How to Find Lost Galaxy Buds with Samsung’s Earbud Tracking Tools

Yes. Samsung has built-in finding tools for supported Galaxy Buds. You can start with SmartThings Find, Samsung Find, or the Galaxy Wearable app’s Find My Earbuds entry point. Depending on the model, phone software, battery state and Bluetooth connection, you may see a map location, search nearby, refresh the location, navigate to the earbuds, or make them ring.

What “Find My Earbuds” means on Samsung phones

Samsung does not use one universal app name for every Galaxy phone and software version. The same basic capability is presented through several Samsung services:

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

  • SmartThings Find: Samsung’s device-finding service can show supported Galaxy Buds on a map and provide actions such as searching nearby or ringing them.
  • Samsung Find: On phones and in regions where it is available, this app can display registered Buds and let you select the left or right earbud.
  • Galaxy Wearable: The app can provide a Find My Earbuds shortcut for paired Buds. The exact menu placement depends on the Buds model and the app version.
  • SmartThings Find on the web: Samsung US documents a web route as another way to access the finding service when you cannot use the phone that was paired with the earbuds.

Samsung US describes the purpose plainly: “If your Galaxy Buds have gone missing, you can easily locate them using SmartThings Find or Samsung Find.” That is a statement about the availability of the service, not a promise that every lost pair will produce a current location. Battery, connection, model and software conditions determine what the service can actually do.

This is a regional Samsung support list, so it should not be read as a guarantee that every feature appears on every phone. Samsung says menu paths and app availability can change with the device, software version and app version. If your model is not shown, check Samsung’s support instructions for your country and the current software on your phone.

What you need before trying to locate the Buds

Finding works best when the earbuds were already paired with your Samsung account and phone. Check these conditions before assuming the service has failed:

  • The earbuds and, where relevant, their charging case must have remaining battery. If both earbuds and the case are completely depleted, Samsung says the earbuds cannot be located.
  • For a sound alert, the earbuds must be connected to the phone by Bluetooth. A map entry may still show a last or available location, but ringing is not available without that Bluetooth connection.
  • Install or open the Samsung app route available on your phone: SmartThings, Samsung Find or Galaxy Wearable. The names and locations of controls can differ between versions.
  • Keep the phone’s account and network connection working while you search. A location that has not refreshed should be treated as old rather than as proof that the Buds are still there.

The case itself is a special limitation. Samsung says that if only the charging case is lost, its location cannot be checked separately. The finding tools are intended to locate the earbuds, not to turn the case into an independently trackable object.

How to find Galaxy Buds from a Samsung phone

Method 1: Start in Galaxy Wearable

  1. Open Galaxy Wearable on the phone that has been used with the Buds.
  2. Select the relevant Galaxy Buds if more than one wearable is listed.
  3. Choose Find My Earbuds. Depending on the software, this may open SmartThings Find or Samsung Find rather than displaying the map inside Galaxy Wearable itself.
  4. Review the map and the last available device information. If the screen offers Search nearby or Refresh, use it while moving around the place where you think the Buds are.
  5. If the earbuds appear close enough and connected by Bluetooth, select the ringing control. Follow the sound instead of relying only on the map.

Galaxy Wearable is often the quickest starting point because it already knows which Buds were paired. If the shortcut is missing, that does not by itself prove the earbuds are unsupported; it can indicate a different app version, phone software or regional arrangement. Open SmartThings or Samsung Find directly.

Method 2: Use SmartThings Find

  1. Open SmartThings and go to the finding feature, usually labeled SmartThings Find. On some phones the finding service may open as a separate Samsung app.
  2. Choose your Galaxy Buds from the device list.
  3. Check the map position. Select Refresh when you have moved to a likely area or want to check whether a newer location is available.
  4. Use Search nearby when the option appears. Walk slowly through rooms, furniture areas, bags or other places where the earbuds could be hidden.
  5. Choose Ring when the earbuds are connected over Bluetooth and you need an audible alert. The SmartThings Find web instructions also describe a Ring control that makes the Buds beep.
  6. Use other displayed controls, such as navigation, Lost mode, left-behind notifications or location sharing, only when those controls appear for your model and software.

Do not expect every control to appear together. Samsung’s instructions describe the options as dependent on the route and model. A phone may show a map but not nearby search, or show a device-management option without a current Bluetooth connection.

