What the cavern is reported to offer
The route guide presents the cavern as a stop for Astral Observatory progression. It names Quartz Glass, used to craft the Meteoric Rod, and Golden Trout, described as a high-rarity catch. It also connects cavern fishing to the Dr. Crookspine questline and Astral Observatory bestiary and telescope-lens goals. These are reported activities, not a complete or independently confirmed catch-and-reward table.

For that reason, use the cavern as a farming route for the named materials, catch, or progression goals, but do not assume every visit guarantees a particular catch or reward. The guide does not give probabilities or a full list of cavern-specific catches. NerdsChalk’s Astral Cavern guide
Which fish list applies: the cavern or the canal?
The Fisch Wiki’s Cryogenic Canal reference, updated September 25, 2026, lists the following fish for the wider canal. It does not establish that every fish on the list can be caught specifically inside the hidden Astral Cavern. Conditions below are those listed for Cryogenic Canal. Fisch Wiki: Cryogenic Canal

The same wiki describes several Mythical fish in the ordinary canal and recommends rods with mutation passives, including Trident Rod, Mythical Rod, and Heaven’s Rod. That is the wiki’s gameplay recommendation, not a tested result or a cavern-specific guarantee. Fisch Wiki: Cryogenic Canal
Plan for the Northern Expedition climb
You must first reach Cryogenic Canal, the third location in the Northern Expedition. The mountain route has oxygen and temperature hazards; the Northern Expedition reference says both can decrease along parts of the climb, and running out causes death and a respawn at the last spawn point. It lists oxygen tanks and a Winter Cloak as ways to manage those hazards. The Astral Cavern route guide does not say that a particular tank or item is required to enter the cavern itself. The canal is one of four fishing areas on the mountain, alongside Glacial Grotto, Overgrowth Caves, and Frigid Cavern. The Northern Expedition reference also notes a vault in the canal related to Heaven’s Rod; that is separate expedition progression, not a reward of the Astral Cavern. Fisch Wiki: Northern Expedition
