To find outfit dyes in Ghost of Yōtei, check dye houses and regional merchants as you explore. More options open after the main story: start New Game+ from the title screen, earn Ghost Flowers by completing objectives, and trade them with the new vendor for additional cosmetics. If you want one armor set’s appearance with another set’s stats, install patch v2.0 or later and use its appearance option.
Where to look for dyes during the story
Dye houses and regional vendors are the main places to look for recolors while progressing through the story. A guide reports that dye houses recolor weapons and armor, while merchants in regional hubs also sell cosmetics. The available stock can depend on where you are in the story, so check vendors as you reach new areas rather than assuming one shop carries every dye. Guide to dye houses and merchants

Black Dye House has a story-progress condition
The guide reports that the Black Dye House’s wares are limited until you complete the main quest “The Way of the Shamisen.” If its selection seems sparse, check your quest progress and revisit the shop after completing that quest. This condition is specific to the Black Dye House; it should not be assumed to apply to every dye merchant. Guide to dye houses and merchants
How to unlock more cosmetics after the main story
- Finish the main story.
- Return to the title screen and select New Game+. It unlocks after the main story is complete.
- Complete objectives in New Game+ to earn Ghost Flowers.
- Exchange Ghost Flowers with the new vendor for additional cosmetics, charms, and two armor sets.
Sucker Punch’s 2025 announcement says the vendor offers more than 30 new cosmetics, including new armor sets and weapon dyes, plus 10 new charms. These are New Game+ rewards, separate from the dye options found at story-era merchants. New Game+ overview · Sucker Punch’s New Game+ announcement

How to use one armor set’s look with another’s stats
Patch v2.0 adds an option to keep one armor set’s appearance while using another set’s stats. The feature is useful when you prefer a particular look but want the gameplay effects of different armor. The official patch announcement confirms the option but does not specify its menu path or controls, so check the in-game armor interface after installing the update. Patch v2.0 announcement
PlayStation announced patch v2.0 for October 1, 2026 globally, with October 2 availability in some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Check that the update is installed and available in your region before looking for the option. The same update adds the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion, which includes armor and dyes; it is included with the Complete Edition or available through the Complete Edition Upgrade.
