Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallSign in to the platform account that originally paid for the game, then check that account’s purchase history or receipt and its Purchased, Library, or redownload area. If the title is missing or a price appears, do not buy it again immediately: verify the account, ownership record, hidden items, license or subscription status, and the game’s availability for that platform and region.
Deleting an installed copy normally is a different event from losing an entitlement. However, redownloading a delisted title, a subscription game, or a game accessed through sharing depends on the platform and the specific title. Use the checks below to establish what access you actually have.

Start with this five-minute ownership check
- Identify the exact platform and edition. Note whether the game is for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, Steam, or another system. Different generations and regions can have different records.
- Sign in to the account that made the purchase. A console profile may be able to play a game through sharing or a subscription without owning it. The account currently signed in is not necessarily the account that paid.
- Open order history and find the receipt. Confirm the title, purchase date, platform, region, and order or transaction number. For a child account, check the parent or guardian’s email because Nintendo says its receipt is sent there.
- Open the platform’s Purchased, Library, or redownload view. Check whether the game is already installed, hidden, represented by a virtual card, or filtered out of the default view.
- Interpret the result before taking action. A download button usually indicates an entitlement. A price prompt usually indicates a different account, an incomplete payment, a subscription or shared-access situation, or a title that is no longer available under the current conditions.
If you have a receipt but no download option, continue with the platform-specific checks rather than repurchasing. If you have no receipt or purchase record, establish whether the game came from a subscription, family or console sharing, a free claim, or another user’s account.
What a digital purchase actually gives you
A digital storefront records an entitlement against an account. Installing the game downloads files to a console or computer; deleting those files does not by itself prove that the account record was deleted. To download again, the storefront must still recognize the account as entitled and still offer a compatible copy for that title, platform, region, and generation.

Access can come from several sources that look identical while the game is installed:
- One-time purchase: the account completed a sale and should normally show an owned or purchased record.
- Subscription catalog access: the game was playable while a subscription was active and while the title remained in that catalog. Losing the subscription or a catalog change can remove access without indicating that a paid purchase failed.
- Console, family, or account sharing: another account supplied the entitlement. A console may launch the game even though your own account has no purchase record.
- Free claim or promotional license: the account may have claimed a title at no charge under terms that differ from a standard sale.
- Incomplete payment: a storefront may display a game temporarily during payment authorization and remove it when the transaction is declined.
Use the receipt and the account’s transaction history to distinguish these cases. A game that was merely available to play is not automatically a game that your current account can download without charge.

PlayStation: redownload routes and missing-purchase fixes
Use the correct library route
On the web, sign in to the PlayStation account that purchased the game. Open the avatar menu, choose Game Library, select Purchased, choose the title, and select Download.
On PlayStation 5, open Games home > Game Library > Your Collection, select the game, and choose Download. On PlayStation 4, open Library > Purchased, select the title, and choose Download. In the PlayStation App, open Game Library > Purchased, select the game, and choose Download to Console. App-based remote downloads require the console to be linked and remote-download features to have been configured.

If the game is absent or shows a lock
First check the account’s transaction history. A receipt on a different PlayStation account will not make the purchase appear in the account currently displayed. Also check hidden games and, where relevant, Console Sharing and Offline Play on PS5 or primary-PS4 activation on PS4.
For a lock icon or a title that the account should own, restore licenses. On PS5, use Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses. On PS4, use Settings > Account Management > Restore Licenses. License restoration can correct a recognition problem; it cannot create an entitlement that the account never purchased.
Separate PlayStation Plus access from a purchase
If the game came from PlayStation Plus, check that the subscription is active and determine whether the title is still in the relevant catalog. A catalog game can stop launching or downloading when the subscription expires or the catalog changes. That situation is not evidence that a completed one-time purchase disappeared.

Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch
What a price prompt means
Nintendo’s support guidance is explicit: Only a Nintendo Account that has purchased a game can download it at no cost.
If the eShop shows a price while you are trying to redownload, the Nintendo Account currently accessing the eShop is not the account that purchased the item. Check the purchase record and the email receipt, including the parent or guardian’s email for a child account.
Nintendo also treats an item labeled Purchased as bought by the Nintendo Account currently accessing the eShop. If no purchase record exists, another person who used the console may have supplied the game, or the title may have been accessed through a different entitlement type.
Find and load the virtual game card
- Check the HOME Menu and All Software first; the game may already be installed but not visible on the main row.
- Open Virtual Game Cards.
- Choose the user linked to the Nintendo Account that made the purchase.
- Select the title and load it on the system.
If the title does not appear, check for hidden virtual cards and whether redownload has been disabled in the eShop. If the purchase record is present but these checks do not restore the title, use Nintendo’s missing-content support guidance with the receipt and account details.
Older Nintendo systems
Nintendo’s UK support instructions describe these routes for older hardware: on Wii U, open eShop Menu > History > Your Downloads; on Nintendo 3DS or 2DS, open eShop Menu > Settings / Other > Redownloadable Software. The instructions say a previously purchased game may be downloadable again, but treat that as conditional on current service and content availability rather than as a guarantee for every title.

