Where Google Ads puts billing information
Google Ads separates records of what has happened from controls that determine how the account pays. The Billing Activity area records charges, payments and other account-level events. The Settings area contains payment methods, payer details and controls related to the account’s billing arrangement.

Google Ads Help describes this area as follows: “By selecting the gear icon and choosing Billing, you can view your transaction history, settings, payment methods, and billing profile information.” The exact page layout can change, so a label may appear in a slightly different position than described below.
Find payment activity on the desktop website
1. Sign in to the correct Google Ads account
Go to Google Ads and sign in with the Google account that has access to the customer account you need to inspect. If you manage several accounts, confirm the account name or customer ID before opening billing. Billing records belong to the selected advertising account; opening the wrong account can make a correct payment appear to be missing.

2. Open Billing
Open the account menu and select Billing. Depending on the current interface, Billing may be reached from the gear icon or another account-navigation control. The Billing area is the starting point for transaction history, payment methods, billing-profile information and other billing controls.
3. Select Billing Activity
Within Billing, choose or locate Billing Activity. This is the desktop view for the account’s payment activity. Review the entries shown there to identify charges, payments and adjustments recorded against the account. If the page uses a different arrangement, look for the Billing section that contains activity or transaction history; Google periodically changes navigation labels and placement.
4. Interpret the record as an account-level history
Billing Activity is not the same as the card or bank account saved on file. It is a history for the Google Ads account. Use it when you need to determine what the account was charged, when a payment was recorded or how the account balance changed. Use Settings instead when you need to change the way the account pays.

Open Billing, then Settings
From the same account-level Billing area, select Settings. This page contains the payment method and payer-information controls that are available to your account and payment profile.

Review or manage payment methods
Look for Payment methods to see the card, bank account or other instrument available for billing. Google documents adding, editing and removing payment methods from this area.
A changed card or bank-account number must be added as a new payment method. You cannot simply overwrite the number on the existing method. Add the replacement first, confirm that it is available to the account, and then remove the old method if Google allows removal.
Before removing a method, check whether another usable method is already present. Google may require a replacement method before the old one can be deleted, particularly when the account still has an outstanding obligation or relies on automatic charging.
Review payer details
The Payer details section contains editable information associated with the payer and billing profile. Review it when the legal or billing information displayed on documents needs to be corrected. Not every field is editable in every account.

Understand payment-profile access
Some billing-profile actions are governed by Google Payments rather than only by the Google Ads account. Your Google account may be able to view campaign information while lacking permission to change payer details or payment methods. Certain actions require an account role with Admin or Billing access, and payment-profile permissions may need to be managed in Google Payments.
View the balance and transaction history in the mobile app
Open Billing
- Open the Google Ads mobile app and select More in the bottom navigation.
- Select Billing.
- Read the account balance shown at the top of the Billing screen.
Open Transactions
Transactions appears at the top of the Billing screen. Select it to view the mobile transaction history. This is the app’s route to payment activity; it is separate from the payment method controls.
Reach payment settings in the app
To look for payment methods in the mobile app, open Settings within Billing. The available controls can differ from the desktop view, so use the desktop Billing area when an account-level or payment-profile action is not exposed in the app.

- Billing Activity or Transactions: account-level records of payments, charges and related activity.
- Payment method: the instrument used to pay, such as a card or bank account.
- Payment setting: the billing arrangement that determines when money is supplied or collected.
- Payer details: identifying and billing-profile information associated with the payer.
Knowing which item you need prevents a common mistake: opening payment settings when you really need a historical transaction, or searching transaction history when you need to replace an expired card.
Google Ads payment arrangements compared
The arrangement offered to an account depends on its address, currency, eligibility and other account conditions. The following comparison explains the timing of payment without implying that every account can select every option.

The method shown in your own Billing settings is the authoritative list for your account. A payment option described in general Google Ads documentation may not appear if your business address, currency, payment profile or eligibility does not support it.
Why your Billing page may look different
Google Ads does not present identical billing controls to every advertiser. Options can change according to:
- the business address or country associated with the account;
- the account currency;
- the selected payment setting, such as postpay or prepay;
- the account’s eligibility for a payment method or monthly invoicing;
- the permissions assigned to your Google Ads account and Google Payments profile; and
- temporary unavailability of a particular payment option.
For that reason, do not infer that an absent method is an error solely because another advertiser can see it. Check the controls that Google presents after you open Billing for the specific account.
Troubleshoot missing billing controls
Billing is not visible
First verify that you opened the intended customer account and that you are signed in with the correct Google account. If Billing still does not appear, your account may not have the required access, or the account may be managed through a payment profile to which you have not been granted permission.
Billing Activity or Transactions is not where expected
On desktop, start at Billing and look for Billing Activity. In the app, use More > Billing > Transactions. Google can rearrange the page, so look for the activity or transaction-history label rather than relying on a particular screen position.

Check your account and payments-profile permissions. Some changes require Admin or Billing access. If you are replacing a card or bank account, add the new method first; Google requires a new entry when the number changes and may require a usable replacement before the old method can be removed.
Payer details are read-only
Payer information may be controlled by the Google Payments profile. Ask a user with the appropriate payments-profile permission to make the change, or review the permissions associated with the account. Having access to campaign management does not necessarily grant authority to edit billing-profile information.
A payment option described elsewhere is absent
Compare the account’s country, currency and current payment setting with the eligibility requirements shown in Google Ads. Options can also be temporarily unavailable. Use the choices actually displayed in Billing rather than attempting to force an unsupported method.
A practical billing check before contacting support
- Confirm the customer account name or ID.
- Open Billing and note whether you need activity, a payment method or payer details.
- For a historical charge or payment, open Billing Activity on desktop or Transactions in the app.
- For the saved card or bank account, open Settings > Payment methods.
- For billing-profile information, open Payer details and check whether the field is editable.
- If a control is missing, verify account and Google Payments permissions before assuming that the feature is unavailable.
- If replacing a payment method, add the replacement before attempting to remove the old one.
This sequence separates an account-history question from a payment-configuration question and identifies the most common access issue before any billing change is attempted.
