Find a game in PlayStation Store
On console, the web, or the PlayStation App, use Store Search when you know the title. To explore, browse the available categories. The US PlayStation Store currently lists Latest, Collections, Deals, Subscriptions, and Browse; the exact menu and categories may differ by region or change over time. Sony also highlights wishlists and free-to-play games on its PlayStation Store account page.

If you have not bought the game, open its Store page and follow the purchase or claim option shown for your account. Once it is owned, download it from the Store or your account library. A wishlist can help you keep track of a title, but it does not add the game to your library.

Sign in with the account that owns the game. Sony’s download instructions give these routes; menu labels can vary slightly with system software and interface updates.

Download an add-on
Add-ons are separate from the base game in the library. Find the game first, then use its add-on area:

- PS5: In Game Library, open the game’s Add-Ons section, select the add-on, and choose Download.
- PS4: In Library > Purchased, select the game, choose PlayStation Store > Your Add-Ons, then select the arrow beside the add-on.
- PlayStation App: In Game Library > Purchased, select the game, open Add-Ons, and choose Download to Console.
Start a download remotely
The web and App routes can start a download on your console without selecting the game from the console itself. For the App, use Game Library > Purchased, select the game, and tap Download to Console. First link the console to the App. On the web, sign in, select your avatar, open Game Library > Purchased, choose the game, and select Download.
Sony’s remote-download instructions require the account’s PS5 to be signed in, or the PS4 to be activated as that account’s primary PS4. Automatic downloads must also be set up; otherwise, the download starts the next time the console is turned on. Follow the current system menus for your console version to check these settings. If a purchase or download is missing
- Confirm you are signed in to the PlayStation account that bought or claimed the game.
- Check Game Library > Purchased on the web or PlayStation App, or the corresponding library on your console.
- If the game or add-on is absent, check your account’s transaction history. Sony’s support page also links to download troubleshooting and add-on support.
If you own both PS4 and PS5 versions, check which version you are downloading. Some PS4 games can be upgraded to a digital PS5 version, but eligibility depends on the individual game. On PS5, if both versions are available, Sony says you can switch between them using the options button.
Reinstall a game or manage storage
Deleting a downloaded game to free console space does not remove it from your online library. Sony UK says purchased games remain in the library and can be reinstalled. Depending on the console and drive compatibility, games can be downloaded to the console’s HDD or a compatible external hard drive; check the relevant console and drive requirements before relying on external storage.
