What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Start with Steam’s dedicated Metroidvania category. On PlayStation and Switch, search for “Metroidvania” and use the broader browse or genre tools where available. On Xbox, try the same keyword, then check individual game listings. Across all four platforms, confirm console compatibility, regional availability, edition, and price on the game’s product page before buying.
Find Metroidvania games on Steam
- Open the Steam Metroidvania category. Use it as a starting pool, not a complete catalogue of every game that might fit the genre.
- Refine the results. Steam lets users browse with tags and filters; try related tags to narrow the list. Valve explains how Steam tags work, including how frequently applied tags can become featured categories.
- Check each game’s store page. Confirm that the title runs on your device and that the listed edition and price match what you want.
Steam’s tag-based discovery is useful, but tags reflect how games are classified and described on the platform. They are not a universal definition of Metroidvania, and a game’s absence from the category does not by itself show that it cannot suit your taste.

Find Metroidvania games on PlayStation
- Search the PlayStation Store for “Metroidvania.”
- Use Browse filters if you want more results. The US PlayStation Store Browse page shows platform filters, including PS4 and PS5, and broader genres such as Action and Adventure. Try those if the keyword search is too narrow.
- Open a candidate’s listing. Check that it supports your console and is available in your regional store before purchasing.
The cited Browse page is for the US store, and its visible filters do not include a dedicated Metroidvania genre. Other regional stores may present different options.
Find Metroidvania games on Nintendo Switch
- Search the eShop by keyword. Nintendo’s eShop search instructions explain how to search by keyword and refine results.
- Try “Metroidvania,” then search specific titles. A broad genre term may miss games, so search for a candidate by name if you already have one in mind.
- Refine by price range or genre where useful. Nintendo documents those broad options, but does not establish a dedicated Metroidvania filter.
- Verify the game’s listing in your regional eShop. Check Switch compatibility, edition, and price before buying.
Find Metroidvania games on Xbox
Try searching the Xbox store for “Metroidvania.” If that does not surface useful results, search for individual game titles and open their listings to verify availability for your Xbox console, region, and preferred edition.

Xbox-specific category and filter details are not established here, so treat the keyword search as a practical starting point rather than a guaranteed store feature or exact navigation path.
How to tell whether a search result is right for you
A store result is a lead, not a purchase check. Before buying, review the game’s own product page for the details that matter:

- Lightweight, Classic fit, Double-needle sleeve and bottom hem
- Platform: Make sure the listing supports your particular console or device. A game appearing in a search does not guarantee compatibility with the hardware you own.
- Region: Confirm that the game is offered by your local storefront. Store pages and availability can vary by country or region.
- Edition: Check whether the listing is for the base game, a bundle, or another edition, and what it includes.
- Price: Read the price shown on the product page before checkout; prices and offers can change.
- Gameplay fit: If several games match, compare how much they emphasize exploration, ability-gated backtracking, combat, or difficulty. These are useful personal selection criteria, not a shared official store taxonomy.
Why the same search works differently across stores
Each storefront organizes discovery differently. Steam uses community tags and has a dedicated Metroidvania category. The cited PlayStation Browse page offers broad platform and genre filters, while Nintendo documents keyword search and broad genre refinement. Those differences explain why searching the same genre term may produce different results across platforms.

Valve’s historical explanation of Steam store browsing describes entry points such as genre, theme, and player mode, and gives Metroidvania as a genre example. It is useful context, not a guarantee of today’s exact interface.
