Are there cheats in Life Is Strange: True Colors?
We couldn’t verify conventional cheat codes or a cheat menu in the sources available for this guide. That does not establish that no platform-specific code or exploit exists, so avoid relying on unverified cheat lists. The game is a narrative adventure built around Alex Chen’s supernatural empathy, exploration, relationships and choices—not a conventional action game with a documented code system. Square Enix’s game overview and its North American store listing describe Alex’s ability to experience and manipulate other people’s strong emotions.

What are the secrets in True Colors?
The most useful optional content to seek out is the game’s Memories and Side Quests. PowerPyx reports 29 collectible locations: 25 Memories and four Side Quests (PowerPyx, 2021). This is a guide’s count, not a publisher-issued statistic. PowerPyx’s all-collectibles guide organizes the locations across the five chapters.

Explore each scene and use Alex’s empathy power to focus on objects carrying a collectible aura. The collectible is attached to an object in the environment, so look around rather than expecting a code prompt or a separate inventory hunt. A scene-by-scene locations guide can help identify what you have missed.
#1 Best Overall
- The truth will hurt - Discover the shocking secrets behind your brother's death in an emotional roller-coaster of an adventure
- Feel everything - change fate and change lives with the psychic power of empathy

Look for Side Quests as you explore
Side Quests are optional activities counted among the 29 locations in PowerPyx’s guide. Talk to people and inspect the spaces you visit; completing the side activities is a practical way to see more of Haven Springs beyond the main story.
How do you find all the memories?
- Explore the current scene. Check accessible areas and objects rather than rushing directly to the next story interaction.
- Focus on objects with Alex’s empathy power. Look for the collectible aura and interact with the associated object.
- Use a chapter-by-chapter locations guide if needed. PowerPyx lists the Memory and Side Quest locations by chapter and scene.
- Check scene selection after completing a chapter. If a collectible is missing, identify the scene that still has an item and revisit it.
Choice timing is separate from collectible hunting. TrueAchievements describes major choices as pausing for a selection and minor choices as timed; silence can be an option for minor decisions. If you want more time to consider a timed choice, Square Enix Support documents an accessibility setting that increases Choice Timer duration: Square Enix Support: Choice Timer duration.

- A bold new era of the award-winning Life is Strange begins, with an all-new playable lead character and a thrilling mystery to solve! Alex Chen has long suppressed her 'curse': the supernatural ability to experience, absorb and manipulate the strong emotions of others, which she sees as blazing, colored auras. When her brother dies in a so-called accident, Alex must embrace her volatile power to find the truth – and uncover the dark secrets buried by a small town.
- THE TRUTH WILL HURT: Discover the shocking secrets behind your brother’s death in an emotional roller-coaster of an adventure.

Can you go back for missed collectibles?
Yes. PowerPyx says collectibles are not missable: finish the chapter, then use chapter or scene selection to revisit the relevant scene. The guide also says story choices do not affect collectible availability, so you do not need to restart the whole story just to recover an item. See the location guide for the scene breakdown.
One guide-reported trophy caveat is that Haven Historian requires being online so the game can upload choices, according to PowerPyx’s trophy guide. Treat that as a platform trophy note from the guide, not a guarantee about every achievement on every platform.

Which DirectX option should you use on PC?
For the Steam PC launch choice described by Square Enix Support, DirectX 11 is the stated default recommendation; DirectX 12 adds ray tracing. The support article says saves are shared between the two executables, so choosing one does not require maintaining a separate save. This comparison applies to the Steam PC executables covered by that support answer.
| Executable | What the support article says | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| DirectX 11 | Square Enix’s stated default recommendation | Use the recommended default if you do not specifically need DirectX 12 ray tracing. |
| DirectX 12 | Enables ray tracing; saves are shared between executables | Choose it if you want the ray-tracing option and your PC supports it. |
See Square Enix Support’s DirectX launch-option guidance for the PC-specific details.
What can you play after the main story?
Square Enix lists Life Is Strange: Wavelengths, a DLC story starring Steph in the year before Alex arrives in Haven Springs. The official game page is the reference for this additional story.
