To find Pokémon you marked with the favorite star, open your Pokémon inventory from Map View and search for favorite. The matching Pokémon will appear in your collection list.
Find your favorited Pokémon
Use Pokémon GO’s built-in inventory search. The search term is favorite—use that spelling rather than trying to search for a general word such as “star.”

- Start in Map View, the main game screen.
- Open Main Menu.
- Tap Pokémon to open your Pokémon collection.
- Tap the magnifying-glass button at the top of the collection list.
- Enter
favoritein the search field.
The inventory should then show Pokémon you have marked as favorites. The filter locates matching Pokémon; it does not add or remove the favorite mark.
How to mark a Pokémon as a favorite
If a Pokémon is not appearing in the results, open that Pokémon’s profile from your collection and tap the star. Tapping the star adds the Pokémon to your favorites list. You can then return to the inventory search and enter favorite to locate it.

Why the favorite mark matters
Favoriting is an inventory-safety measure as well as a way to identify Pokémon you value. Pokémon GO’s Help Center explains that a favorited Pokémon cannot be transferred while it remains on the favorites list. This helps protect a valuable, rare or sentimental Pokémon during routine inventory management.
Removing the transfer protection
If you later decide to transfer a favorited Pokémon, open its profile and remove the favorite mark by tapping the star again. The Pokémon must no longer be favorited before it can be transferred. Removing the mark does not transfer the Pokémon; it only removes the protection associated with the favorite status.

Searching does not change status
Entering favorite in the inventory search is only a way to display matching entries. It does not favorite every Pokémon shown, alter their profiles or change their transfer status. To change status, use the star on an individual Pokémon’s profile.
If favorite returns no Pokémon
Check the search term
Use the exact term favorite shown in Pokémon GO’s official inventory-search guidance. Avoid replacing it with favorites, “starred” or a translated variation unless the game’s current search guide specifically lists that syntax for your language.

Confirm that you are searching the Pokémon inventory
The magnifying glass must be opened after you tap Main Menu → Pokémon. A search field in another part of the game, such as a search for friends, raids or items, will not filter your Pokémon collection.
Make sure the star was applied
Search results include only Pokémon whose profiles currently show the favorite star as active. Open a Pokémon that you expected to find and check its profile. If the star is not active, tap it once, return to the collection and run the favorite search again.

Allow for interface changes
Button placement and labels can change with Pokémon GO updates. If the wording or position differs slightly, look for the collection opened from Main Menu and its magnifying-glass search control. The underlying operation remains an inventory search, but the current app version determines the exact on-screen arrangement.
“Favorite Pokémon” versus saved search shortcuts
Pokémon GO players sometimes use “favorites” to mean saved search shortcuts—the searches they saved for quick reuse. That is different from Pokémon marked with the star on their profiles.
The procedure in this guide concerns favorited Pokémon: open the Pokémon inventory and search for favorite. Community discussions have reported changes to where saved search terms appear, but those reports do not establish a current, official location for shortcuts. If you meant saved searches rather than starred Pokémon, do not assume that the shortcut interface uses the same menu or search term; check the controls shown in your current app version.
Using the result list safely
After the search is applied, review the displayed Pokémon before changing inventory. A favorite result is still an individual Pokémon entry, so open its profile when you need to inspect details or change its star status. Keeping the star active prevents that Pokémon from being transferred until you deliberately remove the mark.
