How to Find Souvenirs in Forza Horizon 6—and What You Can Display

Forza Horizon 6 confirms a Collection Journal that records discoveries made in Japan, including photographs saved to it, but the official descriptions do not confirm a way to display Journal entries or photos permanently in your estate. You can make progress toward the Journal’s seven Discover Japan Stamps by exploring and taking part in activities around Japan. The estate is a separate confirmed feature: after your first Stamp, you can build and decorate there in the open world.

The useful distinction is between keeping a record and turning that record into a decoration. The Journal is described as a digital collection of souvenirs; the estate is described as a customizable place. Those descriptions establish both features, but not a way to move Journal contents into the estate. This guide covers what counts toward Stamp progress, what the Journal is confirmed to do, and where the official details stop.

What “permanent souvenirs” means in Forza Horizon 6

“Permanent souvenirs” is not an established name for a Forza Horizon 6 mechanic. The official materials describe two features that sound related but are not confirmed to connect: the Collection Journal, which represents discoveries around Japan, and an estate where players can build and decorate.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

An official Xbox Wire article describes the Journal as a digital collection of souvenirs and says photographs of murals, monuments, and other notable places can be saved there. That makes the Journal the confirmed place to keep a record of discoveries in the game. It does not establish that those records can be mounted, placed, or otherwise shown around the estate.

Feature What is confirmed What is not established
Collection Journal A digital record of discoveries made while travelling through Japan; photographs can be saved to it. A way to display Journal entries or photos permanently around the estate, or an exact menu path for doing so.
Estate After the first Stamp, Mei introduces the player to her grandparents’ long-abandoned estate, where players can build and decorate in the open world. That Journal records or photographs can be installed as estate decorations.

These distinctions come from Playground Games’ May 12, 2026 progression announcement and the official Xbox Wire description of the Journal. Neither description gives a procedure for transferring Journal contents to the estate. Avoid assuming there is a souvenir inventory, display case, or placement control unless the game itself explicitly shows one.

In practical terms, “saved” and “displayed” answer different questions. Saving a photograph to the Journal means the game records it there as part of the digital collection described by Xbox Wire. Displaying it permanently would require an additional feature that lets a player choose that record and place or show it somewhere else. The official descriptions do not confirm that second step. The fact that the estate supports building and decorating does not, by itself, establish what kinds of objects or records can be used as decorations.

That distinction also helps avoid a common mix-up around the word “souvenir.” The title uses it in the everyday sense of a memento from exploration, while the confirmed game terminology is Collection Journal and Discover Japan Stamps. The Stamp path tracks progress; photographs and discoveries are described as Journal material; estate building and decorating is a separate activity. The sources do not call Stamps physical keepsakes, estate props, or an inventory of displayable souvenirs.

How to find souvenirs and make Journal progress

Playground Games says that finding things in Japan contributes toward the next Stamp. The developer’s examples span exploration, photography, racing, and other activities, so progress is not described as depending on a single type of collectible.

  • Explore notable places: Find landmarks around Japan.
  • Take photographs: Photograph murals. Xbox Wire also identifies photographs of murals, monuments, and other notable places as Journal records.
  • Collect and customize cars: Both collecting vehicles and customizing them are listed as activities that contribute toward a Stamp.
  • Smash mascots: The developer includes this activity among the ways to make progress.
  • Join Mei’s day tours: These tours are another listed activity.
  • Race: Complete Street Races and Touge Races.
  • Earn income: The Raku-Raku food delivery job is included in the progression examples.

The announcement’s practical rule is broad: “Everything you find in Japan earns you progress towards your next Stamp.” That does not mean every activity necessarily creates a distinct Journal photograph or entry. The statement concerns progress toward Stamps; the official descriptions do not map each activity to a particular Journal record.

For someone primarily interested in souvenirs, the clearest activity-to-record connection is photography. Xbox Wire specifically says photographs of murals, monuments, and other notable places can be saved in the Journal. That makes photographing a striking place the most directly supported way to make a visual memento. The other listed activities still matter to the broader Discover Japan progression, but the sources do not say that smashing a mascot, entering a race, delivering food, or customizing a car automatically creates a souvenir entry.

Landmarks are another natural exploration target because Playground Games names finding them as part of progression, and Xbox Wire includes notable places in its description of Journal photographs. The sources do not provide a landmark checklist, coordinates, map markers, or a required order. They also do not say that a player has to photograph every landmark. Treat the examples as activities that contribute to Stamp progress, not as a complete checklist with an exact completion condition.

  • BUILD YOUR ESTATE — Purchase beautiful homes across Japan and customize garages to showcase your growing car collection as you rise through the Horizon Festival.

