Search for Spider-Man in your own region’s PlayStation Store, then open the exact game or add-on page and confirm the platform, edition, price and any PlayStation Plus requirement before downloading. What “free Spider-Man content” can mean
A PlayStation Store result can be free in several different ways, and those conditions are not interchangeable:

The $39.99 amount is the value displayed on the live US listing when it was checked, not a universal or permanent price. A sale, currency conversion, tax treatment, region change or edition change can produce a different total. The Remastered page being marked for PS5 likewise does not make the game or its add-ons free; it only identifies the edition and its compatible platform.
Because the Store is dynamic, open the current item page rather than relying on a search snippet, an old video or a third-party list. A search result can lead to a different edition from the one you intended, and a DLC result can be mistaken for a complete game.

- Open your regional PlayStation Store. Prices and entitlements are tied to the account’s country or region.
- Sign in to the account that will play the content. A claim made while signed out, or on another account, may not appear in the console’s library.
- Search for “Spider-Man.” Search results can contain the base game, remastered edition, bundles and individual add-ons.
- Open the exact item page. Do not assume that a bundle, DLC episode and base game share the same price or platform.

- Inspect the add-ons list. The game page may show individual episodes even when a particular edition already includes them.
- Check system requirements and compatibility. Sony’s purchase guidance recommends reviewing the description, edition, compatibility and requirements before completing a transaction.
- Review the account and region one more time. This avoids claiming content on an account that cannot use it.
- Only then select the claim, add-to-library or download control. If the page asks for payment, it is not a free download for that account at that time.
If the page uses a membership message rather than a zero-price button, treat the offer as conditional. Confirm the named PlayStation Plus tier and any dates or catalog language. A membership entitlement is different from owning a purchased copy, even though both can place a title in the library.
Choosing between a base game, remaster and DLC
Use these checks when several Spider-Man results appear together:

For example, the GOTY listing describes the full game plus all three chapters of The City That Never Sleeps, while the Remastered page is a PS5 edition with the Spider-Man add-ons displayed separately. Those are different Store records even when their names overlap.

Download on PS5
For a game already claimed or purchased on the account:
- From the Games home screen, open Game Library.
- Select Your Collection.
- Choose the Spider-Man game.
- Select Download and follow the on-screen storage prompts.
To install an add-on, open the game’s page in your collection and scroll to Add-Ons. Select the relevant add-on and choose Download. An add-on may not appear as a separate game tile; it is associated with its base game.
If several episodes are shown, compare their names with the entitlement you claimed. Selecting an episode that belongs to another edition or another base game will not substitute for the required game. Let the console finish the download before launching the title so that the add-on can be recognized.
Download on PS4
- Open Library from the PS4 home screen.
- Select Purchased.
- Choose the Spider-Man game.
- Select Download.
For downloadable content, open PlayStation Store > Your Add-Ons, find the add-on linked to the game and select the download arrow. If the add-on is not listed, first confirm that the base game and the account used to claim it are the same.
The PS4 library route is for the game entitlement. The Add-Ons area is the more useful place for individual DLC, because DLC is attached to a base game rather than presented as a standalone game in every library view.
Start a download from a web browser
- Sign in to the PlayStation Store with the account that owns or claimed the item.
- Select your avatar, then open Game Library > Purchased.
- Choose the Spider-Man game and select Download or the equivalent download-from-library control.
- For DLC, open the game’s Add-Ons area and select the add-on’s download option.

Use the PlayStation App for remote downloads
- Open Game Library > Purchased in the PlayStation App.
- Select the Spider-Man game and choose Download to Console.
- For DLC, open the game, select Add-Ons, choose the add-on and tap Download to Console.
A linked console is required. Remote downloading also requires a PS5 signed in to the account or a PS4 activated as that account’s primary PS4. Automatic-download settings may need to be enabled on the console.
Remote download is a convenience feature, not a separate way to obtain free content. You must first have a valid claim, purchase or membership entitlement in the same account. The app then sends the installation request to the linked PS4 or PS5.
How PlayStation Plus changes the answer
PlayStation Plus monthly games are available at no additional charge while the qualifying membership is active. Catalog access depends on the membership tier and the terms shown for your region. The checked Store information does not establish that a Spider-Man title is currently included for every tier or country.

- Check the account: make sure the console, website or app is signed in to the account that claimed the item.
- Check transaction history: Sony advises reviewing transaction history when an item is missing from the library.
- Look in the correct place: full games appear in the game library; DLC is under the game’s Add-Ons area or, on PS4, under PlayStation Store > Your Add-Ons.
- Confirm the platform: a PS5 remaster and a PS4 listing can be separate products.

Transaction history is particularly useful when a button was selected but the library did not update. It can distinguish a completed claim from a failed or abandoned transaction. Once ownership or access is confirmed, use the platform-specific library path rather than searching for the title again.
