Radiance is Riftbound’s fifth set, but its official card odds, rarity symbols, collector-number range, and set code were not confirmed in the Riot material available as of October 13, 2026. The reliable numbers often quoted online belong to Origins, not Radiance. Use the Origins information below as a clearly labeled reference, and wait for a Radiance checklist or collecting guide before treating any symbol or pull rate as official.
What is officially confirmed about Radiance
Riot’s 2026 roadmap identifies Radiance as Riftbound Set 5. The roadmap lists Radiance previews beginning September 21, a Radiance Pre-Rift event scheduled for October 16–18, and a French release on October 23, 2026. Those entries are roadmap milestones, not proof of a single worldwide release date for every language or region.

The retrieved official material does not publish a Radiance checklist or collecting guide. Consequently, it does not establish Radiance’s total card count, collector-number denominator, set code, rarity-gem design, frame treatments, booster-slot distribution, foil policy, or odds for Epics, alternate-art cards, overnumbers, or signatures.
That distinction matters when opening packs or buying singles. A card that resembles an Origins rarity mark may use a different convention in Radiance, and an Origins-style number such as “061/298” cannot be used to predict Radiance’s denominator. Until Riot documents the set, label any Radiance-specific number or rate as unconfirmed rather than filling the gap with an Origins assumption.

Origins rarity symbols: the verified reference system
Riot game designer Nik Davidson’s July 28, 2025 collecting article describes four functional rarity levels for Riftbound: Origins. Rarity is communicated by the card-frame treatment and by a gem near the bottom of the card. These visual cues are documented for Origins only.
| Origins rarity | Gem shape | Frame and finish described by Riot |
|---|---|---|
| Common | Round | Simple bronze frame. |
| Uncommon | Triangle | Silver frame. |
| Rare | Square | Gold foil frame. |
| Epic | Pentagon | Minimal gold frame with foil. |
On an Origins card, use both signals instead of relying on color alone. Foil glare, lighting, scans, and protective sleeves can make a frame appear different. The gem’s shape and the printed collector information provide a second check. Riot’s article calls Epics the rarest functional level and says they appear in approximately one of every four Origins booster packs.
That “one in four” statement is an approximate product-level rate, not a promise that every group of four packs contains an Epic. It also says an Epic occupies a rare slot when it appears, which means one pack can contain two Epics if the other rare-or-better slot also produces one. The article does not turn that observation into a Radiance rate.

Origins collector numbers and special markings
Riot’s June 6, 2025 preview article states that Origins has 298 cards in its main set. The collecting article illustrates the format with a card numbered “061/298” and explains that overnumbered cards begin at 299.
- Main-set card: the number is presented within the 298-card Origins denominator, such as 061/298.
- Alternate art: an “a” follows the collector number. The suffix is part of the identification and should not be omitted when recording a collection.
- Overnumber: the number is above 298; Riot’s example rule starts these cards at 299.
- Signature overnumber: an asterisk appears in the collector number.
Riot also says every Origins card has a foil version that can be pulled from booster packs, while rares, Epics, and overnumbered cards are foil by default. “Foil” therefore describes both a finish and, for certain rarities, the normal version of the card; it is not by itself a Radiance identification rule.

How an Origins booster is arranged
The official collecting article lists the following Origins booster composition, plus an informational insert:
| Slot | Cards listed by Riot | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 7 | Seven common slots are listed for the standard booster layout. |
| Uncommon | 3 | Three uncommon slots are listed. |
| Rare or better | 2 | An Epic can replace a card in a rare slot; a pack can therefore contain two Epics. |
| Foil | 1 | Usually common or uncommon, but the slot may contain a rare or Epic. |
| Token or rune | 1 | A separate token/rune slot is listed. |
The slot description explains why simply counting shiny cards is not a reliable rarity method. A foil slot can upgrade to a rare or Epic, and rare and Epic cards are foil by default. For an Origins opening, identify the gem and collector number first, then use the finish as supporting evidence.
Approximate Origins pull rates, with the correct units
Riot gives several estimates for Origins. Each figure has a different unit, so do not combine them as though they were all per-pack probabilities.
| Card type | Approximate rate stated by Riot | Unit and limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Epic | About 1 in 4 | Booster packs. An Epic replaces a card in a rare slot when it appears. |
| Alternate art | About 2 | Per box, as an approximate estimate. |
| Overnumber | About 1 | Per 3 boxes, as an approximate estimate. |
| Signature overnumber | About 1 in 10 | Among overnumber cards, not among all booster packs. |
These are Origins estimates credited to Riot Games in 2025. They do not guarantee an outcome in an individual pack or box, and they cannot be relabeled as Radiance odds. The signature figure is especially easy to misread: it describes the subset of overnumber cards, so it is not a direct “one in ten boxes” statement.
Step-by-step: identify a card without guessing the set
- Confirm the set name or product context. Separate Radiance cards from Origins cards before reading symbols. A loose card, trade binder, or mixed opening can contain more than one set.
- Read the collector number exactly. Record every digit, the denominator, any trailing “a,” and any asterisk. For Origins, the denominator 298 and numbers beginning at 299 for overnumbers are documented. No equivalent Radiance range is documented yet.
- Locate the rarity gem. On Origins, the gem is near the bottom of the card. Match its shape to the Origins table, but do not apply those shapes to Radiance until Riot confirms them.
- Inspect the frame treatment under neutral light. Origins uses bronze, silver, and gold treatments described above. Avoid classifying a card from a dark scan, colored sleeve, or screen image alone.
- Check whether the finish is expected. Origins rares, Epics, and overnumbers are foil by default, while every Origins card has a foil version pullable in boosters. A foil surface alone does not identify an alternate-art or signature card.
- Compare against an official checklist or guide. If the card is Radiance and no Riot checklist supplies the same fields, record the card as “Radiance, details pending confirmation” rather than assigning an inherited Origins rarity or number rule.
- Preserve the evidence. Keep the wrapper, language information, and purchase date with unusual pulls. This helps resolve later questions about regional products or an updated checklist.
How to read a collector number correctly
Collector numbers answer several different questions at once. The number before the slash identifies the card’s position; the denominator identifies the size of the numbered group. A suffix or symbol can identify a variant within that group. For example, Origins’ “061/298” indicates card 61 in the 298-card main set. An “a” after the number marks alternate art, while a number above 298 marks an overnumber; an asterisk identifies a signature overnumber.

