Before entering, confirm the size, payment method, deadlines, location and pickup terms. If a message says you won, verify it through the retailer’s official app or contact details you find yourself—never pay a surprise fee to claim a prize.
Where to find legitimate retail releases
Begin with the brand that makes the shoe. Check its official release calendar or app for the launch date, sizes, entry window and any purchase instructions. Then check established retailers that serve your area: their own release calendars and raffle pages are the authoritative place to learn how their entries work.

Do not assume a retailer’s schedule or rules apply to another shop. Nike’s US SNKRS Help describes one process for Nike draws; DTLR’s FAQ describes that retailer’s US process. Rules can also differ by country, product and promotion, so use the terms shown for the specific release you want.
Use alerts as reminders, not an advantage guarantee
On Nike’s US SNKRS app, upcoming draws appear in the “Upcoming” feed. Members who enable notifications can receive a push alert when a draw opens. Nike says demand often exceeds supply and that its anti-bot screening does not create a guaranteed path to selection. Its fairness page says Exclusive Access is an opportunity to purchase, not a reserved pair in a particular size; Nike says there is no checklist that guarantees access. Prepare carefully, but do not trust anyone selling a supposed winning method.

How sneaker raffles and draws work
A draw usually collects entries during a limited window and selects entrants under that release’s rules. A win may mean permission to complete a purchase, not that a confirmed order already exists. Other releases may sell pairs first-come, first-served online or in a store. Read the official listing to establish which kind of release you are entering.
Nike SNKRS draws: the US Help process
- Join as a Nike Member and open the SNKRS app’s “Upcoming” feed to find a listed draw. Turn on notifications if you want an alert when the entry window opens.
- During the limited entry period, open the product page, check its countdown, select the shoe and size, and submit one entry for that draw. Nike says a size cannot be changed after submission and a member may enter only once per individual draw.
- Keep your payment details current. Nike says it may pre-authorize the payment method and charges the card only if you are selected.
- Check for Nike’s result and purchase details. Nike says selected entrants receive purchase details and an order confirmation within 24 hours after the countdown ends; unsuccessful entrants are also notified.
Those are the US Nike Help page’s stated mechanics, not universal draw rules. Follow the current instructions and terms displayed for your country and release.

Retailer raffles: DTLR as one US example
DTLR says some high-demand releases are available exclusively through digital raffles in its mobile app. Its FAQ says raffles typically open five days before release and usually close two days before release, but delays can change the schedule. Check DTLR’s release calendar and the specific raffle rather than planning around those typical timings as a promise.

DTLR tells participants to check email, SMS and spam folders for results. Its FAQ says a win is non-transferable and the winner must show ID at pickup. It also says an order is not confirmed until shipment confirmation. Those are DTLR-specific terms; a retailer that ships, uses another app or runs a different draw may handle winning and fulfillment differently.

What to check before you enter
Read the release terms before submitting an entry or payment details. A few minutes spent checking the conditions can prevent a missed pickup, an unwanted size or a mistaken assumption that you already own the pair.
- Size and edits: Confirm the size before entry and whether it can be changed later. Nike says SNKRS draw entries cannot be edited for size after submission.
- What winning means: Find out whether selection gives you a limited-time opportunity to buy, confirms an order, or requires another step. Check what counts as an order confirmation.
- Payment: Confirm which payment methods are accepted and when a charge or authorization may occur. Nike says its card is charged only if the entrant is selected, but other retailers may set different terms.
- Deadlines: Note the entry closing time, any payment deadline after a win, and the pickup window if the release is local.
- Location and pickup: Check geographic eligibility, which store or delivery area applies, what identification is required, and whether someone else can collect the shoes.
- Cancellation and transfer: Check whether a winning entry can be transferred or canceled. DTLR says its raffle wins are non-transferable; do not assume that rule applies elsewhere.
- Alerts and results: Identify the official channel for results and any restock notices. Check the app or site directly as well as email or text.
How to check whether a “you won” message is a scam
A genuine-looking logo, familiar retailer name or urgent countdown does not prove a message is real. The Federal Trade Commission’s general prize-scam advice is direct: “If you have to pay to get your prize, it’s a scam.” The FTC also warns that impostors may mimic recognized organizations, seek personal information through messages or social posts, and pressure people to act immediately.

- Do not follow the message link first. Open the brand or retailer app yourself, or type in the official website address you already know.
- Check whether the release and result appear on the official channel. Compare the message with the rules and entry details shown for that specific release.
- Look for warning signs. Treat a surprise claim fee, a charge to improve your odds, pressure to act immediately, or a request for sensitive personal or financial details through a message link as a reason to stop.
- Verify independently. Find the retailer’s contact information on its official site and ask whether the message and claimed win are genuine. Do not use a phone number or link supplied only in the suspicious message.
- If you already clicked or shared information, contact the retailer through independently found details and your payment provider if financial information was involved. Use your local consumer-protection authority for reporting advice; the FTC guidance applies to US consumers.
These are general prize-scam warning signs applied to sneaker releases; they do not establish how common sneaker-specific scams are.

First check the brand’s and retailers’ official release pages, apps and notifications for a restock or newly available inventory. Do not treat a possible restock as certain. DTLR says additional inventory may appear one or two days after a release, typically first-come, first-served; that timing is specific to DTLR and is not a general release pattern.

Retail-priced pairs can sometimes reappear after launch, but there is no guarantee. A December 16, 2024 SNKRDUNK Magazine article says sneakers sometimes return to retail prices days or months after release. Use that as a possibility, not a timetable or assurance, and prioritize official retailer updates.
If you decide to buy outside an official retail channel, pause to verify the seller and the transaction terms directly on the marketplace. Confirm the exact model and size, condition, total price, return terms and any buyer-protection terms. Do not assume every marketplace listing is authenticated or protected.
