For shoppers in the United States, the normal answer is not another national chain: Techtronic Industries’ 2024 annual report, filed in 2025, describes a long-term agreement giving The Home Depot exclusive distribution of RYOBI brand power tools. The same report says RYOBI outdoor power equipment is sold in North America exclusively through Home Depot retail stores. If a tool is missing from your local branch, search the exact Ryobi model on the official U.S. site and then use Home Depot’s online catalog, store-inventory and delivery tools. A listing on a marketplace or from a reseller may exist, but its authorization, condition and warranty must be checked one listing at a time.
What “exclusive to Home Depot” actually means
The clearest public explanation comes from Techtronic Industries’ 2024 annual report, filed in 2025. It says, “The Group has a long term supply agreement with The Home Depot for the exclusive distribution of the RYOBI brand power tools.” The report separately says RYOBI and HOMELITE outdoor power-equipment products are sold in North America exclusively through Home Depot retail stores.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
That language explains why a U.S. shopper generally will not find a new Ryobi power tool at a competing national hardware chain. It describes the official distribution arrangement; it does not prove that every individual listing on the internet is unauthorized or that no tool can ever appear through a reseller, liquidation sale, marketplace, estate sale or secondhand seller. Those alternative listings are separate transactions whose seller, authenticity, condition, return policy and warranty need to be verified.

It also does not mean every Ryobi product is stocked in every Home Depot store. Assortment, store inventory, online fulfillment, regional versions and limited-run products can differ. “Not on the shelf at my store” is therefore a different problem from “not distributed through Home Depot.”

The reliable U.S. search process
Use the model number as your primary search key. Product names such as “18V blower” or “40V mower” describe broad families and can match several kits, generations and bare tools. The model number narrows the result to the exact item, included accessories and battery system.
- Start on the official Ryobi U.S. product page. Search the product name and the model number separately. Record the complete designation, including any kit suffix, battery-and-charger bundle wording or regional marking.
- Read the purchase options on that page. U.S. pages may offer an online purchase path and direct buyers to Home Depot. The current U.S. limited-edition page, for example, directs shoppers to buy online or at a local Home Depot while supplies last.
- Search the exact model number in Home Depot’s Ryobi catalog. Search without extra words first, then try the product name if the number returns no result. The catalog is organized into tools, batteries and chargers, outdoor equipment, cleaning products, storage and accessories.
- Change the selected store. A product can be unavailable at one branch but available at another. Use the catalog’s store-stock and delivery filters to check nearby locations, ship-to-home service and pickup choices. Treat the displayed quantity as time-sensitive rather than a guarantee.
- Check the product page for a kit-versus-tool distinction. A bare tool, a kit with a battery and charger, and a multi-tool bundle can have different model numbers and prices. Searching only the everyday name can make an available kit look like a missing tool.
- Classify the result if no listing appears. The item may be out of stock, a limited edition, discontinued, replaced by a newer model, or intended for another country. The cited official pages do not constitute a complete discontinued-product database, so absence from a search result is not proof of permanent discontinuation.
- Save the exact listing before buying. Capture the model number, included battery, charger, accessories, seller shown at checkout, condition, return window and stated warranty. This record helps you spot a substituted model or a changed listing later.
Why a Ryobi tool can be hard to find
Local shelves are not the whole catalog
Home Depot’s online assortment is broader than what a particular branch can display. A store may reserve shelf space for high-volume tools while fulfilling less common models from another store or a distribution facility. Search the retailer’s catalog before concluding that the product is unavailable.
Inventory changes faster than product pages
A product page can remain visible while a store temporarily has no units. Conversely, a delivery slot or pickup quantity can disappear after another customer checks out. Recheck the model page, switch stores and compare delivery with pickup rather than relying on a single stock message.

Ryobi’s U.S. limited-edition page says its featured products are available online or at a local Home Depot while supplies last. At the time represented by that page, the collection included a snow shovel, fan kit, blower kit and hand vacuum. The page is evidence of a current sales path, not a promise that the collection will stay listed or that every store will receive every item.

