How to Find and Set Up Games With Full-Song Tracklists

For recognizable songs that you can perform from beginning to end, start with Fortnite Festival’s Main Stage. It is free to access through Fortnite, supports solo play or parties of up to four, and lets you choose a song part and difficulty. Its Jam Stage is different: it is a loop-mixing space, not a conventional full-song performance mode. Rock Band 4 remains the stronger fit for a traditional band setup and a historically large catalog, but its current store and downloadable-content availability must be checked for your platform and country.

“Full-song tracklist” is not a formal technical category. Games differ in whether a track is a complete chart, a short loop, a rotating selection, downloadable content, or an item unlocked through progression. Use the guide below to identify the right mode, obtain songs legally, connect the correct hardware, and avoid buying equipment for a feature your game does not support.

What “full-song” means in a rhythm game

A full-song experience normally lets you perform a chart that follows a licensed recording from its opening to its ending. You select a part such as lead guitar, bass, drums, or vocals, choose a difficulty, and play through the arrangement without the game stopping after a short loop.

Some music games use the same song names for two very different activities. A performance mode may chart an entire recording, while a creative mode may provide short Jam Loops that you combine, change tempo, and repeat. Both are musical, but only the first answers a request to “play the whole song.” Always check the mode name, the chart length, and whether the selection is a complete recording before building a library.

Which games in this guide support song performance?

Game or mode What you play How songs are obtained Hardware and access caveats
Fortnite Festival Main Stage Licensed songs and Fortnite tracks performed with a selected part and difficulty; a setlist can contain up to four tracks. Rotating featured tracks, seasonal progression, or individual Jam Track purchases with V-Bucks. A party member who owns a track can add it for the party. Runs inside Fortnite with no separate Festival download after Fortnite is installed or available. A guitar controller is optional for standard parts but required for Pro Lead and Pro Bass.
Fortnite Festival Jam Stage Mixes made with Jam Loops, adjustable key, and tempo. It is a creative loop mode rather than the full-song performance mode. Uses the Jam Track inventory available to your account and party; selections and entitlements can rotate. Available through Fortnite on supported platforms and regions; do not treat a Jam Stage loop as proof that a complete performance chart is available.
Rock Band 4 Band-style performances using guitar, bass, drums, vocals, and other supported instruments. Harmonix’s official page historically lists 65 on-disc songs and more than 2,000 downloadable songs. That is a catalog claim, not a guarantee that every item is currently purchasable. Rock Band Rivals is described for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Compatible instrument controllers and USB microphones are supported, but instrument bundles are no longer manufactured. Store availability needs a current platform-and-territory check.

Fortnite Festival: the practical starting point

Main Stage versus Jam Stage

Epic describes Fortnite Festival as a music-based rhythm experience inside Fortnite. Choose Main Stage when you want to perform a song. You pick a track, select an available part, set the difficulty, and play the chart. Main Stage supports solo play or a party with up to three other players.

Jam Stage is for creating mixes with friends. Its Jam Loops can be combined and adjusted by key and tempo. A Jam Stage session can sound like a song-making performance, but it is not interchangeable with a start-to-finish chart on Main Stage. Keep that distinction in mind when searching for a “full-song” catalog.

Where to launch Festival

  1. Install or open Fortnite on a supported device.
  2. Open the Discover screen.
  3. In the By Epic row, select Festival Main Stage for song performance or Jam Stage for loop mixing.
  4. Follow the first-launch optimization prompts. Epic’s support guidance says optimization is part of the initial setup and can be revisited later.

Epic lists PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Android among the download platforms. Cloud play is listed through supported services and regions. Platform and regional support can change, so confirm that your device and account region are eligible before planning a purchase.

Configure audio, video, and input timing

Rhythm games are sensitive to television latency, Bluetooth audio delay, display processing, and controller timing. Fortnite Festival’s audio, video, and input tune-up settings can be revisited from Game Settings in-game or from the lobby.

  1. Open the lobby or an active Fortnite session.
  2. Open Game Settings.
  3. Run the audio and video tune-up rather than relying on a generic television “game mode” setting.
  4. Complete the input calibration with the device you will actually use. If you switch from a wireless controller to a guitar, calibrate again.
  5. Play a familiar track at an easier difficulty. If notes consistently appear early or late even when your timing feels correct, repeat calibration and check display or headset processing.