Method 3: Open Samsung Find

  1. Launch Samsung Find and open the device list or map.
  2. Select the Galaxy Buds entry. Samsung’s regional instructions allow you to select the left or right earbud, which is useful when only one piece is missing.
  3. Read the map position and use Refresh or nearby search if those actions are offered.
  4. If Bluetooth reconnects, use Ring to make the selected earbud or Buds set beep. Keep the volume and surroundings in mind so that a quiet beep is not mistaken for a failed search.

Method 4: Use SmartThings Find on the web

Samsung US documents access to SmartThings Find through its website. Sign in with the Samsung account associated with the Buds, select the earbuds from the available devices and use the map or controls shown there. The web interface can be useful when the paired phone is unavailable, but it does not remove the same battery, model and connection limits. In particular, a web page cannot make earbuds ring if the Buds and phone are not connected by Bluetooth.

What each finding action can and cannot tell you

Action Useful for Limit to remember
Map location Seeing where Samsung has a location for the Buds. The available location may not be current; the service does not promise a recovery or accuracy rate.
Refresh Requesting an updated view after moving or checking again. A refresh cannot create a location when the Buds have no usable battery or connection.
Search nearby Checking a smaller area such as a room, desk, car or bag. Some models do not support nearby search while the earbuds are inside the charging case.
Ring Following a beep when the earbuds are close and connected. Bluetooth connection is required; it is not an offline alarm.
Navigate Getting directions toward a displayed map position when the control is offered. Navigation availability depends on the app route and software.
Lost mode Applying the loss state offered by Samsung for a supported device. It may not appear for every Buds model or account configuration.
Notify when left behind Receiving an alert in configurations that support the feature. This is a prevention feature for future separation, not a guarantee of recovery after a loss.
Share location Passing the device location to another person when Samsung presents that option. Availability and sharing controls vary by software and account settings.

Why Samsung may not find the earbuds

The battery is fully depleted

When both the earbuds and charging case batteries are completely empty, Samsung says the earbuds cannot be located. There is no setting that can revive a dead device remotely. Search again if you later recover the case and recharge it, but do not interpret an empty result as evidence that the Buds are permanently gone.

Only the case is missing

The charging case cannot be checked as a separate lost device according to Samsung’s support guidance. If the earbuds are with you and the case is elsewhere, SmartThings Find or Samsung Find is not a case tracker. Search the last place you used or charged the case instead.

The earbuds are inside the case

Some Galaxy Buds models do not support nearby search while the earbuds are inside their charging case. A map entry can therefore coexist with no nearby-search result. Open the case when it is safe to do so, allow the earbuds to reconnect, and try the available controls again.

Bluetooth is disconnected

Ringing requires a Bluetooth connection between the phone and earbuds. Move toward the displayed location, open the case if appropriate and wait for a connection before trying Ring. If the control remains unavailable, use the map and nearby-search options that the app provides rather than expecting an audible alert.

The app route or menu is different

Samsung explicitly notes that menu paths vary by device, software and app version. Look for the same function under SmartThings Find, Samsung Find and Galaxy Wearable instead of repeatedly searching one menu. A regional support page may list a model while your phone’s current software presents the feature in a different app.

A practical search plan

Use this order when you need to act quickly:

  1. Open Galaxy Wearable and try Find My Earbuds.
  2. If the shortcut is unavailable, open SmartThings Find or Samsung Find and select the Buds.
  3. Read the map, then choose Refresh before leaving the area shown.
  4. When offered, run Search nearby and check the left and right earbuds separately.
  5. Try Ring only after Bluetooth connects; listen in a quiet environment and check soft furniture, pockets, bags and the charging area.
  6. If the case alone is missing, stop treating the map as a case locator and retrace where you last charged or stored it.
  7. If the battery is empty, continue a physical search because the software cannot provide a new location.

These steps separate what the apps can establish from what requires a physical search. A displayed map position helps narrow the area, while a connected ring is the strongest immediate confirmation that the earbuds are nearby.

What to expect from Samsung’s feature

Samsung does have a “Find My Earbuds” solution, but it is better understood as a set of connected finding tools than as a guarantee that every pair can be tracked continuously. Supported Galaxy Buds can appear in SmartThings Find or Samsung Find, and Galaxy Wearable can lead you there. Map viewing, refresh, nearby search, ringing and other controls are conditional. A dead battery, a case-only loss, a model that cannot search while closed, or a missing Bluetooth connection can remove the option you need.

Before relying on a particular button, confirm the Buds model, the phone’s software and which Samsung app is installed. Then use the map to narrow the search, nearby search to work a smaller area, and ringing only when Bluetooth has reconnected.
