To connect with people for step challenges, open Together in Samsung Health, finish setup, then use Friends to scan their Samsung Health QR code or send an invitation link. Adding someone as a Together friend is separate from sharing health data with them.
Find Together and complete setup
Together is Samsung Health’s social feature for walking challenges. Samsung says it is available on Android phones. Menu labels can vary slightly by app version or region.

If prompted on your first visit, tap Get started, connect your contacts, confirm your phone number, and follow the setup prompts. Samsung says connecting contacts is required to take part in challenges and other activities.

Open Friends. If the app asks you to connect, follow its prompts; then choose QR code or Invite.
Samsung’s current US instructions describe those two options. An older Samsung Canada guide shows an Add control beside Friends, so the exact path may look different in some versions or regions.
Choose how to add someone

| Invite | Send an invitation link using email, text, or another sharing method. | When you need to invite someone remotely. |
Follow the in-app prompts to finish connecting. Samsung says you can invite someone who has not used Samsung Health before, but they will need a compatible phone and the app to use Together.

Both formats can be set up as individual or team challenges.
Manage contacts, step-count visibility, and challenges
Together setup requests access to contacts. Samsung says contacts are used to check Samsung account sign-in and create the Together friend list; the app listing also identifies camera access for scanning friend QR codes. In Together settings, Samsung’s US guide says you can adjust these controls:

Keep contacts synced: turn ongoing contact syncing on or off.

Who can see your step count: choose Anyone, Friends, or No one.

These options control Together activity; adding a friend does not by itself make your health records available to that person.

Understand the difference between Together friends and health-data sharing
Together connects people for step challenges. Health Data Sharing is a separate Samsung Health workflow for sharing health data. Samsung’s South Africa product page describes asking a friend to share data and inviting family members by email or Samsung account; availability and menu names may differ elsewhere. Check Samsung Health in your region for the applicable options. Do not assume that a Together connection shares health records.
Check phone compatibility
Samsung says Together is available on Android phones. Samsung’s Galaxy Store listing specifies Android 10.0 or later for Samsung Health. A Galaxy Watch or other accessory is not required to find or add friends; Samsung lists nearby-device access for connecting to watches and accessories.
If the option or friend-add controls look different
Samsung’s published instructions do not establish one universal recovery path for a missing Together tab or removing a manually added friend across every region and app version. Check the current Together settings and local Samsung support for guidance specific to your app. You can also compare your screen with Samsung’s regional instructions linked below; labels may not match exactly.