Optimization is not a difficulty setting. It compensates for delay so the chart and your input line up; it will not make a song easier or change the number of notes.

Set bindings, part, and difficulty

Default bindings vary with the input device. Change them under Controller Settings or Keyboard Settings. In the Festival lobby, choose the instrument part and difficulty before starting. Available parts include Lead, Bass, Drums, Vocals, Pro Lead, and Pro Bass. You can change the part or difficulty between songs, which is useful when a mixed-skill party shares a setlist.

Standard Lead and Bass use ordinary supported input devices. Epic support identifies a guitar controller as a requirement for the selectable Pro Lead and Pro Bass parts. If those options do not appear, connect the guitar before entering the song-selection screen and verify that the controller is recognized by your platform. Buying a guitar is therefore an upgrade for a specific play style, not a prerequisite for entering Festival Main Stage.

How to build a Fortnite Festival setlist

Use the rotating featured selection

Festival offers a rotating group of featured tracks that can be played for a limited time. This is the lowest-commitment way to try the performance system, but it does not guarantee that a desired song will remain available. Check the current selection in the Main Stage backstage area before inviting a party that expects a particular track.

Unlock tracks through seasonal progression

Seasonal progression can grant Jam Tracks. The exact contents change with the season, so treat a pass reward as a time-limited entitlement rather than a permanent, published catalog promise. Read the current reward track before committing to a season for one specific song.

Purchase individual Jam Tracks

Individual Jam Tracks can be bought in the Item Shop with V-Bucks. Inventory and pricing are subject to change; do not assume that a track will be continuously listed or that today’s shop price will remain the same. Epic’s purchase guidance also advises equipping Jam Tracks in the Locker before joining the Stage.

Let a party owner add a track

Epic says a Main Stage setlist may contain up to four tracks. A party member who owns a track can add it for the party, and friends can use a purchased track while they are in the same party. This lets a group play together without every member buying the same song, but it is still dependent on the owner’s entitlement, the current mode, and the track’s availability.

  1. Have the owner equip the desired Jam Track in the Locker.
  2. Form the party and enter Festival Main Stage.
  3. Open the backstage song list and add the owned track to the setlist.
  4. Keep the total at four tracks or fewer for that set.
  5. Each player selects a part and difficulty before the song starts.

Rock Band 4: a traditional band-style alternative

What the catalog figures mean

Harmonix’s official Rock Band page describes 65 songs on the Rock Band 4 disc and more than 2,000 songs available for download. Those numbers describe the catalog represented by the page, not a current guarantee that every song can still be purchased in every territory. A separate older statement on the same legacy material mentions more than 120 songs ready to play, including 65 core soundtrack songs and 57 free additions; because that is an older snapshot, the broader 65-on-disc and more-than-2,000-downloadable claim is the more useful way to describe the historical scale, with the same availability warning.

Controllers and microphones

Rock Band 4 supports compatible guitar and drum controllers and supported USB microphones. A conventional controller can run the software, but the band experience depends on having hardware that the game and console generation recognize. Harmonix notes that instrument bundles are no longer manufactured, so used hardware may be more realistic than finding a new boxed bundle. Do not assume that any generic USB guitar, drum kit, or microphone will work; check the exact console model and compatibility listing before buying.

Current purchase availability

Rock Band 4’s availability is more complicated than its historic catalog. A GamesRadar report dated October 1, 2025, said the game was set to be removed from PlayStation and Xbox digital stores as original soundtrack licenses expired. The report also said previously purchased copies and content would remain downloadable. Because delisting status can vary by store, territory, and date, verify the current listing directly on your console before relying on a new digital purchase or a specific downloadable song.

This distinction matters when comparing Rock Band 4 with Festival. Rock Band may offer the deeper legacy catalog and dedicated band peripherals, yet a new player may have difficulty obtaining the base game, a particular add-on, or replacement instruments. A previously purchased account may have a different set of download rights from a first-time buyer.

Choosing between Fortnite Festival and Rock Band 4

Choose Fortnite Festival when

  • You want the lowest barrier to entry and already have a supported Fortnite device.
  • You prefer a current service with rotating tracks, seasonal unlocks, and Item Shop purchases.
  • You want to play with up to three other people without assembling a full set of dedicated instruments.
  • You are happy to use a standard controller or keyboard for regular Lead, Bass, Drums, or Vocals.
  • You want optional guitar-controller support specifically for Pro Lead or Pro Bass.

