How to Find and Revoke Apps Connected to Your Google Account

Open your Google Account’s linked apps page, confirm you are signed in to the account that authorized the connection, select the app, inspect the connection type, and use the matching removal control. For ordinary data access, choose Access to your Google Account, then See details, Remove access, and confirm. Revoking access stops future access covered by that permission; it does not automatically erase information the developer already copied, and it does not delete the app’s own account.

Start with the correct Google Account and the linked apps page

Google keeps connected third-party services in the Google Account linked apps controls. This is the place to review and manage connections, rather than the settings inside the third-party app. If you use more than one Google Account, first check which account is currently signed in. A connection authorized from a work, school, personal, or secondary account will appear only under that account.

Open the linked apps page from your Google Account settings and review the list. Google groups connections by type, including access to Google Account data, Sign in with Google, linked accounts, and permissions given to Gemini or another Google agent. Select the app you want to investigate; do not assume every entry represents the same kind of access.

Before you remove anything

  • Verify the Google Account shown in the account controls.
  • Match the app’s name and developer with the service you recognize.
  • Read the connection type and the data or actions listed in its details.
  • Decide whether you want to stop data access, stop Google-based sign-in, remove an account link, or stop agent access.
  • Make a note of anything you may need later, such as the app’s support address, account identifier, or a feature that depends on the connection.

What the four connection types mean

The removal action depends on how the app is connected. Google’s labels distinguish identity sign-in, permission to Google data, a link between two separate accounts, and access for an agent. Use the label shown for your app instead of applying a generic “disconnect” assumption.

Connection shown by Google What it allows Control used to remove it Immediate effect
Sign in with Google Uses your Google identity to sign in to the third-party service and can provide automatic sign-in through that connection. Stop using Sign in with Google The Google sign-in link stops. The third-party account and its stored data remain unless you delete them through the developer.
Access to your Google Account Authorizes the app to access the specific Google Account data listed in its permission details. Remove access Future access covered by the authorization is blocked.
Linked account Connects your Google Account with the app’s separate account so that linked features can work together. Delete link The connection between the two accounts is removed; features that depend on it may stop working.
Agent access Lets Gemini or another Google agent interact with the linked app under the permission shown. Stop using the app for the relevant agent. The agent can no longer use that permission, but the underlying app link is not automatically disconnected or deleted.

Google can change the grouping or exact wording in account controls. Always inspect the connection type displayed for the selected app before confirming a change. A service can have more than one connection, so removing one entry may leave another authorization active.

Remove an app’s access to Google Account data

This is the usual procedure when an app can read, copy, or manage information in your Google Account.

  1. Sign in to the Google Account that was used when the app was connected.
  2. Open the Google Account linked apps page and select the app.
  3. Choose Access to your Google Account.
  4. Select See details and read the permissions listed. Check whether the app can view or copy data, or manage data.
  5. Select Remove access.
  6. Confirm the removal when Google asks.

Google Account Help states: “If you remove access, the app can’t access your Google Account.” That statement applies to the Google Account data covered by the permission you removed. It does not make the third-party service forget information it already received.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What to check in the details screen

Do not treat the app name alone as proof of what it can do. The details screen identifies the categories of data and, in some cases, the type of operation allowed. A permission to view or copy information is different from permission to manage account data. Management access can include editing, creating, or deleting data, so it deserves a closer review before you leave it active.

Read each requested category rather than approving a bundle automatically. Ask whether the app’s main function needs the access, whether you still use that function, and whether the developer is the organization you intended to authorize. An old integration that has not been used for months is a reasonable candidate for removal, especially when it requests management capabilities.

Stop using Sign in with Google for an app

Sign in with Google is an identity connection. Removing it is appropriate when you no longer want Google to provide the sign-in path, even if you intend to keep the third-party account.

  1. Open the linked apps page while signed in to the correct Google Account.
  2. Select the connection identified as Sign in with Google.
  3. Open its details.
  4. Select Stop using Sign in with Google.
  5. Confirm the change.

Afterward, automatic Google sign-in through that connection stops. This action does not delete the account you created with the third-party service. If you still need that account, use the developer’s supported sign-in method, such as a password or another login option, if one is available. If you want the third-party account closed or its data erased, use the developer’s account-deletion or privacy process separately.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not assume that changing the password on the third-party service removes the Google link, or that deleting the app from a phone does so. Those actions are separate from the Google Account control. If you are retiring the service completely, stop the Google sign-in connection, then follow the developer’s deletion instructions and verify that no other Google connection remains.

