How to find and install free-to-play games on Steam
Steam’s official support guidance says free-to-play games can be downloaded without a subscription or credit card. That describes the free-to-play category, not a recurring Steam giveaway schedule. Individual games can still sell optional items or content through the Steam Wallet.
Step 1: Open Steam’s free-to-play listing
- Open the Steam Store and go to the free-to-play category.
- Browse or search for a game that interests you. Use filters and the game’s own store page rather than assuming every result has identical terms.
Step 2: Read the individual game page
Check the page for the supported operating system, hardware or system requirements, online-service requirements and any disclosure of in-game purchases. “Free-to-play” refers to the base download; it does not promise that every character, cosmetic, expansion or progression shortcut is free.
Step 3: Install from the available play option
Select the page’s play or install control and follow Steam’s installation prompts. The exact button label can vary by title and by whether Steam detects that the game is already in your library. - It does not establish that Steam runs a regular, weekly or monthly full-game giveaway.

How do I claim free games on Epic?
Epic Games Store’s official Free Games page advertises a weekly offer. Epic Support says a new offer becomes available on Thursday at 8 AM PT and normally remains claimable for seven days. Claiming requires an Epic account with two-factor authentication enabled. After a successful claim, Epic says: “Once claimed, the game is yours permanently – even if you don’t download it right away.”

Step 1: Check the live Free Games page
- Open the current Epic Games Store Free Games page.
- Confirm the game title, supported platform, region availability and the displayed end date or countdown. Do not rely on an old article, screenshot or social-media post because the title rotates.
Step 2: Prepare the account
Sign in to your Epic account. If two-factor authentication is not enabled, turn it on using the security settings Epic presents. The account-security requirement is part of Epic’s documented weekly claim process, so an account that is merely registered may not be enough.
Step 3: Complete the claim
- Open the current offer and choose the displayed claim or get control.

If you missed the Epic deadline

How to claim PlayStation Plus monthly games
PlayStation Plus monthly games are subscription benefits, not permanent purchases detached from membership. Sony says they are available at no extra cost during an active PlayStation Plus membership, with new games added each calendar month. You must add a monthly game to your library during its availability period; after that, it can be played while the qualifying membership remains active.

Using a browser or the PlayStation App
Sony also supports claiming through a browser or the PlayStation App, with remote download available where supported. The labels can change between the website, app and console, so look for the monthly-games area and confirm that the game has been added to your library rather than only viewed.
Membership and catalog limits
Monthly games remain playable while your PlayStation Plus membership is active. If the membership lapses, access is suspended until a qualifying membership is restored. This is different from the Game Catalog included with Extra and Premium plans: catalog access requires the appropriate plan, and Sony says some catalog titles have an end date and can leave the service. A catalog listing should therefore not be described as permanent ownership.

The game is not visible after claiming
Refresh the library, sign out and back in, and confirm that you used the intended account. Check the order or transaction history where the platform provides one. The offer has expired
