The most reliable workflow is to use Nintendo eShop on your Switch (or the Nintendo UK eShop website) to discover games, then use the Nintendo Store app’s Wish List when the item is represented there. Treat those as separate tools: Nintendo documents sale notifications for Wish List items in its US app, but does not say that every digital Nintendo eShop game listing is covered. Always verify the live price and regional availability on the eShop or the individual game page before buying.
Which Nintendo tool should you use?
Nintendo provides two official routes, and they solve different parts of the problem. The eShop is the discovery and purchasing environment for digital games, while the Nintendo Store app is a product-saving tool with documented sale alerts. Nintendo does not state that the two wish lists synchronize, so do not assume that saving a product in one place will make it appear in the other.

Use the eShop to build your candidate list. Use the app Wish List only for products that actually appear in that app, and describe any alert as an alert for a Wish List item rather than a guaranteed digital-game discount notification.

Find games in Nintendo eShop categories
Nintendo UK’s eShop guide, dated June 11, 2026, identifies several useful entry points. On Switch 2 or Switch, open Nintendo eShop and browse the sections available in your account’s region. The same UK guidance points to the Nintendo website for web browsing. Storefront names, catalog entries, prices and promotions can vary by country, so select your own regional storefront before treating a result as available to you.

Recent releases
Start here when you want to see newly added games rather than search for a particular title. A recent-release list is useful for discovering games you would not find through a familiar franchise search. Open each game page to check its edition, supported system and current price before saving it elsewhere.
Top deals
This is the fastest official way to see active discounts in the storefront. A deal list is time-sensitive: it can change while you are browsing, and a sale shown in one country may not exist in another. Record the game name and the date you noticed the deal if you are deciding whether to buy later, then recheck the live game page at checkout.
Free games and apps
Use this category when the price is the deciding factor or when you want to try something without purchasing a paid title. “Free” is a storefront label, not a promise that every related add-on or optional content item is free, so inspect the individual listing.
Free demos
A demo can answer practical questions that a description cannot, such as whether the controls, camera or performance suit you. Availability is title- and region-dependent. If a demo is listed, install it from the game’s regional eShop page and keep the full game on your candidate list until you have decided.
DLC
The DLC category is useful when you already own a game and are looking for expansions or add-on content. Check compatibility with the exact base game and region shown on the listing; do not assume that a DLC offer applies to every edition.
Build a personal “buy later” list without losing titles
Nintendo’s cited eShop material does not document a universal, cross-region eShop wishlist. You can still create a dependable process by combining the storefront’s game pages with the Nintendo Store app where appropriate.
When the Nintendo Store app is a good fit
Nintendo of America’s app page says that tapping the heart icon saves a product to the app’s Wish List. It also says: “You can even receive notifications when items on your Wish List go on sale!” This is the clearest official notification feature in the supplied information. Use it for products that are present in the app and that you are comfortable treating as Nintendo Store products.

What the app page does not prove
The app description covers games along with hardware and merchandise, but it does not clarify whether the sale notifications apply to digital Nintendo eShop game listings specifically. Therefore, do not promise that adding a game to the app will monitor its eShop price, and do not describe the app as a complete replacement for checking eShop game pages.
A simple record for titles the app does not cover
For a game that is visible in eShop but not clearly represented in the app, keep a short personal list containing the exact title, the region, the system version (Switch or Switch 2 where relevant), the regular price shown on the page and the date checked. This is a reminder system, not an official Nintendo alert. When you are ready to purchase, open the current regional eShop page again rather than relying on the old entry.
How to get notified when a Nintendo Switch game you want goes on sale
- Open the Nintendo Store app covered by Nintendo of America’s US documentation. Availability and labels can differ outside the United States.
- Find the product listing. Confirm that it is the product you mean; games, hardware and merchandise can all appear in the app.
- Tap the heart icon. The product is added to the app’s Wish List according to Nintendo’s instructions.
- Allow app notifications on your device. The cited Nintendo wording describes notifications, but it does not specify your phone’s permission path or guarantee delivery when operating-system notifications are disabled.
- Read the alert as a product-sale signal. Nintendo says Wish List items can trigger a sale notification. The statement does not establish that the discounted item is a digital eShop listing, that every region receives the same alert, or that every sale is included.
- Open the current regional store page before paying. Check the live price, edition, currency, supported system and any conditions shown at that moment.
If the title cannot be found in the app, keep it on your own reminder list and monitor the appropriate eShop category or game page. Do not add a different product merely because its name is similar.
Check the live price instead of trusting an old deal
Nintendo UK explicitly advises: “Please check Nintendo eShop or visit the gamepages to get the latest pricing information.” That instruction matters because prices and offers change, and a promotion can end without your personal notes being updated.