Choose Rock Band 4 when

  • You want a traditional band arrangement built around dedicated guitar, bass, drum, and microphone hardware.
  • You are buying or already own compatible Xbox One or PlayStation 4 equipment.
  • You value the historic breadth of a catalog that Harmonix describes as more than 2,000 downloadable songs.
  • You have confirmed that the base game and required add-ons are currently obtainable in your territory, or you already own them.

Questions to answer before spending money

Decision point Fortnite Festival Rock Band 4
Primary experience Main Stage song performance; Jam Stage loop mixing. Band-style song performance.
Entry software Fortnite access; Epic says Festival needs no extra download once Fortnite is available. Rock Band 4 software and a compatible console; current store status must be checked.
Song access Rotating featured tracks, seasonal progression, and V-Bucks purchases; party owners can add owned tracks. On-disc songs plus a historically large downloadable catalog, subject to licensing and store availability.
Dedicated instruments Not required for standard parts; required for Pro Lead and Pro Bass. Useful for the intended band setup; exact guitar, drum, and microphone compatibility matters.
Catalog certainty Do not quote a fixed total; rotation and pass contents change. Historical catalog figures are available, but current purchase rights are not guaranteed.

Setup checklist for a reliable first session

  • Confirm the platform: Check the current supported-device and regional list for Fortnite, or verify the console store listing for Rock Band 4.
  • Decide what “full song” means to you: Select Festival Main Stage, not Jam Stage, when you want a start-to-finish chart.
  • Check the ownership route: Identify whether the song is featured, a seasonal reward, an Item Shop purchase, or an owned track supplied by a party member.
  • Use the right hardware: Standard Festival parts do not require a guitar; Pro Lead and Pro Bass do. Rock Band requires platform-compatible instruments for its full band experience.
  • Calibrate after every major change: Re-run audio, video, and input tuning after switching displays, headsets, controllers, or consoles.
  • Test before buying more: Play a featured or already-owned track at low difficulty to verify latency, bindings, and controller recognition.
  • Check licensing before relying on a legacy catalog: A historic song-count claim does not prove that a song is currently downloadable.

Troubleshooting common problems

The song you want is missing

In Festival, first check whether you are looking at the rotating featured list, the seasonal progression rewards, or the Item Shop. A track can be unavailable in one route while appearing in another later. If a friend owns it, form the same party and have that player equip and add the track. In Rock Band 4, confirm the exact console store and account that originally purchased the content; licensing changes can affect new purchases without removing previously acquired download rights.

Pro Lead or Pro Bass is unavailable

Connect a compatible guitar controller before selecting the part. Epic limits those Pro options to sessions in which a guitar controller is connected. If the game still does not show them, check platform compatibility, reconnect the controller, and return to the lobby so the input device is detected before you enter Main Stage.

Notes do not match the music

Open Game Settings and repeat the audio, video, and input tune-up. Display processing, wireless audio, and a newly connected controller can introduce different delays. Test again on an easier song; changing difficulty does not correct latency, but it makes calibration errors easier to identify.

A Rock Band instrument does not work

Verify the console generation, connection type, and model-specific support. Harmonix’s compatibility references are not a promise that every third-party or generic USB device works. Used instruments may need a compatible wireless receiver or console-specific connection, so confirm those requirements before purchase.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Cloud play or mobile access is unavailable

Epic lists cloud play only through supported services and regions, and platform availability changes. If Festival is absent from your Discover screen, check the account region, service eligibility, and current platform list rather than assuming the game has been removed globally.

How to keep a tracklist usable over time

Service-based catalogs and licensed legacy games age differently. For Festival, keep a personal list of tracks you actually own, not just songs seen in a rotating selection. Note whether each item came from a purchase, a seasonal reward, or a party member’s library. This prevents a temporary featured track from being mistaken for a permanent entitlement.

For Rock Band 4, record the console account that owns the base game and downloadable songs, and preserve access to that account. If a store delisting occurs, previously purchased content may remain downloadable even when a new purchase is no longer offered, as reported in the October 1, 2025 coverage. That is an account-and-platform issue, not evidence that every song remains available to new players.

The most dependable buying sequence is therefore: test the game with an available song, verify timing and controls, confirm the exact track’s current status, and only then purchase optional songs or dedicated hardware. This approach separates what you can play today from what a historical catalog once contained.