The other activities broaden the path beyond photography. Collecting and customizing cars are both named, so they are distinct examples rather than one combined requirement. Street Races and Touge Races are specifically named race types; the announcement does not say that only racing earns progress. Mei’s day tours and the Raku-Raku food delivery job are also examples, while smashing mascots adds another activity. If one kind of activity is not your priority, the overall description points to several different ways to keep moving toward the next Stamp.

There are limits to how specific a guide can be from the confirmed details. No activity-by-activity Stamp values, number of photographs needed, order of discoveries, or fastest route is given. Nor does the official description say that you must complete all these activity types to earn a Stamp. It says finding things contributes toward progress and names examples. That supports a flexible exploration approach, not a fabricated checklist or a promise that one task will produce a particular Journal record.

How Discover Japan Stamps fit into progression

Discover Japan has seven Stamps. As you collect them for the Collection Journal, the progression announcement says they unlock Barn Find Rumors and homes to buy around Japan. Stamps therefore serve as milestones as well as a record of discoveries; the sources do not describe them as physical souvenirs or decorations.

It is useful to separate three outcomes that can otherwise blur together. First, activities contribute progress toward the next Stamp. Second, the Collection Journal represents discoveries and holds photographs described by Xbox Wire. Third, Stamp collection unlocks Barn Find Rumors and homes to buy. The announcement ties these pieces into the wider progression path, but does not say that every Journal entry is a Stamp, that a Stamp is a photo, or that unlocking a home provides a way to display Journal material.

The seven-Stamp figure is the specific scale established for Discover Japan. It is not a stated count of photos, landmarks, or individual souvenirs. The official descriptions do not say how many discoveries are needed for any one Stamp, whether some activities provide more progress than others, or whether the player must complete every named activity. Avoid reading “seven Stamps” as seven collectible objects that can be placed around the estate: the announcement presents them as a progression path.

Stamp progress has a practical reward beyond the Journal’s record-keeping role. Playground Games says collecting Stamps unlocks Barn Find Rumors and homes to buy around Japan. That gives exploration a progression purpose even for players who are not focused on photographs. The announcement does not specify the price of homes, the cost of any activity, the requirements for a particular purchase, or whether a particular Stamp unlocks a particular home. No cost or purchasing guide can be inferred from the stated rewards alone.

After earning the first Stamp, Mei introduces the estate. Playground Games describes it as a place to build and decorate directly in the open world. The announcement confirms the estate’s customization role, but does not say that reaching a particular Stamp unlocks Journal display features or that the Journal can be used to decorate the estate.

  • ITALIAN PASSION CAR PACK — Introduces 4 great new Italian cars in Forza Horizon 6 post-launch, perfect for cruising, racing, or exploring.

The estate timing is therefore clear at a high level—first Stamp, then Mei’s introduction—but the scope of estate decoration is not detailed in the progression announcement. The phrase “build and decorate” supports saying that players can customize the space. It does not support naming individual décor items, describing a placement interface, or claiming that photographs, landmark records, or other Journal entries are among the available decorations.

Can you display Journal photos in the estate?

The official descriptions establish that photos can be saved in the Journal and that the estate can be decorated. They do not confirm that photos, landmarks, or other Journal entries can be placed in the estate or displayed there permanently. Nor do they provide an exact menu path, control, or setting for such a feature.

So, if your goal is to preserve discoveries, use the Collection Journal as the confirmed in-game record. If your goal is to decorate the estate, use its confirmed build-and-decorate feature—but do not assume Journal contents are available as decorations. The sources cited here leave that connection unresolved; they are not enough to give reliable steps for placing a souvenir display.

This is not just a missing button name. A verified procedure would need to establish that the game offers a Journal-to-estate link, identify what records can be selected, and explain how they can be placed or kept there. The May 12, 2026 Playground Games progression announcement confirms the estate’s open-world building and decorating, while Xbox Wire describes photos saved to the Journal. Neither provides those transfer details. Naming a menu, control, display case, or placement action would go beyond what those official descriptions say.

If you are looking for a way to keep a record of a place you visited, the supported answer is the Journal. If you mean a visible memento arranged as part of the estate, the supported answer is that the official descriptions do not confirm this. Do not treat the Journal’s digital collection as proof of a room, wall, shelf, or gallery feature. Likewise, estate customization alone is not proof that every kind of game record can be selected as a decoration.

Players can still approach the features separately: record notable places through the Journal as described by Xbox Wire, and build or decorate the estate once Mei introduces it after the first Stamp. That is a useful distinction rather than a workaround. It gives a confirmed route for recording discoveries and a confirmed feature for customizing the estate without promising a connection that the official materials have not established.

