How to Find Kansas State Park Entrance and Camping Fees Before You Go

Start with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) Kansas State Park Entrance and Camping Fees page. It lists vehicle permits separately from camping, utility, and prime-site charges. Check the date on the fee table before budgeting: the annual permit prices shown there are labeled 2025, so they are not confirmed 2026 rates.

Where to check Kansas state park fees

Use KDWP’s official fee page for vehicle entry and camping charges. For campsite or cabin availability, use KDWP’s reservation information and check the listing for the park you plan to visit. Confirm the current fees for your trip year on KDWP’s live information before relying on a specific amount.

The following are reference amounts displayed in KDWP materials surfaced for this article. The annual vehicle and camping permit prices on the fee page are marked 2025; KDWP’s dated announcement says those annual permits covered 2025. These figures are not confirmed 2026 prices.

Do you need to pay a vehicle fee to enter?

Yes. KDWP says a valid State Park Vehicle Permit is required at all Kansas State Parks. The permit is charged per vehicle entering the park, not per person in the vehicle. If more than one vehicle is coming, check the permit requirements for each vehicle.

Daily, annual, or Passport

  • For a single visit, check the daily permit price and purchase method for the park. KDWP says daily permits are available at the specific park office.
  • For repeat visits, compare the current annual permit price with the total cost of daily permits for the vehicles you will use.
  • The Kansas State Parks Passport is a registration-linked option for Kansas vehicle owners, available as part of the vehicle registration process. It expires with that registration.

Check KDWP’s fee page and permit information for the current price and purchase details before traveling.

Does a campsite reservation include park entry?

No. KDWP’s reservation terms say the reservation covers the campsite; vehicle permits are sold separately. An overnight stay also requires a camping permit. Add any applicable utility or designated prime-site charge to the camping cost, and account for the listed processing fee per stay.

How to check the total before an overnight trip

  1. Confirm the trip-year rates. Open KDWP’s entrance and camping fee page and check whether the displayed annual prices apply to your travel year.
  2. Choose the vehicle permit. Work out whether you need a daily permit, annual permit, or eligible Kansas registration-linked Passport for each vehicle entering.
  3. Price the camping unit. Select the camping permit that applies to your stay, then check whether your site has utilities, is designated prime, or is overflow.
  4. Add the stay fee. Include the camping processing fee shown by KDWP for each stay.
  5. Check the park listing and reservation terms. Rates and availability can depend on the park, site, and dates. Cabin prices vary by location, dates, and amenities.

Reservations, walk-ins, and arrival details

KDWP says campsite reservations are generally available April 1–September 30. From October 1–March 31, sites are first-come, first-served, and the reservable share varies by park. Check the particular park’s instructions if you plan to arrive without a reservation: payment may be handled at a park office or permit station, and self-pay station availability depends on the park.

KDWP’s reservation terms list campsite check-in at 2 p.m. and check-out at 2 p.m.; cabin check-in is 3 p.m. and check-out is noon. Weekend reservations require two nights, including Friday and Saturday. A reservation may be canceled if you do not arrive within 48 hours unless you make prior arrangements with the park office. Verify current terms when booking.

Payment and final checks

KDWP says state park gift cards can be redeemed online at CampItKS.com and in person at KDWP locations for vehicle permits, camping fees, and reservations. Treat this as a payment option, not as a permit discount. For exact current rates or park-specific purchase instructions, rely on KDWP’s fee page and the relevant park listing.