Discontinued and replaced models create misleading searches
Manufacturers can leave manuals, support information or older references online after retail inventory is gone. Search the exact model, inspect whether the page offers a current purchase route, and compare the specifications with newer models before assuming a third-party listing is the same product. Do not treat a different model number as an equivalent replacement without checking voltage, attachments, performance claims and included equipment.
Regional products are not automatically U.S. products
Ryobi assortments and retailers differ by country. A model shown on an Australian or European site may have a different charger, plug, safety certification, warranty or battery offering. A foreign product page can explain why a U.S. search fails, but it does not establish that the item can be legally or economically imported for U.S. use.
Choose the purchase route by the evidence available
| Route | What it can confirm | What you still need to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Home Depot store listing | Official U.S. retail listing, selected-store stock and pickup information when shown | That the displayed store quantity is still available when you arrive; exact kit contents and model suffix |
| Home Depot online delivery | Whether the catalog currently offers a ship-to-address option for that model | Delivery date, shipping charge, package contents and return conditions shown at checkout |
| Official Ryobi U.S. product page | Exact product identity, model information and the purchase route the brand currently presents | Live stock, fulfillment details and whether the page describes a limited-run item |
| Reseller, marketplace or clearance listing | Only the information supplied by that individual seller | Seller identity, authenticity, new/used/refurbished condition, serial or model match, returns and warranty eligibility |
| Secondhand sale | Potential access to an older or discontinued model | Battery health, charger compatibility, missing guards or accessories, damage, proof of purchase and any remaining warranty |
The official sources reviewed do not verify any particular marketplace seller, current third-party inventory or warranty treatment for gray-market products. A listing outside the official route should be treated as unverified until you confirm those details directly with the seller and, where relevant, Ryobi support.
Check the battery family before ordering
“Ryobi” is not one universal battery system. Home Depot’s catalog distinguishes 18V ONE+, 40V, USB Lithium and 80V families. A battery that fits one family should not be assumed to fit another merely because both products carry the Ryobi name.

| Family shown in the U.S. catalog | Examples or scope | Compatibility rule |
|---|---|---|
| 18V ONE+ | Large range of handheld tools and outdoor products | Home Depot states: “Any RYOBI ONE+ battery works with any RYOBI ONE+ product.” Keep this claim within the ONE+ platform. |
| 40V | Lawn mowers, blowers and string trimmers are examples listed in the catalog | Verify that the tool and battery are both specified for 40V; do not substitute an 18V ONE+ pack. |
| USB Lithium | Compact USB-rechargeable tools and accessories | Confirm the product’s USB Lithium designation and the supplied charging method. |
| 80V | Higher-voltage outdoor equipment category | Check the exact 80V battery and charger requirements; compatibility is not implied by the Ryobi brand alone. |
Ryobi’s 2026 U.S. limited-edition page describes 30 years of 18V ONE+ battery compatibility. That is the brand’s statement about the ONE+ platform, not an independently audited statistic and not a claim that all Ryobi voltage families share batteries.
How to avoid a kit mismatch
- Confirm whether the listing is a bare tool or includes a battery and charger.
- Match the voltage and platform printed in the title, specifications and battery compartment.
- Check that the charger is intended for the same battery family; a physically similar charger is not enough.
- For used tools, ask for a photograph of the model label and the battery label rather than relying on a seller’s shorthand description.
What to do when the exact model is absent
Try alternate search terms without changing the model
Remove punctuation, spaces or kit wording from the model-number search, then search the product name. Record every result that shares the base model but reject listings with a different suffix until you know what changed. A suffix can identify a battery bundle, color, regional version or revision.
Use the official page to identify the current sales status
If the Ryobi page offers a Home Depot purchase route, follow that route and test a different store or delivery address. If it only provides specifications or support information, the product may be temporarily unavailable or no longer in the active assortment; the page alone cannot establish which.
Look for a same-platform alternative only after documenting the need
When a model is unavailable, write down the task, required voltage, attachment interface, runtime expectation and included accessories. Then compare current models within the same battery family. Do not buy a visually similar tool simply because its name contains the same function; attachment systems and battery platforms can differ.

