Wishlist games on Steam for sale alerts, then use SteamDB or IsThereAnyDeal to spot current discounts and compare them with price history. Choose a price you’re happy to pay; a discount tracker can show what happened before, but it can’t guarantee when a game will go on sale again.
Get Steam’s own sale notifications
Add a game to your Steam Wishlist and enable email or mobile notifications. Steam says it sends wishlist alerts for certain deal types, including Daily Deals, Midweek Deals, and Weekend Deals. Steam Support also directs users to wishlists for sale notifications (Steam’s Wishlist Notifications; Steam Support’s sales FAQ).

This is the simplest official option, but don’t treat it as a promise of an alert for every discount or every sale format. Keep your wishlist current and check that notifications are enabled in the channel you use.
Find discounts beyond Steam’s front page
Browse SteamDB’s current discounts
SteamDB’s discounted-games page lets you filter current offers by factors such as price, discount percentage, tags, features, and release date. It can also filter for games on your wishlist or followed list, making it useful when you want to scan a group of games rather than open each store page individually.

Use IsThereAnyDeal for customizable alerts
IsThereAnyDeal offers a waitlist, customizable notification rules, and Steam Wishlist import. You can set rules so you’re notified only when an offer meets your preferences. The setup takes more effort than relying on Steam alone, but it gives you more control over when an alert is useful.
Check whether a discount is actually worthwhile
A large discount percentage is not enough to tell you whether the current price is a good buy. Compare the price you see now with the game’s recorded price history, then judge it against your budget and how much you want to play.

- On SteamDB: Open a game’s page to see its price table and graph. SteamDB says its browser extension can also show recorded low-price information on Steam store pages (SteamDB FAQ).
- On IsThereAnyDeal: Open the game’s price-history page to review previous prices and use its waitlist rules to set an alert for a price that suits you (IsThereAnyDeal).
Price history is a reference, not a forecast. SteamDB says publishers set discounts and can choose their own discount levels; neither past sale patterns nor a tracker can establish when a specific game will next be discounted.

Compare prices in your own region
Read the currency and regional price shown for your account before comparing a current offer with a historical low or another listing. SteamDB documents support for many currencies and regional pricing differences, so prices from different regions may not represent what you can actually buy at your location (SteamDB FAQ).

Keep looking during themed events
Steam discounts also appear around themed events, not only during broad seasonal sales. PC Gamer’s sale calendar, updated September 30, 2026, lists genre-focused events alongside seasonal sales; these can help surface deals between the largest catalog-wide events, but they do not mean a particular wishlisted game will be discounted (PC Gamer’s Steam sale calendar).
Steam’s discovery surfaces may also change: PC Gamer reported on September 29, 2026, that Valve planned to personalize portions of Discounts & Events in 2027. That report concerns which games are surfaced to users, not dynamic pricing or a guarantee of lower prices (PC Gamer’s report).

Choose an alert price, then decide when to buy
- Wishlist the game on Steam and enable email or mobile notifications for a basic sale alert.
- Check SteamDB or IsThereAnyDeal when you want to browse active offers, rather than waiting for a seasonal sale.
- Review its recorded price history and compare the current price in your region and currency with prices you would consider acceptable.
- Set a personal threshold in IsThereAnyDeal if you want an alert only when an offer meets your rules.
- Buy when the offer fits your budget and interest. There is no universal discount percentage that makes every game a good deal; the right price depends on the title, your budget, and its price history.