Do not drop the denominator when entering cards into a spreadsheet. “061” could be ambiguous in a collection that contains multiple sets or languages, while “061/298” preserves the Origins numbering context. Likewise, enter “a” and the asterisk as separate fields or as part of the exact text so an alternate-art or signature card is not merged with its base counterpart.

What to verify when Riot publishes Radiance details
When an official Radiance checklist or collecting guide appears, use a fixed comparison so that pack openings, trades, and collection software all use the same definitions.
| Verification field | Question to answer | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Set and language | Does the card belong to Radiance, and which language or regional product is it from? | Release timing and printed information can differ by language or region. |
| Rarity tier | What are the named tiers, and which gem or frame identifies each one? | Prevents Origins symbols from being reused without evidence. |
| Collector number | What is the main-set denominator and range? | Establishes whether a number is in the base set or outside it. |
| Variant notation | Are alternate-art suffixes, overnumbers, or signature marks used? | Separates visually similar versions in a checklist and trade. |
| Pack slot | Which slot can contain each rarity or variant? | Connects a pull to the correct product odds. |
| Rate unit | Is the published figure per pack, per box, or conditional on a special subset? | Stops a box estimate from being quoted as a pack probability. |
Save the publication date and the exact product language with your notes. If a later guide revises a checklist or clarifies a regional product, you can update the record without losing which version supplied the original number.

Treating a foil as an alternate art
Mistake: assuming any reflective card is an alternate-art pull.
Correction: read the collector number and look for the documented suffix. In Origins, all cards have a foil version, and higher rarities are foil by default; the finish alone does not establish alternate art.
Calling every high number a signature
Mistake: treating any Origins number above 298 as a signature card.
Correction: an Origins overnumber is above 298, but a signature overnumber additionally carries an asterisk in its collector number.

Converting a subset rate into a pack rate
Mistake: reading “one in ten overnumber cards” as “one in ten boxes.”
Correction: keep the condition attached: the estimate applies within the overnumber subset, while overnumbers themselves are estimated at about one per three Origins boxes.
Assuming a roadmap date is universal release coverage
Mistake: treating the October 23, 2026 French date as the release date for every market and language.

Practical buying and trading guidance before Radiance data is published
If you are opening Radiance immediately, separate three kinds of information in your records:
- Printed facts: the set name, language, collector number, and any visible symbol or suffix.
- Product facts: the package configuration, pack count, and region shown on the product.
- Unconfirmed labels: community names for rarity or variant status that have not yet appeared in an official Riot checklist.
Use the first two categories to describe a card in a trade. For example, a neutral description can state the exact printed number, finish, language, and the pack product, without claiming that a symbol means “Epic” under an unconfirmed Radiance system. This avoids mislabeling a card while the official terminology is incomplete.
When comparing sealed products, do not use the Origins estimates to justify a Radiance price or expected pull. An approximate historical rate cannot establish the contents of a later set, and the retrieved official sources provide no Radiance-specific odds with which to calculate expected value.
Bottom line for Radiance collectors
Radiance is confirmed as Riftbound’s fifth set, with roadmap milestones in late 2026, but the official material reviewed does not yet establish its rarity symbols, collector-number range, set code, booster layout, or pull rates. The dependable reference is Origins: round, triangle, square, and pentagon gems mark common through Epic; the main set has 298 cards; alternate art uses an “a,” overnumbers begin above 298, and signature overnumbers carry an asterisk; and Riot’s approximate Origins estimates cover one Epic per four packs, two alternate arts per box, one overnumber per three boxes, and one signature per ten overnumbers. Keep those facts labeled as Origins, and wait for Radiance’s own checklist before treating any number or odds as official.