Ask a seller precise questions
For a non-official listing, request the exact model number, a photo of the rating label, condition, included battery and charger, return period, seller location and written warranty terms. If the seller cannot answer those questions, the low price may reflect missing equipment or unsupported warranty coverage.

Retail arrangements are regional, so U.S. exclusivity should not be generalized worldwide. Ryobi Australia says, “In Australia, the brand is distributed through Bunnings Warehouse,” and its store locator says RYOBI products can be purchased exclusively at Bunnings. The Australian site describes more than 200 products in its ONE+ range and says that platform began using a consistent battery system there in 1996; those figures describe Australia, not the size or history of the U.S. assortment.
Ryobi Europe provides links to separate country-specific sites. Use the site for the country where you will use the tool, then follow the retailer it identifies. The European landing page does not establish one retailer for every European country, so do not infer a pan-European seller from a single national page.
- Choose your country on the regional Ryobi site.
- Record the local model number, voltage, plug type and battery designation.
- Use the retailer or store locator named by that regional site.
- Check local warranty, returns, electrical-safety requirements and spare-parts support before importing a tool from another market.
Checklist for a reseller or secondhand purchase
- Identity: The model number on the listing, tool label and packaging should agree.
- Platform: Confirm 18V ONE+, 40V, USB Lithium or 80V before assuming an existing battery will work.
- Condition: Establish whether the item is new, used, refurbished, clearance or an open-box return.
- Completeness: List every battery, charger, guard, blade, nozzle, attachment and manual included.
- Seller: Check the legal seller name, location, contact method and feedback history rather than relying only on a product title.
- Returns: Read the deadline, restocking fee, shipping responsibility and conditions for defective or incorrect items.
- Warranty: Obtain the written terms and ask whether coverage follows the product, the original purchaser or an authorized sales channel.
- Safety: Avoid tools with damaged battery housings, altered wiring, missing guards or an unidentifiable charger.
These checks do not make an unofficial listing equivalent to an authorized Home Depot purchase; they reduce the chance of paying for the wrong model or an item you cannot return or support.

Common questions answered quickly
Can I buy a new Ryobi power tool from another major U.S. hardware chain?
The annual-report disclosure identifies Home Depot as the exclusive distributor for RYOBI brand power tools, so another national chain is not the normal official route. Individual reseller or clearance listings are separate and require listing-level verification.
Does a missing Home Depot store listing mean Ryobi stopped making the tool?
No. It can mean the selected store is out of stock, the item is online-only, the product is limited edition, the model has been replaced, or the page is for another region. The official pages do not provide a complete discontinued-model database.
Can any Ryobi battery power any Ryobi tool?
No. The published cross-compatibility statement applies to ONE+ batteries and ONE+ products. Match the exact battery family and voltage shown for the tool.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Is a foreign Ryobi model safe to use in the United States?
Not automatically. Charger input, plug, certification, battery design, warranty and parts support can differ by region. Verify those details before importing.
Are marketplace Ryobi listings authorized?
Authorization and warranty status were not established for any particular listing. Verify the seller, model, condition, returns and warranty before paying.
Bottom line for a missing model
For a U.S. purchase, identify the exact model on Ryobi’s official site, search that model in Home Depot’s catalog, and test other stores plus delivery options. Confirm the battery family before ordering. If the model still does not appear, determine whether it is out of stock, limited edition, discontinued or regional before considering an unofficial listing. Outside the United States, follow the country-specific Ryobi site and the retailer it names rather than applying the U.S. Home Depot arrangement to another market.
