To make a Photo Remix, open Google Photos and tap Create, then choose a template under Remix your photos or tap Photo remix to browse. Save a suggested creation with Save; saved creations appear in your Photos view and can be found by searching for Creations.
Start a new Photo Remix
Google’s current Android instructions place Photo Remix in the Create tab. You can begin with a featured template or open the template browser to explore more options. Google’s Photo Remix help page describes the current flow; available controls can vary by account and app version.

- Open the Google Photos app and tap Create at the bottom.
- Under Remix your photos, tap a featured template, or tap Photo remix to open template selection.
- Tap View all to browse templates. Use category labels to filter the set.
- Choose a template. If an acknowledgement screen appears the first time, review it and tap Try now to continue.
- Follow the prompts shown for that template. Some personalized templates with badges use insights from your life; Google says some can start generation without an uploaded image and require additional Gemini feature eligibility.
Not every account sees identical controls. Google’s older announcement described choosing a style and photo, then using Generate, Save, or Share, but the current help flow is organized around templates in Create.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteSave a creation and find it later
Google Photos can surface creations in New for you or in the featured memories carousel. Open the creation and tap Save; in the full-screen view, Save is at the top right. Saved creations join other photos and videos in the Photos view. To locate them later, open Search and enter Creations. Google also says you can search for a specific type of creation. See Google’s creations help page for the documented save and search options.

Turn off automatically featured creation types
If you do not want certain creations featured in memories, Google documents this Android path:
- Tap your profile photo or initial.
- Tap Google Photos settings → Preferences → Memories → Memory types.
- Turn off Creations, or adjust individual creation types such as Remix, animations, cinematic photos, and collages.
Share a Remix
For a newly generated photo, use Share on the result screen if that control is available. For a saved creation, open it and use Share from its creation view. Google documents sharing controls for Android and iPhone/iPad, but their placement and labels may differ by platform and app version. Follow the control shown on the result or creation you have open; Google’s sharing instructions cover sharing in Photos.

Who can use Photo Remix, and what can affect access?
- Account and age: Photo Remix and Video Remix are limited to users 18 and older. A personal Google Account is required; Google Workspace and school accounts are not supported.
- Backup and connection: Google says generative AI features require backed-up photos and a network connection.
- Region and eligibility: The feature may be unavailable or work differently by region, and additional eligibility requirements may apply.
- Generation limits: Google limits the number of photo or video generations per day. A Google AI plan increases the allowance, but Google’s cited help information does not give a stable numeric quota.
- Results: Google cautions that generated results may be unexpected or inaccurate.
For Google’s full eligibility and limits details, see its generative AI features help page.