Delete a linked account connection

A linked account is different from both a Google sign-in button and a permission to read Google data. It connects your Google Account with the app’s own account so that a feature can pass information or recognize the two accounts as belonging together.

  1. On the linked apps page, select the connection identified as a linked account.
  2. Open the connection details.
  3. Choose Delete link.
  4. Confirm the deletion.

Deleting the link can disable features that rely on the connection. It does not necessarily delete either account or erase information already held by the app. Treat the link removal and the third party’s account or data deletion as separate tasks.

For example, a service may continue to have a profile, subscription, files, or activity history after the link is removed. If reconnecting later is possible, read the service’s instructions first so you understand whether a new link will create a duplicate profile or restore the old one.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Stop an agent from using a connected app

Google’s controls can show permissions for Gemini or another Google agent. These permissions are not interchangeable with the underlying app connection. You can stop the agent’s use without deleting the app link.

  1. Open the linked apps page.
  2. Find the app, or use the Agent access filter if it is available.
  3. Select the app and review which agent has the permission.
  4. Choose the option to stop using the app for that agent.
  5. Confirm the change.

Stopping agent access prevents that agent from interacting with the app under the permission you stopped. Google states that this action does not itself disconnect or delete the Google Account’s link with the app. If you also want the broader link removed, return to the connection’s own controls and remove it using the applicable action.

Check for multiple agent permissions if more than one agent or app integration is listed. Stopping one agent does not imply that another listed permission has also been stopped.

Revocation is not the same as deleting old data

Removing a permission controls future access; it is not a remote-wipe command for the developer’s systems. An app may already have received, copied, or generated information while the authorization was active. Google says you may need to contact the third party to request deletion of data it already has.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Google Account data access: blocks the app from accessing the Google data covered by the revoked permission, but does not automatically delete previously received copies.
  • Sign in with Google: stops the Google sign-in link, but leaves the third-party account and its stored data in place.
  • Linked account: removes the connection and may disable linked features, but does not by itself close either account.
  • Agent access: stops the selected agent’s permission while leaving the underlying app link unless you remove that separately.

If your goal includes erasing the third-party account, find the developer’s account deletion or privacy request process. Deleting the third-party account alone also does not necessarily remove the Google-side connection, so check the Google linked apps controls afterward when stopping sharing is important.

How to make a deletion request

Use the developer’s account settings, privacy center, or support channel. State which account belongs to you, request deletion of data held by the service, and ask whether any backups or retained records have a separate schedule. Do not send more personal information than the developer needs to identify the account. Google’s revocation control and the developer’s deletion workflow solve different problems.

Review permissions before you keep or grant access

A connected app can request only basic profile information, permission to view or copy data, or authority to manage data. Google recommends reviewing the requested data and reading the app’s privacy policy and security disclosures before granting or retaining access.

Basic profile information

Some sign-in or authorization flows request basic profile details. Confirm that the app’s purpose reasonably requires the information it asks for and that the developer is recognizable.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

View or copy access

Viewing or copying data means the app may be able to retrieve information while the authorization remains active. Consider whether the service still needs that information and whether you trust its handling practices.

Management access

Management access can include editing, creating, or deleting data. This is materially broader than read-only access. Keep it only when the feature genuinely depends on those actions and the developer’s security and privacy practices are acceptable.

Sensitive information and app review

Google cautions that an app requesting sensitive information may not have been reviewed for compliance with Google’s data security policies. This can occur when an app is still in development or is limited to an organization. Grant sensitive access only to a developer you trust, and understand why the permission is needed.

Time-limited authorization

Some authorization flows may offer a time-limited option. Google gives 30 or 180 days as examples and says users will be notified before a third party’s access ends. These are possible choices, not a universal setting for every connection. If a time limit is offered and the service is temporary, select the shortest period that fits the task.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How to choose the right removal action

Use the outcome you want as a quick decision guide:

  • Want to prevent an app from reading or changing Google data? Remove Access to your Google Account.
  • Want to stop the Google button or automatic Google login? Stop using Sign in with Google.
  • Want to separate two existing accounts while keeping both accounts? Choose Delete link.
  • Want Gemini or another agent to stop interacting with the app but keep the connection for another purpose? Stop the relevant Agent access.
  • Want the developer to erase information already collected? Use its account-deletion or privacy request process as a separate step.

When the desired result is “disconnect everything,” inspect the app’s entries one by one. A service can have a sign-in connection and a data-access permission at the same time, and stopping only one may leave the other in place.

Verify the change after removal

Return to the linked apps list after confirming the action. The app may disappear, move to another category, or retain a separate connection that still needs attention. Open the remaining entry and read its details rather than relying on the app’s name.

