Find the tournament’s official website or tour event page, open Tee Times, Pairings or Groupings, and select the correct round. Before converting a player’s start time, check the schedule’s stated time zone; do not assume it is the venue’s local time or yours.
Where to find a golfer’s tee time
- Identify the tournament and round. Start at the official tournament website or the tour’s event page, then open its Tee Times, Pairings or Groupings listing.
- Select the round and player. Tee times are round-specific, so confirm you are looking at the intended day of competition.
- Read the time-zone label. Look for a stated zone or a control such as Time Zone. If the listing shows UTC, treat the displayed time as UTC until you convert it.
- Recheck close to play. Pairings, tee times and status may be updated. Use the official listing for the latest schedule rather than relying on a copied time.
A PGA TOUR page for the 2026 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale illustrates the layout: it has a round selector, tee-time rows and a Time Zone control set to UTC. That tournament ran July 16–19, 2026, so the page is an interface example, not a current schedule. A selector on one event page does not mean every tour or tournament offers one. Choose between a time-zone selector and manual conversion
| Method | What to check | Practical limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Use the event page’s time-zone selector | Confirm the selected reader location or zone, the round and the displayed date. | Availability varies by event page; do not assume a selector exists or that its behavior is identical across tours. PGA TOUR example. |
| Convert the displayed time yourself | Establish the schedule’s source zone and the reader location’s offset on the event date, including any daylight-saving rule. | Account for date changes across midnight; a zone abbreviation alone may not establish its offset for the date. NIST UTC guidance and NIST daylight-saving guidance. |
Convert a tee time to your local time
When a schedule is in UTC, add the local UTC offset for the place where you will watch, using the offset in effect on the tournament date. For example, if your location is UTC−4 on that date, 14:00 UTC is 10:00 local time. This is an arithmetic illustration, not an actual tournament tee time. UTC does not shift for daylight saving time; local clocks may. NIST explains that Eastern Daylight Time is UTC−4, while Eastern Standard Time is UTC−5. When the schedule is in another time zone
First establish the source zone’s offset on the event date, then convert from that zone to the reader’s local zone. Do not treat abbreviations such as EST or PDT as year-round offsets: standard and daylight offsets differ, and some places do not observe daylight saving time. Check the applicable local rules for both locations. NIST Local Time FAQs.

Keep the calendar date attached
After conversion, check whether the result falls on the previous or next calendar day. This can happen when watching an international event. Record the weekday and date alongside the local time, not just the clock reading.
Check daylight-saving time for the event date
Use the jurisdiction’s rule for the tournament date rather than today’s offset. NIST’s US guidance gives March 8, 2026 at 2 a.m. local time through November 1, 2026 at 2 a.m. local time as the 2026 daylight-saving interval. Those dates apply to US guidance and should not be applied automatically to other countries or US locations with exceptions. NIST: Daylight Saving Time Rules. For US Eastern Time, NIST lists UTC−5 during standard time and UTC−4 during daylight time; these offsets are not a universal rule for other regions. NIST: Local Time FAQs.