Buying from the Nintendo UK website and downloading to a console
The following setup details come from Nintendo UK and should not be generalized to every country. If you are outside the United Kingdom, consult the support instructions attached to your own regional storefront.
Account and console registration
- Use a Nintendo Account linked to the console. Nintendo UK lists this as a requirement for website purchases intended for the console.
- Register the console as the active console for downloads. Nintendo UK’s instructions say to do this by visiting Nintendo eShop on that device before using the website purchase flow.
- Complete the purchase on the regional website or in eShop. Keep the account region consistent with the storefront and payment details shown.
Automatic download requirements
For automatic downloads, Nintendo UK lists an updated, internet-connected system, automatic downloads enabled and enough available storage. If any one of those conditions is missing, a purchase may not download automatically even though the transaction succeeded.

- Install the latest system update offered to your console.
- Connect the console to the internet and leave that connection available.

- Check free storage before purchasing a large game or bundle.
These are UK instructions, not a universal statement about every regional website or every console configuration. A different storefront may present different account, payment or download requirements.

Regional differences are the most common reason a seemingly correct game recommendation fails at checkout. Nintendo’s UK category page and Nintendo of America’s app page describe different services for different markets. Neither source establishes feature parity between them.
- Region: A game, sale or app feature listed for the UK or United States may not appear in your country.
- Currency: A price copied from another storefront is not a price you can assume for your account.
- System: Check whether the listing is for Switch, Switch 2, or content that requires a particular system.
- Product type: Distinguish a digital game from DLC, a bundle, a physical product or merchandise.
- Wishlist location: Saving a product in the Nintendo Store app does not establish that it is saved in Nintendo eShop, and no automatic synchronization is documented here.
When sharing a recommendation with someone in another country, give the title and the storefront region rather than presenting your own price or sale end date as universal.
Use an eShop Card only after choosing the game
Nintendo’s official printable wish list identifies Nintendo eShop Cards as a gift option. An eShop Card can therefore be a way to fund a digital purchase after you have selected a game, but it is not a discovery tool and it does not track prices or send sale alerts.
Before buying or giving a card, verify the recipient’s country and account region, the card’s denomination and the retailer’s current terms. The supplied official material supports the card’s relevance as a funding route, but it does not establish current stock, regional compatibility for every card, or any retailer affiliation. Do not buy a card as a substitute for checking whether the desired game is available in the recipient’s storefront.
Troubleshoot a missing game, sale or notification
The game is not in the Nintendo Store app
Search the regional eShop directly and add the title to your personal reminder list. The app page does not promise coverage of every digital eShop listing, so absence from the app is not evidence that the game is unavailable.
A Wish List alert did not arrive
Confirm that the product was saved with the heart icon, that the device allows notifications for the app and that you are using the service region described by Nintendo. Then open the current game or product page manually. Nintendo’s wording says notifications can be received; it does not guarantee a notification for every sale or explain all device-level delivery failures.

The price is different from your note
Use the live eShop or game page as the authority. Your note may reflect an expired promotion, another region, another edition or an earlier price.
The website purchase does not download
For the UK workflow, check the linked Nintendo Account, active-console registration, system update, internet connection, automatic-download setting and available storage. If you are using another region, follow that storefront’s support instructions instead of assuming the UK sequence applies.
A DLC listing looks wrong
Return to the base game’s regional page and verify the exact add-on, edition and system. A DLC category contains add-on content, not necessarily a complete game, and compatibility should be confirmed before payment.
A repeatable tracking routine
- Discover: Browse Recent Releases, Top Deals, Free Games and Apps, Free Demos or DLC in your regional eShop.
- Qualify: Open the game page and record the exact title, product type, system and region.
- Save: Tap the heart in the Nintendo Store app only when the product is actually listed there; otherwise keep a personal reminder.
- Wait intelligently: Use a documented app alert when available, but do not assume it monitors every digital eShop game.
- Verify: Reopen the current regional eShop or game page for the latest price and availability.
- Prepare: Check account linkage, active-console status, internet, updates, automatic downloads and storage for the UK website workflow.
- Buy: Purchase the precise edition you checked, or use a region-appropriate eShop Card as funding after the choice is made.
This separation keeps discovery, tracking and purchasing honest: the eShop supplies the catalog and current transaction details, while the app can provide a Wish List and sale notifications for products covered by its own documentation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I put every Nintendo eShop game on a Nintendo Store app wishlist?
Nintendo’s US app description documents a Wish List for products saved with the heart icon, but it does not say that every digital Nintendo eShop game is included. Use the eShop page and a personal reminder for titles that do not appear in the app.
Are Nintendo Store app sale notifications available in every country?
The cited notification wording is from Nintendo of America’s US app page. Do not assume the same feature, catalog or alert behavior in another region without checking that region’s current Nintendo information.

Open Nintendo eShop or the individual game page in your own regional storefront immediately before purchase. Nintendo UK specifically directs users to those pages for the latest pricing.
Do Nintendo eShop Cards help me track a game?
No. Nintendo identifies eShop Cards as a way to fund a digital purchase; they do not discover titles, record a wishlist or send price alerts.
