To find silence in a 24/7 Indian music YouTube playlist, first check whether the quiet is in the song file, then trace the same moment through your encoder and into YouTube. A track that sounds normal on your computer can still be muted, misrouted, or missing from the outgoing stream. Match the affected time across file playback, OBS meters and monitoring, a local recording, and YouTube’s Live Control Room before changing settings.
First identify where the sound disappears
When you hear silence, note its start time, which song or playlist item was playing, and whether the problem affects just that item or the entire broadcast. At that moment, check whether the encoder’s audio meter moves. Preserve the exact file and timestamp; these details help distinguish a bad media file from a routing or ingestion problem.

- One song is quiet in local playback: inspect that file and listen around the timestamp.
- The file sounds normal but the encoder meter is still: check the selected source, mute state, and audio routing.
- The encoder meter moves but the broadcast is silent: compare encoder monitoring, a local recording, and the YouTube stream health messages.
- The whole broadcast is replaced, interrupted, or terminated: check YouTube Studio for copyright or stream-health notices; this is different from a file that simply contains a quiet passage.
Use the same moment in each check. Otherwise, a normal chorus in one place may be compared with an intentional instrumental pause in another.
Check whether the music file itself contains silence
Listen to the affected passage
Open the suspected file in a media player and listen before, during, and after the reported timestamp. A quiet intro, a pause between verses, or a sparse passage in a bhajan, kirtan, Gurbani recording, or other Indian music may be intentional. Do not remove or replace a section solely because an automated scan flags it.

Scan the file with FFmpeg
FFmpeg’s silencedetect filter reports spans below a chosen audio-level threshold for a minimum duration. For a file named silence.mp3, this example uses a noise tolerance of 0.0001:
ffmpeg -i silence.mp3 -af silencedetect=noise=0.0001 -f null -

Read the filter output for the detected silence start and end times, then play those sections to decide whether they are defects. The threshold and minimum duration should suit the recording: a very quiet musical passage can be flagged, while a short dropout may not meet the duration setting. Adjust the filter options for your files rather than treating its output as a diagnosis. See the FFmpeg filter documentation.

Check the source and meter
During the affected playlist item, confirm OBS is receiving audio from the correct source, that the source is not muted, and that it is routed to the stream’s audio output. Watch the Audio Mixer meter while the sound should be playing. A moving meter indicates audio is reaching that OBS mixer channel; it does not by itself prove that the correct mix is being sent to YouTube.

Listen to monitoring and make a local recording
If available, listen through the playback device, then through OBS Audio Monitoring. Make a short local recording and listen back before relying on the live output. This checks what OBS is capturing and mixing, separately from what YouTube receives. OBS’s Audio Mixer guide explains its meters and controls and recommends checking audio early, again when it reaches OBS, and in a local recording.
Compare the encoder output with YouTube’s stream
Compare the affected moment in the local recording and encoder preview with the public YouTube stream. If the local recording is also silent, investigate the source or OBS mix. If it contains sound but YouTube does not, inspect the outgoing encoder configuration and the timestamped messages in YouTube’s Live Control Room.

YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance recommends checking the encoder’s sound and errors, considering CPU load, and reviewing a local archive for audio or video problems. The Live Control Room’s error messages can identify issues with the stream being sent to YouTube. For an “Incorrect stream format” message, YouTube specifies H.264 video and AAC audio for proper ingestion; its error reference also identifies unsupported audio codecs. The Live-stream API health-status reference includes unsupported-codec configuration issues and a noAudioStream state. Follow the specific message and time rather than assuming the source file is at fault.
If the broadcast is interrupted, check copyright notices
A track that plays silently is not the same problem as YouTube interrupting a live broadcast. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; identified content can be replaced with a placeholder, and a stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated if the content remains. Even licensed music may be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID. If the stream stops or is replaced, check YouTube Studio for copyright notices or strikes and resolve the rights issue; changing the audio level will not address it. See YouTube’s copyright guidance.

Or let it run in the cloud
If the playlist is made from uploaded recordings and the issue is keeping a YouTube stream running, StreamNeo is an alternative to a computer-based encoder: it loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It streams the files as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. It does not stream from a camera or to other platforms.
The first day is free with no card. The Monthly price is $9.99 per month. For Indian creators, UPI is available, as are cards. This changes where the playlist runs, not what music you have rights to use; check copyright permissions independently.