Steam: verify the account and payment record
In Steam, sign in to the account that made the purchase and ensure that all games are visible in the Library. Search the complete library rather than relying only on a recently played or installed filter.
Steam explains that a game can appear temporarily while a payment is being authorized and then be removed if the card transaction is declined. In that case, a valid completed purchase is required; the temporary library appearance is not proof of ownership. If the payment completed and the game remains missing, collect the receipt and contact Steam Support. Keep the focus on account identity, payment completion, and library visibility before attempting another purchase.
Xbox: do not borrow another platform’s menu path
Xbox instructions vary by console generation and account configuration. Before following menu-level directions, consult current Xbox Support for the specific console and account. Use the same underlying method: sign in to the purchasing account, verify the order record, check the owned-games library, and distinguish a purchase from subscription or shared access. Do not assume that PlayStation or Nintendo labels and paths exist on Xbox.

Diagnose the symptom before deciding the purchase is gone
| What you see | Likely explanation | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| The storefront shows a price | The signed-in account may not be the purchaser, or the title may have been accessed through sharing or a subscription | Switch to the purchasing account and compare the purchase record and receipt; check subscription status |
| The game is not in the library | Wrong account, hidden content, an uncompleted payment, or a platform-specific library filter | Search the full library, reveal hidden items, and verify transaction history |
| A lock icon appears | The platform cannot currently validate the license, or access came from a subscription or sharing arrangement | Restore licenses where supported and verify the original entitlement |
| The title appears but will not download | Service outage, outdated system software, network trouble, or insufficient storage | Check service status, update software, restart the download, test the connection, and free storage |
| The game was removed from the store | Delisting affects new sales, but redownload treatment can differ by title, platform, region, and generation | Confirm the purchase and ask the platform’s official support about that exact title |
| The game worked until a subscription changed | Catalog access ended or the subscription is inactive | Check the subscription and catalog status; do not treat catalog access as a one-time purchase |
Delisted games: sale status and redownload status are separate
A game being unavailable for new purchase does not answer whether a previous purchaser can download it again. Storefronts and publishers can apply different rules by title, platform generation, region, and account status. The official procedures reviewed for PlayStation and Nintendo do not establish one universal rule for every delisted game.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.

- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
For a delisted title, establish the account entitlement first. Then check the title in that platform’s Purchased or redownload area and ask the platform’s current official support about the specific game. Keep the game’s platform, edition, region, purchase date, and account information together. Do not generalize from another game that was delisted under different conditions.
Subscriptions, sharing, and account changes
Subscription catalogs
A subscription catalog grants access while both the subscription and the catalog listing permit it. If the subscription expires or the game leaves the catalog, the download or launch permission can end. A receipt for a subscription payment is not necessarily a receipt for a permanent game purchase.
Shared consoles and accounts
Console sharing can make a game playable from a profile that never purchased it. When that sharing arrangement changes, the secondary profile may see a lock or a price. Check the account that actually paid rather than assuming the profile that launched the game owns it.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Deleted or closed accounts
The March 2026 US PlayStation terms state that deleting or closing an account may cause loss of access to purchased content. Those terms describe a PlayStation Store purchase as a personal license to use the product, not ownership of the product itself. This is a PlayStation-specific terms statement, not a universal rule about consumer law or every digital storefront. If the original account was deleted, contact the platform before assuming that a replacement account can inherit its purchases.
When storage or networking is the real problem
If the game is listed as owned and the download begins, troubleshoot delivery separately from ownership. Confirm a stable internet connection, check the platform’s service status, install system-software updates, restart the download, and make enough internal or approved external storage available. An external drive is relevant only when the platform supports that drive and free capacity is the limiting factor. It cannot recover a missing purchase, bypass a license check, or restore a delisted title.
What to send support when the checks fail
Contact the platform’s official support when a valid receipt and the correct account still do not produce a download option. Include:
- the purchase date and order or transaction ID;
- the exact account identifier, without sending a password;
- console or computer model, platform generation, region, and system-software version;
- the game’s exact name, edition, and platform;
- the screen you reached, such as a price prompt, lock icon, missing library entry, or stalled download;
- the full error message and the troubleshooting steps already completed.
Do not repurchase until support has checked the entitlement. A second charge can complicate the record without fixing a wrong-account, license, subscription, service, or storage problem.
Quick Recap
A practical decision rule
- Receipt plus download button: download from the listed library route.
- Receipt but no button: verify the account, hidden content, license or virtual-card state, service status, and platform support guidance.
- No receipt but the game was playable: investigate subscription, sharing, free-claim, or another user’s account before calling it a purchase.
- Price shown after an apparent purchase: stop at the payment screen and resolve the account or transaction discrepancy.
- Delisted title: ask about that exact title and platform; availability cannot be inferred from the fact that another delisted game was redownloadable.