Then test only what is necessary. If you stopped Google sign-in, confirm that the Google login route no longer works and that you know the alternate login method before signing out elsewhere. If you deleted a link, check whether the dependent feature is expected to stop. If you removed data access, look for a clear indication that the permission is no longer listed. These checks help distinguish a completed revocation from a connection that was only partly removed.

Troubleshoot common problems

The app is not in the list

First verify the signed-in Google Account. A connection authorized under another account will not appear in the current account’s list. Also check the available connection-type filters; the app may be grouped under Sign in with Google, linked accounts, agent access, or data access rather than the category you expected. If you still cannot find it, review the app’s own settings to identify which Google Account or login method it used, then return to the matching Google Account.

You removed access but the app still shows your old information

Revocation blocks future access covered by the permission. It does not automatically remove data the developer already received. Use the developer’s privacy or account-deletion process to request deletion of retained information, and keep a record of the request if the data is sensitive.

You can no longer use the Google sign-in button

That is the expected result of choosing Stop using Sign in with Google. The third-party account was not deleted, but its Google sign-in route was stopped. Use another login method supported by the service or contact the developer if you need to recover access.

A linked feature stopped working

Deleting a linked account connection can disable any feature that depends on that link. If the break was unintended, review the third-party service’s instructions before reconnecting. Reauthorize only the specific connection and permissions you still need.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The app still appears after agent access was stopped

Stopping agent access affects the agent permission, not necessarily the underlying app link. Inspect the remaining connection type and remove the broader link separately if your goal is to disconnect the app entirely.

You deleted the third-party account but Google still shows a connection

Account deletion on the developer’s service does not by itself remove the Google-side connection. Open the linked apps page and remove the remaining connection using its displayed control.

The labels look different

Google may update the organization and wording of its account controls. Look for the linked apps area, select the app, and follow the connection type and action displayed there. The exact button text can change while the distinction between sign-in, data access, linked-account, and agent permissions remains useful.

A practical review routine

Use the linked apps page as an account-maintenance checklist rather than waiting for a security scare.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

  1. Confirm the Google Account you are auditing.
  2. Review each listed app and its connection type.
  3. Open details for permissions you no longer recognize or need.
  4. Remove data access, Google sign-in, linked-account, or agent permissions using the matching control.
  5. Return to the list and check for a second connection belonging to the same service.
  6. For information already held by a developer, submit a separate deletion request through that service.
  7. Before approving any future connection, examine the requested data, management capabilities, privacy policy, and security disclosures.

Keeping these actions separate prevents the most common mistake: assuming that stopping a sign-in button, deleting an account link, or revoking an agent permission also erases the third-party account and every copy of data already shared.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which third-party apps have access to my Google Account data?

Sign in to the correct Google Account, open its linked apps page, and select each entry. Choose Access to your Google Account and open See details to review the data and actions authorized for that app.

How do I remove third-party access to my Google Account?

On the linked apps page, select the app, choose Access to your Google Account, open See details, select Remove access, and confirm. Google says that removing access prevents the app from accessing the covered Google Account data.

Does revoking access delete my data from the app?

No. Revocation stops future access covered by the permission, but the developer may already have copied or received information. Use the developer’s account-deletion or privacy process to request deletion of data it retains.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does stopping Sign in with Google delete my account?

No. It stops the Google sign-in link and automatic sign-in for that service. The third-party account and its stored data remain unless you delete them through the developer.

What is the difference between deleting a link and removing data access?

Removing data access blocks an app from the authorized Google data. Deleting a linked account removes the relationship between your Google Account and the app’s separate account, which can disable linked features. Neither action automatically deletes the third-party account.

Can I stop Gemini or another agent without disconnecting the app?

Yes. Use the app’s Agent access entry or filter and stop the app for the relevant agent. That stops the agent permission while leaving the underlying app link in place unless you remove it separately.

Why is an app still listed after I deleted its account?

Deleting the account on the developer’s service does not necessarily remove the Google-side connection. Return to the Google Account linked apps page and remove the remaining connection using its displayed control.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can Google permissions expire automatically?

Some authorization flows may offer time-limited access, with Google giving 30 or 180 days as examples. These options are not universal; when available, Google says users are notified before the third party’s access ends.

The Bottom Line

Use Google Account’s linked apps page, verify the account, and remove the specific connection you no longer want: Remove access for Google data, Stop using Sign in with Google for the login link, Delete link for a linked account, or the agent-specific control for Gemini and other agents. Then contact the developer separately if you need previously shared data or the third-party account deleted.
