1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo find Steam games similar to titles on your wishlist, start with personalized recommendations and the Discovery Queue, then use the Interactive Recommender and tags to steer your search. Steam uses several discovery systems, and none guarantees a match—check each candidate’s store page before adding it.
Which Steam discovery tool should you use?
Steam offers several ways to find games, with different degrees of personalization and control. The Interactive Recommender is useful for filtering a personalized set of suggestions; the Discovery Queue and other store recommendations provide additional routes, including for newer releases.

| Tool | What it is useful for | Personal context and controls |
|---|---|---|
| Your Store recommendations | Starting with games Steam recommends for you. | Steam says recommendations may draw on friend recommendations, games on your wishlist, and titles similar to games you recently played. The discovery overview does not establish a specific control for choosing wishlist games as seed titles. Steam Discovery Update |
| Discovery Queue | Reviewing a guided set of store games, including a route for discovering releases with little or no play history. | Steam describes it as a discovery system distinct from the Interactive Recommender. Steam Discovery Update Valve’s Interactive Recommender announcement |
| Interactive Recommender | Getting suggestions based on the play habits of players with habits similar to yours. | Offers tag filtering and saved settings. It cannot recommend new releases that nobody has played yet, according to Valve. Valve’s announcement Valve’s overview |
| Tag pages and tag-based search | Browsing by a genre, theme, or style you want more of. | You choose the tags to explore; a tag is a useful filter, not proof that two games play alike. Steam Discovery Update |
| Steam Curators and Recommendation Feed | Finding lists and recommendations presented by curators or through the store feed. | These provide additional discovery routes rather than another filter in the Interactive Recommender. Steam Discovery Update Steamworks: Visibility on Steam |
Start with recommendations and the Discovery Queue
- Open Your Store. Look for the personalized recommendations and the Discovery Queue. Steam’s interface can vary, so the exact menu wording or placement may differ.
- Review recommendations against your wishlist. Wishlist and play activity can inform Steam’s recommendations, but Steam’s description does not promise that each recommendation is explicitly based on a particular wishlist game.
- Work through the Queue. Open candidates that catch your eye and check their store pages. The Queue is worth using alongside the Interactive Recommender, especially if you are looking for new releases.
Use the Interactive Recommender for a more focused search
- Open Your Store and choose Interactive Recommender. If the option is not visible in your current Steam interface, look for it within the store’s discovery features; availability and wording may differ between interfaces.
- Filter with relevant tags. Choose tags that describe what you like in wishlist games—such as a genre, theme, or play style. Valve says the tool uses other players with similar play habits, and its announcement describes tag filtering and saved settings.
- Inspect promising results. Read the game description and features on its store page. Similar tags or audience patterns can surface candidates, but they do not establish that a game shares the particular qualities you enjoy.
- Return to your saved settings when useful. Valve describes the recommender as supporting saved settings, so you can keep a useful tag-filter setup for another pass.
Valve calls the Interactive Recommender an addition to, not a replacement for, Steam’s other discovery systems. It also says the tool cannot recommend new releases that nobody has played yet, while the Discovery Queue is designed to do that. For unreleased games or brand-new releases, use the Queue and other store discovery surfaces as well.

Steer the search with tags, curators, and the feed
Choose tags that reflect what you value
Tags work best when they describe the reason you want another game: a genre, setting, theme, or style. Browse tag pages or use tag-based search to explore that angle. If results become too broad, narrow the tags; if they become too restrictive, remove one and compare what appears.

Look beyond personalized rankings
Steam Curators and the Recommendation Feed can help when you want human-curated lists or opinions rather than another personalized ranking. Treat a curator’s recommendation as a lead: open the game’s page and decide whether its description and features fit your taste.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Keep useful candidates and clear out poor matches
When a discovery item interests you, add it to your wishlist so it is easier to revisit. If it is not a fit, mark it ignored where that control is available. Steam documents wishlist management in Steam Support’s Wishlist guide; discovery controls are described in the Steam Discovery Update. This lets you keep promising finds visible without leaving unwanted candidates mixed into your list.
