Use post-game locator rewards for a later search
After completing the game, you can unlock Time Attack challenges. Pray at the corresponding colossus statue in the Shrine of Worship to start a trial; each fight has a time limit. Complete its objective to earn a reward, which appears at the back pool of the Shrine. Normal and Hard difficulties have separate reward sets, and items earned this way cannot be used during Time Attack itself.

Their unlock thresholds vary by difficulty. Check the reward table for the relevant difficulty rather than assuming one threshold applies to both. These tools help with a subsequent search; they do not bypass the initial story completion requirement.

The route and collectible instructions here are based chiefly on a walkthrough labeled for PlayStation 4. The game also has earlier releases, but this guidance does not verify that their controls, maps, item behavior, or Time Attack unlock details match. If using a guide for another edition, check that it matches your platform and covers both fruit and white-tailed lizards, as well as the appropriate Normal or Hard reward table.