A practical way to approach the feature

  1. Explore Japan and try the listed activities. Finding landmarks, photographing murals, collecting or customizing cars, taking part in Mei’s tours, racing, smashing mascots, and doing the Raku-Raku delivery job are all named routes to Stamp progress.
  2. Use the Collection Journal as your record. The official Xbox Wire description confirms that photographs of notable places can be saved there. It does not specify the menu steps for opening the Journal or saving an individual photograph.
  3. Collect the seven Discover Japan Stamps. Playground Games says Stamp collection unlocks Barn Find Rumors and homes to buy around Japan.
  4. Visit the estate after the first Stamp. Mei introduces it at that progression point, and the developer says you can build and decorate directly in the open world.
  5. Check the game’s own options before expecting a display transfer. If the game presents a specific Journal-to-estate placement action in its interface, follow that in-game instruction. The official descriptions available here do not verify that such an action exists, so there is no substantiated menu route to provide.

These steps are deliberately broad where the confirmed descriptions are broad. The sources name kinds of activities and progression rewards, not a prescribed order, a completion checklist, or exact button inputs. A player can use the listed examples as signposts while exploring, but should not mistake them for a detailed route through every Stamp or every Journal record.

  • BUILD YOUR ESTATE — Purchase beautiful homes across Japan and customize garages to showcase your growing car collection as you rise through the Horizon Festival.

For a photo-focused visit, the supported sequence is simply to find a mural, monument, or other notable place and use the game’s photography and Journal features as described by Xbox Wire. The article does not specify where the photography controls are, how to save an image, or what prompts appear, so those interface details must be learned from the game itself. For broader Stamp progress, the developer’s list includes races, tours, cars, mascots, landmarks, and delivery work as well.

For estate-focused players, the relevant milestone is the first Stamp. The announcement says Mei then introduces the long-abandoned estate, where building and decorating happen directly in the open world. It does not say that you need all seven Stamps before visiting, that homes and the estate are the same feature, or that Journal pictures can be used there. Keep the estate’s confirmed purpose separate from the Journal’s confirmed record-keeping purpose.

What is still unclear

The official descriptions do not settle whether a later game update or an in-game feature offers permanent display of Journal items in the estate. They also do not specify the Journal’s precise menus or controls. Accordingly, this guide can identify the confirmed record and progression systems, but cannot give a verified step-by-step method to install souvenirs as estate decorations.

This qualification matters because “save a photo to the Journal” and “display a photo in the estate” are different actions. The first is confirmed by Xbox Wire; the second is not established by either official description cited here. Treating them as interchangeable would promise a feature or procedure that the official information does not support.

Other practical details remain unspecified too. The official descriptions do not list a required number of photos or landmarks, explain whether a particular discovery is missable, provide an order for the seven Stamps, or give progress values for each activity. They do not identify prices for homes or costs for estate decorations, and they do not establish that any physical guide or product is necessary to collect or keep souvenirs in-game. There is no verified special purchase, add-on, or external item required for the activities described.

For now, the accurate expectation is straightforward: use the Collection Journal as the confirmed digital record of discoveries and photographs, pursue the seven Discover Japan Stamps through the named activities, and treat the estate as a separate build-and-decorate feature that becomes available after the first Stamp. If the game itself later presents an explicit way to transfer Journal content into the estate, its own interface can confirm that function; the official descriptions from Playground Games and Xbox Wire do not yet provide such a method.

How many Discover Japan Stamps are there?

The progression path has seven Stamps. Collecting them for the Collection Journal unlocks Barn Find Rumors and homes to buy around Japan.

What activities help earn Stamp progress?

Playground Games lists finding landmarks, photographing murals, collecting and customizing cars, smashing mascots, joining Mei’s day tours, completing Street and Touge Races, and earning income through the Raku-Raku food delivery job. The announcement does not provide values or a required order for these activities.

When can I visit the estate?

After you obtain your first Stamp, Mei introduces you to her grandparents’ long-abandoned estate. Playground Games says players can build and decorate there directly in the open world.

Is there a menu path or control for displaying souvenirs?

The official descriptions do not give a Journal-to-estate menu path, control, or placement procedure. Check the game’s interface for any explicit feature rather than relying on an unverified step list.

Do I need to buy anything to find or display souvenirs?

The official descriptions cited here establish no physical product, special purchase, or external item required for these in-game activities. They also do not establish costs for homes or estate decorations.

The Bottom Line

Use the Collection Journal as Forza Horizon 6’s confirmed record of discoveries and photos, and explore the listed activities to earn the seven Discover Japan Stamps. The first Stamp brings Mei’s introduction to the buildable, decoratable estate. But Playground Games’ May 12, 2026 progression announcement and Xbox Wire’s Journal description do not confirm a way to display Journal entries or photos permanently in the estate, so there is no verified placement procedure to follow.
